Wandering in the Dark

By Benxiao Ma

Chapter 7: New World Order

Omega stumbled through the door leading into Dimitri’s dark and dingy lab and then collapsed onto the ground. Dimitri stood at the front of the room in front of a computer monitor which closed soon after Omega hit the ground.

“Well, I knew you would fail Omega, Airaxen is far to stubborn to die that easily.”

“Then why...Did you send me out to kill him? Were you expecting me to die?!” Omega shouted.

“No, what I was expecting was you to divert their attention from trying to locate me while I worked on something to make all this nothing more then a bad memory,” Dimitri walked over to Omega and lifted him up and looked into Omega’s cracked visor. Dimitri swung his cloak to the side so one of his arms were freed and then pointed a finger at an empty capsule and threw Omega into it, the capsule closing afterwards.

“Once you’ve been repaired we shall talk,” Dimitri turned around and walked out of the lab.

The sun began to emerge upon the horizon, the sky turning a magnitude of reds and oranges. Airaxen slowly opened his eyes to the new morning. He looked at his surroundings sleepily, he had never went back into the lab, but instead stayed on the plateau for the night.

“*yawn* It’s been a long time since I’ve had a good night’s sleep, hopefully I’ll be enjoying this luxury more in the future,” he said sleepily. Airaxen looked over to his side, Tikai had stayed on the plateau with him. She had her head laid on Airaxen’s right shoulder while she clung onto his shirt. Airaxen grabbed Tikai’s arms and pried her loose. She also woke up at that moment, and looked up at Airaxen, eyes still half closed.

“Is it already morning?” She asked quietly. Airaxen nodded back at her and began to stand up, but Tikai put an arm around him and held him there.

“Hey, mind if you stayed here for awhile longer? I sorta want to stay here with you,” Airaxen blinked a few times.

“...I guess it wouldn’t be so bad,” Airaxen sat back down and leaned against the stone wall.

“This is real nice,” she said quietly.

“I must agree, we now have some time before Omega counterattacks.”

“Well that’s good too, but I mean just this, being here with you,” Airaxen blinked again and patted Tikai on the head gently.

“So now what should we do?” Airaxen asked.

“Well, I guess I should tell my folks what’s happened and get them to stay where they are until things are done.”

“I see. I had best prepare for Omega, he’ll be back with a vengeance after the humiliation we put him through, not like he didn’t deserve it of course.”

“Next time I see him I’m going to smash his face in!” Airaxen chuckled.

“I guess we should be heading back in, huh?” Airaxen nodded at her and stood up. They both walked back into the elevator that led back into the lab and walked back into the large circular room which now had it’s gapping hole patched up. Draken leaned against the wall next to the still damaged doorway which he came through, his wings closed only his head visible. Despite his peaceful appearance his slit-eyes shot open and he peered over at Airaxen and Tikai, surprising them with his sudden signs of life. Draken unfurled his wings and pushed off the wall to stand in front of them.

“Today we train, you need to learn how to control the power of the crystals,” Draken said quietly.

“Fun, lessons in blowing stuff up!” Airaxen raised his arms and cheered.

“Not exactly...”

* * *

Airaxen stood on a piece of elevated stone, legs crossed and arms in his lap. Draken and Tikai stood a few meters away watching him. Tikai looked up at Draken and then back to Airaxen.

“I don’t get why you’re getting Airaxen to meditate, aren’t you supposed to go and show him how to blow stuff up with massive attacks from the crystals?” She said quietly so as not to distract Airaxen.

“To do that he first has to be able to be call on that sort of power. Twice in the past have I sensed Airaxen draw power like that. The first time was while he was in the mountains and was engulfed in anger and rage,” Draken raised his claw to be level with Tikai’s face and then snapped his fingers, a large cloudy black orb forming in it. Then the orb glowed white and cleared to show the images of Airaxen standing in deep snow, glowing a bright red aura his arm cannon pointed at Sonaris who had a large crystal like titan in front of him. A brilliant red beam shot out of Airaxen’s cannon and exploded in a fireball that seemed to destroy Sonaris and his creation. The orb then clouded back over with a black mist. A second later the orb was filled with hundreds of tiny little dots of light, Tikai didn’t understand what it was showing until the dots all blurred to the side like the view of the camera was shifting. Then the Earth was centered on the black orb, then Airaxen came into view of the orb, his back facing whoever was looking on. Then a large version of the robots that had been invading the cities appeared, this one at least 50 feet tall and pummeling Airaxen. The robot threw a massive orb of white energy at Airaxen which was a direct hit, but after the explosion had cleared a different looking figure stood in place of Airaxen, he was engulfed in a golden flame with 7 white orbs flying around him.

“That is the power Airaxen has at his disposal, but he still hasn’t fully accessed the full potential, his power can be at least 20-fold of the power he demonstrated against that robot. But before that can happen his mind and soul has to be focused and pure so for now we will continue to do this,” the orb in his hand drifted up into the air and faded away, Draken then lowered his claw to his side.

“Why does he have to master that power anyway?” Asked Tikai. Draken crossed his arms, closed his eyes and sighed.

“Airaxen...He has a major role in a prophecy, one that is now coming to pass.”

“Oh? And what is this prophecy?”

“That, I cannot tell you as of yet,” Draken uncrossed his arms and walked over to Airaxen. “Alright, I think it’s time that we moved on and tried some new techniques,” Airaxen opened his eyes and jumped off from the stone and nodded at Draken.

“Ok then, what are you going to show me?”

“To begin harnessing the power of the crystals, like to use the fire crystal to make fire, the ice crystal to make ice and so on. If you can do that you can apply the elemental properties to your Dark-light attack.”

“Cool, ok then where do-” before Airaxen could finish the door in the side of the mountain wall opened up and Sonaris walked through.

“*yawn* Ok, what’s the plan for today?” He said sleepily.

“Draken and I are going to train for the day, I have to learn how to control the crystals. And what about you?”

“I’ve heard that some parts of the city hasn’t been destroyed as of yet and I think I’ll go take a look at what’s left. But I do know that the museum was spared, I heard that today they’ve received the world’s largest diamond.”

“Oh that sounds like great fun,” Tikai said sarcastically.

“Well I’m interested in it because of the powerful laser I could create with that gem, err not like I’m getting any ideas of course!” Sonaris said hastily. “There are still some parts of me that enjoy the sadistic feeling of mass destruction, but I think I can settle with fighting against Omega and Dimitri’s creations.”

“Heh, nice recovery there Sonaris,” Airaxen muttered quietly.

“Hey Air,” Tikai began. “When you’re done with Draken want to see what’s left of the city as well? Has to be a few clubs left to hang out at.”

“Eh? I...Ok sure I guess,” Airaxen shrugged and looked back at Draken. He crossed his arms again and nodded.

“I see no harm in doing so, when night falls you can leave, we’ll be done by then that I’m certain of. You will need to retain that state of mind during a battle and still be able to use the crystal’s powers at will.”

“Ok and how do we find out if I can retain this state of mind?”

* * *

Airaxen lay on the cold stone ground, tired and worn out, his joints shooting sparks a sign of battle damage.

“When you said test in a battle, I didn’t think you meant to fight with you!” He said in an exhausted voice. Draken chuckled and walked towards the lab entrance, but stopped at the door.

“Tomorrow we continue your training,” Airaxen groaned and mumbled, Draken chuckled again and walked back in. Airaxen lay on the ground not moving, nor did he have any intention in moving. Tikai walked out to see him soon after Draken had left, and kneeled down next to Airaxen.

“Hey Air, you ok there?” Airaxen raised his arm weakly and made a thumbs up. “I’m fine, just tired,” he slowly sat up and looked over at Tikai. “Today, I’ve learned two things: one never get on Draken’s bad side or he’ll rip your head off. And two I couldn’t keep calm and tranquil during a battle if my life depended on it, which ironically it probably does,” Tikai put a hand on Airaxen’s shoulder and smiled at him.

“Don’t worry, you’ll get it. I know how you work, you pull off the impossible at the last second.”

“Well, that seems to be part of my gig so yeah,” Tikai walked behind Airaxen and lifted him up by the arms.

“You feel good enough for a night on the town Air?” Airaxen stretched and let out a yawn, then turned around and nodded at Tikai.

“Alright, couldn’t kill me after all.”

“Oh come on, have some optimism or something!”

“I checked the shops for some, they were all out.”

“Don’t get smart with me!” Airaxen laughed quietly, then patted her on the head gently.

“Ok whatever, lets just go,” he headed back into the lab, his body recovered enough to stop firing sparks. Tikai went and got them both some jackets which she had gotten during the day. Tikai had picked out two jean jackets for them. Airaxen threw his on quickly and gracefully like his sword fighting style, Tikai smirked and pushed him, laughing as she did so.

“You’re a big show off!”

“What? Just because I have a little extra coordination then the average person doesn’t mean I can’t show off a bit of it,” he crossed his arms and walked out of the lab, taking a deep breath of the cool night air. He looked to the horizon, the city was still mostly ruins he looked down at the ground in disgust, he had failed to stop Omega and so many had suffered. Tikai walked up behind him and put a hand on his shoulder.

“You tried, but now we’ll make things right again, ok?” She said quietly. Airaxen sighed and nodded. Airaxen grabbed Tikai by the waist and held her under his arm and flew up and towards the devastated city.

“Heh...I never really noticed up until now just what a cute butt you’ve got.”

“Eh? What did you say?”

“Um, the moon looks like a chocolate chip cookie!”

“...O...k...”

“Whew...Close call.”

“What was that you said?”

“Nothing. If I didn’t know any better I’d say you were starting to hear things.”

* * *

Airaxen and Tikai walked down what used to be the main road in the downtown area, now it was littered with craters and massive slabs of stone and iron. Airaxen glanced from side to side, there were dozens of people huddled around fires trying to keep warm, many of them were covered in soot, or had their clothes torn. Most of them were depressed or crying over a lost one. Airaxen stopped walking and lowered his head.

“All this from my failure...” He muttered quietly.

“You did all you could, that’s all that anyone could do,” Airaxen sighed and shook his head, then continued moving along. They walked a few more meters, then Tikai noticed that some people were clustered around a building which was covered in giant slabs of rock. Tikai ran over to the people to see what was happening. Airaxen slowly walked over as well, the people were all trying to push the rocks away, but they were much to big to be moved. He then walked over to a worn out looking man who was sitting on the ground.

“What’s going on here?” Airaxen asked the man. The man stood up slowly and looked at Airaxen wearily.

“We’ve been trying to unearth that mall, it has food, medical supplies, and back-up generators for power. At this time of year the weather gets real cold suddenly, and some of the injured people can’t stay out here another night. But sadly we haven’t made any progress,” Airaxen looked around at the people surrounding small fires, or clinging to one another for warmth.

“All of you stand back!” They all turned to look at him like he was delusional. But when Airaxen freed his right hand from his jacket revealing the device on his wrist which began to grow a blade, they all scattered. Airaxen leapt up and came crashing down on the massive stone and slashed it apart down the middle, the two halves fell over to the side with a thunderous crash. The blade on Airaxen’s wrist weapon returned back into a grid schematic and dissipated. Airaxen then put his jacket back on and moved to the side to allow a flood of people into the building. He smiled slightly, then continued walking through the area, Tikai catching up with him a few seconds later.

“Hey Air, maybe we should stay here. I’ve been talking to some of the people here and they say that some of the buildings are unstable and might collapse, it happened 3 times yesterday and took out a few more people.”

“Hm...You’ve got a point, alright then we stay here, we can help out some of these people anyway,” Airaxen and Tikai split up to see what they could do. Most were all heading towards the newly opened mall to rest and recover, a few needed some medical attention and were helped back to the mall, which seemingly had turned into an emergency center.

Airaxen later found a nice flat piece of stone to sit down on after things had quieted down. Then the sound of footsteps approaching Airaxen made him look around. Sonaris stood to his left, still in his red and gold armor.

“Didn’t think I’d see you here,” he said to Airaxen quietly. Airaxen stood up and looked over to Sonaris.

“Yeah well, since this is all partly my fault I should try to help out,” Sonaris nodded and took a seat on the stone slab, Airaxen turned around to face him.

“Hey Airaxen, how did you come back from the dead , so to speak,” Airaxen shrugged and crossed his arms.

“Hm...Well...I was floating around in this weird void place, then I think who was Draken appeared and started to show me all these things I did in a past life. Then all these blue crystal shards came flying at me and then I was trapped in a large crystal sphere, then I sorta faded out.”

“Interesting...Hey where did Draken come from anyway?”

“Well I believe he was this massive shadow that would appear every now and then to help out and give advice or something. He gave me the disks from your lunar base but sadly they were destroyed with my original body, oh well.”

“I see, well-” before Sonaris could finish, a damaged sky scrapper behind the two began to collapse. They looked up at the structure right as it was smashed apart by a giant mecha. It had a large round disk like body which had two towers with fins pointing to the side situated at the back. It had 4 arms, which it would walk on like a giant bug, each arm was a thick bar of metal. The hands had 3 flat fingers in the front with two small fingers on each one. On the palm of the hands it had 6 small openings for some sort of purpose. The body had two turbines running the course of it, with a larger turbine in the dead center where it became like a cone with a needle like pole sticking out of it where the head would be attached. The head looked like that of an insect, shaped like a cone with the point arching downwards, two large blades protruding from the top sides of the head. The back of the head was a large exhaust port that was like that on a rocket. The head had another beam-like structure that had what appeared to be a small laser weapon on it. Finally the head had two eyes that looked just like that of an insect’s. The Bug-Mecha crashed down onto the ground, a rain of stone and iron accompanying it. Sonaris pointed his arm cannon at the automation, charging an attack quickly. The Bug-Mecha reared up on it’s hind legs, it’s underbelly held two massive chainsaws, but instead of the normal metal teeth they were garnished with small beam saber hilts that flared to live in an menacing green glow. It then leapt at Sonaris much faster then it Sonaris thought it could move, but luckily for him he was spared being slashed apart by the chainsaws by Airaxen tackling the behemoth to the side.

“Be careful Sonaris, these things are faster then they look!” Sonaris chuckled at Airaxen and nodded, then retargeted the Bug-Mecha and let loose an electric blue beam that shot straight through the head of the machine destroying it instantly.

“Hmph, that was much to easy,” Sonaris muttered, Airaxen nodded and looked around the area briefly.

“I don’t know, sometimes things can be easy,” Airaxen muttered back. But true to form, all of the buildings around them began falling apart, all of them being ripped apart by swarms of the Bug-Mechas.

“...I withdraw my previous comment,” Airaxen moved his right arm to the side, his wrist weapon forming the meter long silver blade. He then glanced over at Sonaris then around at the mechas.

“Sonaris, go find Tikai get her outta here or something. I can hold these off,” Sonaris smirked and hovered a few feet into the air.

“Somewhat cocky there, aren’t you?” He said in an amused tone of voice. Airaxen chuckled.

“Yes, well it’s good to be overconfident when surrounded you know,” Sonaris laughed at the comment, then nodded at him and flew off, just as 5 Bug-Mechas lunged at Airaxen. He launched himself straight into the air, the mechas smashing into each other and slicing each other apart. 3 more of the automations landed on the ground below Airaxen, they each stood up, their heads turning 180 degrees so the exhaust port up at Airaxen, massive green beams firing up at him. Airaxen saw a glimmer of green coming from the ground, he was able to shoot forward but not before a beam shredded the back of his jacket. He looked over his back and frowned.

“I sorta liked that jacket too,” Airaxen shrugged off the piece of the jacket, neon green lines shot from his chest and wrapped around him to form the grid schematic of a intricate suit of armor, that filled out as Airaxen’s normal suit of red and yellow striped armor, the 9 crystals embedded on the chest plate. As he suited up, another 4 Bug-Mecha had smashed onto the scene, all of which pointing their heads at Airaxen and released more emerald green beams at him. Airaxen spun to the left, shot up, veered to the ground, spun to the left again to avoid the beams, but eventually one of them struck him on the chest, knocking him out of the air. Airaxen swung his arm to the side, the blade split apart the two halves siding down along the main part of the device. The top triangular bit of the weapon then shot out the blades lodging themselves into a nearby building, the two parts attached by dozens of tiny green orbs. Airaxen hung from the side of the building and formed a brilliant white orb in his free hand.

“Dark-light bomb!” The small orb expanded to become a meter in diameter in less then a second, Airaxen threw it down at the cluster of robots, the orb landing on one of them, blasting it apart in a white blast of energy. One of the Bug-Mecha spun it’s head back around and pointed it at Airaxen, the small laser on it’s head glowed dark blue for a moment, then it swung its head around quickly a royal blue beam slicing through the building, just inches from Airaxen’s head. He looked up as the top of the building began to slide apart from the rest of the building and fall. Airaxen jerked his blade out of the building and jumped off the side of the building as the falling portion flattened the remaining 6 Bug-Mecha.

Soon more of the mechas came smashing through the buildings nearby, a dozen of them surrounded Airaxen.

“These stupid things just keep on coming! I take them out and more swarm at me,” he lunged at the Bug-Mecha in front of him and slashed apart it’s head, the body exploding violently right afterwards. Another one leapt up into the air, the chainsaws on it’s underside revving up to top speed. Airaxen quickly formed another orb in his left hand and slammed his hand into the ground, a thin pillar of light erupting from the ground, striking the Bug-Mecha in it’s underside and blasting it apart. 2 of them spun their heads around and pointed them at Airaxen, more green beams shot out of the heads, Airaxen raised his arms to defend, the first beam knocked his arms away, the second hit him in the chest, trying to force it’s way through Airaxen, but just shoved him back a few meters, his chest plate now covered in a series of cracks. Airaxen recovered from the attack quickly, forming two orbs in his hands and putting them together in his right hand, brought it across his body, the orb flattening into a thin beam, he swung it through the Bug-Mecha on the right diagonally upwards, then brought the beam down through the center of the other one, both of them split apart and fell onto the ground then exploded. 3 of the robots positioned themselves on either side of Airaxen, with one in front of him. Airaxen looked around, a building behind him, 3 of the Bug-Mecha around him. He pointed his wrist weapon to his right, moving it slowly around to the left then brought it back around to his right. Then all of them leapt up and at Airaxen, he simply dashed forward underneath the one in front of him, spun around as he ran a ball of radiant orange energy forming between the blades of his wrist weapon, and fired out as a medium sized beam that destroyed one of the mecha, it’s explosion blasting apart the other two. 5 of the attack force remained now, but they weren’t anywhere to be seen. He glanced around cautiously and walked down the decimated street. On cue the wind whistled loudly a few moments later, adding a touch of suspense to Airaxen’s situation. He stood still and looked around again. From the sky the remaining 5 Bug-Mecha crashed down from the sky at Airaxen. He leapt backwards, the robots smashing into the ground harshly. 4 of them leapt away, the remaining one began to glow red, then exploded in a mess of green acid, sending it flying in all directions. Airaxen jumped behind a piece of stone, it was struck by the acid and was eaten away instantly. Anything that the acid touched was being eating away. Then another Bug-Mecha came down at Airaxen, it began to glow as well, Airaxen shot up into the air right before the mecha exploded in a burst of dark green acid. He glanced around at the ground, the last 3 leapt up at him, Airaxen dropped to the ground but the Bug-Mecha expected him to do so and grabbed at him. Airaxen slashed apart the arms of one of the attacking mechas, then quickly spun about to slash the head of another one. But the third one grabbed him before he could dispatch of it and exploded in a rain of acid. Airaxen was covered in it, his armor being disintegrated, some of it ate away his blade, as well as some parts of his face, patches of blue vines appearing where the acid hit. Airaxen landed on the ground and took a seat on the ground, wincing at the stinging pain the acid gave him.

“Man, that stuff bloody hurts!” He said with his left eye closed. He stood up and glanced around for any sign of more Bug-Mecha, but nothing.

“Hm...Hey where’s Sonaris?” He asked himself. As if on cue footsteps could be heard by Airaxen, approaching him. He looked around, then spotted Tikai running towards him. She stopped in front of him breathing heavily, bent over hands on her kneecaps.

“Air, Sonaris, he’s fighting with, Omega needs some help,” she breathed out. Tikai looked up at Airaxen, then drew back with a disgusted look on her face.

“ACK! What in the world happened to your face?!”

“I’ll dump some acid on you and tell me how it makes you look when it’s done.”

“Well I didn’t expect to see you with a face that partly resembles that of a zombie!” Around the missing patches of his face the sides glowed red and began to fill out his face, returning it to it’s normal slender.

“There, happy? Now where are they fighting?” Tikai opened her mouth to respond, but again on cue something smashed into a building behind them so forcefully the top of the structure was knocked clean off the rest of it. Airaxen blinked somewhat dumbfounded, then hovered up into the air shaking off what was left of his armor.

“Right then, Tikai you stay somewhere safe, I’m going to give Sonaris a hand,” he flew towards where the building section had crashed into the ground, he surveyed the area, a pile of rubble began to shift slightly. A silvery arm shot out of the rubble and up into the air, Airaxen blinked, actually expecting to see Sonaris under the rubble, but recollected himself quickly and shot up after Omega. He put his right arm to the side again, a new blade forming from his wrist weapon. Omega pointed both his arms at Sonaris who was flying to catch up with Omega. The silver material on his arms ran up it to his shoulder, the mechanical parts underneath shifted and slid to form two cannons, he took aim at Sonaris and launched two crackling balls of orange energy at Sonaris. Omega lowered his arms, which had already began to turn back to hands, then something caught his attention, he flapped his great wings and pushed himself backwards just as Airaxen swung at where he was with an upper swung from his sword. Sonaris spun to the side and avoided Omega’s attack with ease, stopping next to Airaxen.

“What was taking you so long Airaxen?” Sonaris asked casually, Airaxen shrugged.

“Pest problem,” he said. “Alright Omega, what do you want now?!” Airaxen demanded. Omega chuckled and shrugged at him as a response.

“I just came to visit the museum is all! I heard about that diamond they have on display, and you know I love gems.”

“Then what’s with those bugs I encountered on my way here?!” Airaxen shouted.

“My bug collection must have got loose when I was away, oh well.”

“Oh aren’t you the funny man. This time I’m not letting you off the hook Omega!” Airaxen flew at him, blade arm trailing behind him. Omega reached behind his back, pulling out a small silver orb and crushing it in his hands, a blinding flash of light shot out of it, blinding Airaxen and Sonaris. When the two could see again Omega had vanished from the area. Airaxen cursed under his breath, the blade disappearing from his arm.

“Sonaris, what did Omega mean about the museum comment?”

“I was flying above the city, and I noticed something going on at the museum so I took a look, Omega had stolen the diamond it seems.” Sonaris explained. The two lowered down onto the ground where Tikai ran over to them.

“Well, what do we do now?” Tikai asked. Airaxen shrugged.

“I have no idea, we can’t find where he went,” Sonaris coughed, the others looked at him.

“Well, I think we can, the diamond he stole gives off a very unique wavelength, scientists don’t know why but it does. I probably could find some of the research results of those experiments and then begin scanning for the wavelength, then we could find Omega.”

“Sounds like a plan to me,” Airaxen said, he then grabbed Tikai by the waist and threw her in a most unceremonious matter over his shoulder.

“AIRAXEN!” Tikai shouted as she let her arms fall down to Airaxen’s knees.

“Yes?”

“As much as I like staring at your butt, not that I don’t like it, you can’t keep treating me like a sack of potatoes!”

“Ok, you’re not a sack of potatoes, you’re a sack of rice then.”

“THAT’S NOT WHAT I MEANT!”

“Joking! Joking! Take it easy there, I was just messing with you,” Tikai looked up at Airaxen who had his head turned to be looking back at her.

“You know, that was probably the first time I’ve ever heard you make a joke,” Airaxen shrugged, and flew into the air, following Sonaris who had left long ago.

* * *

Sonaris sat at the main computer console at his lab, scouring the net for the reports he was looking for. Airaxen and Tikai were informing Draken about what had happened during their outing. Draken crossed his massive arms and thought for a moment, then looked at Airaxen with his piercing blue eyes, Airaxen hated when Draken did that to him.

“Airaxen, you’re going to have to destroy Omega this time, I believe he’s gotten desperate, he won’t stop at anything to destroy you now, especially after he had to return to Dimitri, failing in terraforming the surface world with an army of virtually invincible robots will not make Dimitri happy one bit.”

“Yes I know this, and now I’ve had my fun and I’ll dispatch of him quickly,” Tikai then hit Airaxen upside the head, he winced slightly, then looked over at her.

“And what in the world was that for?!” Airaxen demanded.

“You forget, Omega beat you badly that one time, don’t be so reckless, got it?” She pointed a finger at his face, Airaxen muttered a yes, then headed to the upper level where he would train in the cool night air.

He punched the air in front of him furiously, after every third punch he would crouch down quickly and sweep the area with his leg, then after that motion was done he would balance on the leg which he did the motion with and kick in front of him in a crescent like motion, swinging around a full 360 degrees. After a few minutes of doing this, he stopped and walked over to the stone wall and leaned against it. Something was on his mind that night.

<Gah, why can’t I focus?! I need to train for my battle with Omega, so why can’t I focus?!> He slammed a fist into the ground, a crack forming in the ground. He looked around the area, it was littered with craters, cracks, and the scars of battle damage. He sighed, thinking back to when his life was much more simple, stop a robbery there, car chase there, but now things had gone from petty crime to worldwide destruction. He wondered why it was him that was selected to do the daunting task, perhaps it was destiny...It didn’t matter to him, he had a duty to do. Airaxen stood up and crossed his arms, ready to continue fighting a non-existent enemy.

About an hour later Sonaris emerged from the laboratory’s entrance.

“Alright Airaxen, it’s time we got going here,” Airaxen stopped his flurry of punches and kicks, then looked at Sonaris, short of breath and sweating.

“Right, lets get this show under way,” Airaxen reentered the lab, and shot past Draken and Tikai.

“You’re in a hurry there Airaxen,” Draken said in his half growl of a voice. Airaxen spun around to face the two and nodded.

“I’m sick of all this, it’s time to end this game now,” he responded sternly. “And why aren’t you wearing your armor Tikai?!” Tikai crossed her arms and gave him a look of annoyance.

“I need Sonaris to modify the armor a bit more.”

“What for?”

“It’s a tad of an awkward fit.”

“So? Suck it up there.”

“You be in my situation and try doing that, I wore that thing for like 2 days straight when you were still 6 feet under, and it wasn’t fun.”

“Eh, you girls are all picky,” Airaxen shrugged and crossed his arms as well. “Sonaris had better pick up the pace, Omega has something planned for that diamond, and I’d rather get there sooner then later,” Airaxen mumbled impatiently. 10 minutes passed, then Sonaris returned from his workshop.

“Ok then, now are we all set to go?” Airaxen said irritably.

“Yes, we’re all ready to go now, here you go Tikai, hopefully this will be a more comfortable fit, I forgot that this armor was made to fit me, and not a female,” Tikai took the dark blue armor from Sonaris and slipped it on. Airaxen watched her do this, then noticed that the chest plate had been bulged out a bit, he raised an eyebrow at this.

“...Err, why is there a bulge in your armor?” He asked, making him sound rather naive.

“...I have breasts you know, I sorta don’t enjoy them getting mashed up against me Air,” he blinked at her and tilted his head. “Don’t tell me you don’t even know about human anatomy!” She shouted.

“No not really.”

“Oh dear lord! Well you had better not start staring at them now!”

“Well I’ll try not to, but they’re a tad large don’t you think?” Tikai blushed furiously at this, Airaxen blinked confused.

“JUST DO IT OR I’LL SHOOT OFF PART OF YOUR HEAD!” Airaxen drew back, blinked and nodded quickly. Sonaris coughed, getting the pair’s attention.

“If we’re done with Airaxen showing more reasons he’s a fool, I suggest we get going here. Omega is somewhere in the city actually, an abandoned warehouse, which seems cliche enough,” Airaxen nodded and hovered off the ground and shot out of the lab, Draken unfurled his wings, but Sonaris shouted at him to not smash apart his lab, Draken obliged reluctantly and exited the lab before he took to the air. Tikai had her arms crossed muttering to herself, Sonaris was able to pick up a few words such as “men” and “moron” then he flew out shortly followed by Tikai.

Omega grabbed the large diamond and flew up, then placed the gem into a metal holder surrounded by tubes of metal. the tubes of metals spanned around the holder in spiral into a large metal ring, all of this floating in the air strangely. Omega dropped to the ground and crossed his arms.

“Good, good...It’s complete now. I just need to wait for the gateway to power up,” Omega’s face contorted into that of a smile, he then began to chuckle darkly to himself. Suddenly the roof was smashed apart by Draken who soared in, then the wall behind him was blasted apart, Tikai, Sonaris and Airaxen stood there.

“Talking to yourself is the first sign that you’re insane,” Tikai said. Omega jumped into a fighting stance, two beam saber hilts forming in his hands.

“You people are starting to annoy me!” Omega shouted angrily. The beam saber’s flared to life, the green flame illuminating the area within a meter with an eerie green. Omega lunged at her, she fired a barrage of small green lasers and blue beams at him. He slashed apart the beams and spun his other saber to form a shield to block out the smaller lasers. Tikai stopped firing, the and flared her jets to send her way off to the side, Omega turned and slashed at her, but missed by a hair. Draken came crashing down on Omega, but he flapped up into the air, right before Draken smashed his massive fist into the ground, the tiles flying in all directions. But then he was struck in the back by a large white orb, he was knocked to the ground where Draken swiped at him with his claws and slammed him into a wall. Sonaris then came in, swinging around his two swords like a mad man, then joined them at the hilts to form his double-blade and jabbed the blade at Omega’s head, he parried the move with a beam saber at the last second. Sonaris leapt back, Tikai and Airaxen rushed in, Tikai firing at him like there was no tomorrow, Airaxen released another of his patented Dark-light attacks, this time in the form of a massive beam of energy. Omega couldn’t avoid that attack, and was engulfed in a white orb of energy, after it cleared Omega’s silver metal armor was oozing off his robotic skeleton body, but it all returned in a few seconds, leaving Omega looking as if nothing had happened to him.

“Dimitri gave me an upgrade,” Omega said with a smirk. “Now I’ll show you my true power!” The silver covering of his arms oozed together while the metal arm under it began to shift, 5 seconds later his right arm had turned into the hilt of a massive beam saber, his left arm began another large arsenal of laser weaponry.

“Oh this can’t be good,” Tikai muttered. Airaxen grabbed Tikai and leapt to the side as Omega fired a dozen beams, which arced through the air and blasted apart where the two were just standing. Draken and Sonaris rushed at Omega, he swung his right arm at the two, an enormous 10 meter long, glowing green blade. Draken grabbed the blade with his hands, which slowly began to burn his hands, until he let go and leapt back. Sonaris took this time and got close to Omega and slashed at him with one of his swords. It knocked him back, a deep gash in Omega’s chest. The four of them gathered back in front of Omega, who was chuckling to himself.

“You fools don’t realize that you’re all too late! The gateway has been powering up while we fought, and now it’s fully powered, ready to rip apart the space-time continuum! I’m going to go back through time to when Dimitri began to create you Airaxen, and stop him. I don’t care if it erases myself from time and space, but with this being my last chance I have no choice!” Omega raised his left arm and blasted a giant hole through the roof of the warehouse, the giant metal ring off in the corner floated up and through the roof high into the air. Omega flew up and laughed maniacally. The gateway’s edges began to glow silver, then expanded to form a giant glowing white orb, it flickered and then cleared up and became an image of the insides of the laboratory that Sonaris and Airaxen were created in. Omega’s arms reverted back to normal, then he flew up at the portal. Airaxen, Sonaris, Tikai and Draken gave chase to Omega, but were unable to catch up to the silver demon. Airaxen formed two white orbs in his hands in desperation, then released the energy as a thin white beam. Omega’s right wing was sliced clean off, he then plummeted to the ground, lying on his back, staring up at the gateway to the past. He leapt back to his feet, then swung his arms out in front of him and made a bunch of hand motions. The top and bottom of the gateway broke open and flattened back out into a disk, then stopped glowing. Draken charged in and smashed his claw into the very center of the gateway, not destroying it, but sending the gateway flying into the air uncontrollably.

“NO! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!” Omega screamed, he ran to where his wing had fallen, grabbed it and turned it back into silver metal ooze, which ran along his arm and back to his right shoulder where it grew back into his wing. He shot up into the air franticly, trying to catch up to the gateway. Sonaris intercepted him, tackling him as he flew up, sending Omega tumbling along in the air. After Omega had caught himself in the air, he tried to continue after the gateway, but Airaxen’s voice stopped him.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” Airaxen said coolly, Omega looked at him, Airaxen had his wrist weapon formed and already fully charged, as well as two white orbs in each hand, Tikai was next to him, all weapons pointing at Omega. He looked above him, Draken was there, arms crossed looking down at him menacingly. Then he looked under him, Sonaris was there, his arm cannon fully charged and glowing, pointing at him, his situation was looking bleak.

“You fools! When that oversized dragon struck the gateway, you’ve damaged it’s systems! Who knows what the gateway will do now! It has the power to rip apart time and space itself! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU’VE DONE?!” Omega roared. Airaxen, Sonaris and Tikai looked up at Draken, all of them with a somewhat annoyed look, Draken looked back at them feverishly.

“Oops?” Draken offered as an answer. The gateway began to hum loudly and precariously, getting the attention of the combatants. The gateway began to fire bolts of black lightning in all directions. The gateway’s edges glowed white again then closed back up into a white orb, which flickered then turned into a mass of swirling black and purple, the gateway fired more black bolts of lightning, some striking buildings and shattering them. Then, the gateway began to start sucking up all the things in the area, dozens of pieces of wreckage fly up and into the gateway.

“The gateway is out of control, it’s ripped open a hole in space and time, you imbeciles might have just destroyed your planet. Oh how ironic is that?” Omega laughed manically.

“Shut up and shut the thing off!” Airaxen shouted over the roar of the noises the gateway was creating. Omega looked at Airaxen and laughed again.

“The gateway is out of control, it’s impossible to stop it now!” Omega cackled one last time, and transformed his arms into cannons, and shot at them, distracting them from avoiding being sucked up into the gateway. Airaxen pointed his hands at Omega.

“Now I’m getting tired of you! Dark-light blast!” The orb formed between the blades of Airaxen’s wrist weapon fired off as a giant beam of orange energy, he pointed his open palms at Omega, the two orbs combining then turning into a bright semi-transparent white beam which combined with the second beam. Omega tried to avoid it, but could do no such thing and was struck in the chest, the explosion created by the beams disintegrated his silver covering again, as well as his wings. Omega, with no means to fly was being sucked in by the gateway, he laughed and glanced at Airaxen.

“This won’t be the last time we meet Airaxen! I’ll be back to kill you yet!” Omega cackled as his body approached the gateway, and began to break apart into tiny pieces and were sucked in. Now the team tried to escape the suction of the gateway, but it simply increased in power, more black lightning being fired out. The gateway fired out a large bolt at Airaxen, he couldn’t dodge with the gateway trying to suck him in, and was struck in the side, losing his concentration and sent hurtling at the gateway. Tikai lunged at Airaxen, and grabbed onto his arm, but now they were both hurtling towards the gateway. Draken grabbed Tikai’s leg, and flung both of them away.

“Get out of here!” He bellowed. Now Draken was being hurtled towards the gateway, Sonaris grabbed at him, but missed and was sent flying into the gateway. Airaxen flew at the two, not wanting to abandon them, Tikai hanging on this arm for dear life. But Draken and Sonaris were to close to the gateway, and began to break apart, and get sucked into the gateway, Airaxen couldn’t stop in time, and was pulled into the gateway. His body felt strange as he was being taken apart, piece by piece. It wasn’t painful, but it was a strange sensation, then he was sucked into the gateway along with Tikai. After sucking up the two, the gateway suddenly stopped firing bolts of black lightning, stopped sucking up everything in the area, then imploded on itself and exploded in a brilliant supernova.

Airaxen’s body rebuilt itself after being sucked into the gateway, he was now inside a massive void that resembled the one that he was in while dead with Draken. A powerful force was hurtling him through the void which was littered with rips and holes leading to no where. He looked around, Sonaris and Draken were ahead of him, Tikai was still hanging onto his arm. Then he noticed something in the distance, it was Omega and he was flying straight at him. He charged past Sonaris and Draken, and grabbed Airaxen around the neck and began to strangle him. Airaxen grabbed Omega’s head and shoved him off, then kicked him in the chest, sending him flying to the side, but he swung around and lunged at Airaxen again, but Sonaris and Draken tackled him out of the way and began to wrestle him, Airaxen looked back at the three as they were then separated by a bolt of lightning that came out of nowhere, the three of them were sent flying into three different tears in the void. Airaxen looked forward again, now a new force was being put onto him, this one trying to tear him apart. He gritted his teeth, fighting to keep himself in one piece, then he looked over at Tikai who was experiencing a similar sensation from the look on her face. He moved his hand over his chest plate, the crystals glowing and shooting out of it and into his hand, he forced open Tikai’s free hand and put the crystals into it, the strain showing on her face lessened, but the force on Airaxen was came at him tenfold now. Tikai looked at his face, he looked like he was in pain, but he was able to muster the strength to pat her on the head gently. Airaxen looked ahead, the area in front was getting darker and much more chaotic, lightning was everywhere, and now larger tears in the void were appearing. They kept on hurtling through the void, until a lightning bolt struck someplace in front of them, shredding the void, creating an enormous rupture in the fabric of time and space, one which the two were about to fly into. Airaxen tried to avoid it, but had no more strength, he was barely able to keep himself from being torn apart, right before they were thrown into the hole he swore he heard laughter, laughter that sent shivers down his spine.

* * *

Tikai lay on the ground, it was slightly moist, the grass was rather soft and comfortable. She was tired, but awake, not wanting to get up or open her eyes. She sighed softly and rolled over, opening her eyes slightly. The sky was nice and tranquil, without a cloud in the sky. Suddenly she remembered what had just happened, Airaxen and her were in a strange void, being hurtled through it, then were thrown into that hole, now they were here, for that matter, where was Airaxen? She stood up and looked around for him, but there was no sign of him. She flared the jets on her armor to life and flew up, she was on a relatively small island that was mostly just plains with a large city in it’s center, so she headed towards it.

Tikai landed at an intersection, there were no cars in the city, the entire place looked very futuristic, buildings that were shaped oddly, roadways running across from building to building. She looked around at the people that walked past her, she heard something about a strange person appearing in the city square through a strange portal, Tikai flew past the people, where she came across a crowd of people around a crater. She simply flew over them and looked down into the crater, there lay Airaxen, now armor-less and back in his street clothes; a blue shirt and a pair of tan cargo pants, the only thing he ever wore really. She landed next to him and lifted him up slightly, shaking him. He opened his eyes slightly and groaned.

“Oh man, my head is killing me! Eh? Tikai...Where in the world are we?” Airaxen asked blankly.

“I don’t know, but wherever we are the place is sorta futuristic, so maybe a few years through time? The gateway could rip open a rift in space and time as Omega said,” but when she said Omega’s name everyone drew back with a sharp breath of awe. Murmuring ran through the crowd, Airaxen could hear things like “she dares to say his name!” And “maybe they know the Great Omega, that or they’re fools!” Airaxen stood up and narrowed his eyes.

“What do you mean the Great Omega? He’s nothing more then a psychopath!” The crowd looked at him as if he was insane.

“Aren’t you afraid of him?!” Shouted some woman.

“No way! I gave that moron a beating, and my friend Airaxen over here blasted him into pieces so many times!” Tikai said proudly, Airaxen suppressed a smirk.

“Omega’s time has expired already, and I’m going to make sure he’s finished once and for all,” the crowd of people began to cheer at Airaxen’s comment, and rushed in and started to wish good luck on the two. But an explosion nearby scattered the crowd instantly. Airaxen and Tikai began to scan the area for where the explosion came from. Airaxen saw something in the distance, two figures doing battle, one was in the air firing at the other who was darting along the ground at incredible speed. Airaxen looked closer at the two, on the ground was a girl. She had long crimson red hair trailing from her head which could go down to about her waist. Airaxen noticed something slightly odd thou, she had two ears on the top of her head which looked like that of a fox, but he thought he was seeing things and dismissed it. Underneath left eye was a small red triangle, the pointed part pointing down, on her neck a black band of some sort. She wore a red tank top as and some jeans, but had some armor on. She had two large curved shoulder pads, with two pieces of armor hanging under them for some protection for her arms, which were red as well. She had on what appeared to be the legs of a mecha suit, again they were a shade of red. Lastly, Airaxen took note of something peculiar, he swore that she had a red tail, like that of a fox. Tikai then tapped him on the shoulder and pointed at the second figure in the air.

“Air! That’s Sonaris, look!” She shouted enthusiastically. Airaxen looked up at the figure, it was indeed Sonaris, but he looked different; damaged. His armor was discolored and cracking, the wolf cannon on his right arm was missing a few pieces, Sonaris looked like he had fought a tough battle. Sonaris kept on firing at the girl, slightly more of the cannon would break off with each shot, the girl would swerve to the side and easily avoid Sonaris’s attack. He then landed on the ground, breathing heavily.

“Oh poor you, I’m sorry did I wear you out old man?” The girl said arrogantly. Sonaris had his left eye closed, and looked back at her with his right.

“You’re always attacking this city! You pirates are the scum of this era!” Sonaris retorted. The girl narrowed her eyes at Sonaris.

“Be quiet old man, or I’ll have to beat you again,” she said annoyed.

“Bah!” Sonaris raised his arms to the side, thousands of minuscule orbs of green light shooting from his body. “Energy burst!” The orbs fired out at the girl who zigzagged past them and up to Sonaris, then kicked him squarely in the chest, sending him back a few feet and onto the ground, more of his armor broke off and fell to the ground. Airaxen and Tikai dashed over to Sonaris’s side, helping him back up.

“Heh...I knew you two would come back...Just needed to give it some time...” Sonaris said weakly before falling unconscious.

“Tikai, take Sonaris somewhere safe, try and repair him he needs them badly, I’ll take care of her,” Tikai nodded, and lifted Sonaris up and dragged him off. Airaxen looked at the red haired girl and crossed his arms.

“Alright then, who are you?” Airaxen demanded.

“My name is Yasosume, the very best pirate out there! And you don’t stand a chance against me you human,” Airaxen smirked, letting his arms fall to the side, the grid schematic of his armor weaved around his body and filled out to make his armor.

“Incase you didn’t notice this about my hair and eyes, I’m not even close to being a human. And I’m guessing that you fall in the same category you...Animal...Thing...Right anyway,” Yasosume looked annoyed at this comment, but smirked back at him.

“Well, hopefully you’re more of a match then that pathetic Sonaris,” she said while making a fireball in her hand.

“Oh yeah, I’m much more then a match then Sonaris is.”

“Well lets see what you got Snow-white,” Airaxen formed a ball of energy in his left hand and spun around, slightly downwards and slammed his hand into the ground.

“Dark-light!” In front of him a two meter wide pillar of light shot out of the ground and plowed through the ground towards Yasosume. She countered by mimicking the same action, but with the fireball in her hand.

“Magma tower!” A two meter wide pillar of red fire erupted out of the ground and made it’s way at Airaxen’s Dark-light attack. The two collided with each other in a massive explosion that blasted apart the walkways overhead, as well as blowing away anything smaller then a car. Airaxen formed his blade weapon and charged through the explosion at where Yasosume was. He leapt out of the explosion and slashed at Yasosume, but she spun to the side and kicked him in the back.

“Oh man, you’re moving in slow-motion!” She mocked. Airaxen stumbled forward but was able to keep upright. He spun around the blades on his weapon splitting apart, he fired a beam at her, but she avoided the attack easily and formed two fireballs in her hands and threw them at Airaxen, who slashed both of them apart.

“Have to do better then that,” Yasosume chuckled. “Ok,” she reached across her body and into the shoulder pad, pulling out three kunai throwing knives, each with a red center at the end, she threw them at Airaxen, but he leapt to the side and avoided them, as they lodged themselves into the ground and exploded. Yasosume took out 6 more and threw them at Airaxen again, he leapt up and formed a orb in his hand and threw it down at her.

“Dark-light bomb!” As the orb flew at her it grew to the size of a car. Yasosume leapt off to the side, but the force of the orb exploding on the ground flung her back, Airaxen charged in, the blades to his weapon closing up, he swung at her, but she shot a stream of fire to the side to push her away, one of her shoulder pads were still cut apart thou.

“You! You actually hit me! You’re the only person that actually hit me!” Yasosume said in disbelief, Airaxen turned around and looked at her, then chuckled.

“First time for everything,” he said coolly. Yasosume took out three throwing knives from her remaining shoulder pad with her left hand, forming a large fireball in her right, then in one swift motion she let go of the fireball, but before it began to fly through the air she slammed her left hand into it sending it at Airaxen. He slashed apart the fireball, but was taken by surprise by the 3 throwing knives within it, the knives lodged themselves into his chest plate, then exploded at point blank range, sending Airaxen flying back, skidding along the ground. Airaxen leapt back onto his feet, his chest plate sparking slightly.

“Sneaky, aren’t you?” Airaxen rubbed his chest gingerly, Yasosume laughed at him.

“How pathetic! You can barely take a hit!”

“Hey! I just went through a rip in time and space, which I was nearly ripped apart in, you try that and see how battle ready you are!” Airaxen formed two orbs in his hands, then flung one of them at her as a bomb, but Yasosume was ready and leapt high into the air onto a walkway to avoid the attack, Airaxen predicted she would do such a thing, and flattened the remaining orb out into a beam.

“Dark-light slash!” Airaxen slashed apart the walkways above him, Yasosume was unprepared for such an attack and fell to the ground. Airaxen formed two more orbs, slamming his fist into the ground, a ball of white energy ripping through the ground towards her. She covered quickly enough, but was still struck by the fast moving orb, and blasted back. Airaxen zigzagged up to her, then slammed the remaining orb into the ground.

“Dark-light crash!” A giant wave of white energy shot out from where the orb slammed into the ground and engulfed her in the energy, an agonized scream could be heard from the wave. Yasosume lay on the ground, her armor destroyed. She got up slowly, extremely angry now.

“Ok, now you’re working my nerves little boy,” she growled at him.

“Well if I’m a little boy then you’re an old hag!” Airaxen retorted with. Yasosume growled menacingly at Airaxen, then put her open palms together and pointed them at him.

“BURN!” She screamed as two giant jets of fire shot out of her hands. Airaxen raised his arms to defend against the attack. The flames engulfed him, burning away his armor as he was forced back and up against a building, the power of the stream of fire forcing him into it. The flames died down soon after, Airaxen lowered his arms, the tips of his hair smoldering as well as his armor. Yasosume charged at him, putting her hands out in front of her, a large fireball forming and encasing her body in flames. Airaxen grabbed Yasosume by the arms, despite his gauntlets beginning to melt. He let go of her arms for a split second, leapt up and kicked her squarely in the face, sending her stumbling back a few meters.

“You’re the first person to damaged so much whoever you are,” Yasosume said quietly. “What’s your name?”

“The name is Airaxen, best you don’t forget it.”

“Well Airaxen, I must admit you are quite the fighter, but you’re still no match for me!”

“Give it up, you’re going down so live with it!” Airaxen formed two orbs in his hands, and slammed them into the ground, two giant towers shooting out from the sides and carving through the ground towards Yasosume. She leapt forward, forming a fireball in her left hand. She landed in front of Airaxen and slammed the fireball into the ground.

“Magma flow!” A giant wave of fire shot out at him, blasting him through the wall and into the building. Yasosume formed more fireballs and flung them at the building until it collapsed from the third fireball. She smirked, confident that was the end of Airaxen. She turned around and laughed, then began to walk away, suddenly a beam of light shot out and skimmed the edge of her leg. Yasosume spun around, Airaxen was back up and standing, looking worn down but standing none the less.

“Ok, now I’m starting to get annoyed here Yasosume,” he said in an exasperated voice, one of his eyes half closed. He formed two more white orbs in his hands, Yasosume chuckled at how predictable her opponent was. Airaxen ran at her, then swung his arm as if he were about to throw something, so Yasosume prepared for another large orb to fly at her and leapt high into the air, but Airaxen had fooled her and never intended to use his Dark-light attack as a bomb. He skidded to a stop and put both orbs together and shot out a large white beam up at her. She raised her arms to defend, but it was a futile effort, the beam collided with her and engulfed her in a large white orb which was the explosion, then sent her plummeting to the ground, her body shooting out sparks profoundly. Yasosume groaned weakly, and began to get up slowly, but the tip of a blade was shoved in front of her face, she looked up it and straight into Airaxen’s face. She shifted her glance to the side, in disgust at her only defeat.

“Well, finish it,” she said bitterly. Airaxen lowered his arm, the blade on his arm disappearing. “Huh? Why didn’t you?”

“I don’t have any reason to kill you, but if I see you causing trouble here again, I’m going to make sure to use more power in my Dark-light attacks,” Yasosume stood up slowly, on cue a large purple aircraft that looked like a large purple can with wings on the sides and top, two guns at the front and a skull mark on the sides landed behind Yasosume.

“Next time we meet, I’ll make sure to beat you! I swear I will!” Airaxen chuckled as she began to limp onto the ship.

“Don’t count on it,” he said with a smirk. He watched as the ship lifted off the ground and flew off, then turned around to survey the area. Mostly everything in the general area was lit on fire, some walkways above were cut apart from his attacks, but generally all in all the area was intact. Airaxen walked around looking for Tikai, the area was free of all people, it seemed that most of them were all scared off by the battle. Tikai shouted from off to Airaxen’s left, he ran down the intersection and made a sharp left turn over to Tikai who was waving at him, standing outside of a building labeled “Inn”.

“I couldn’t help you out in the battle, but I hope you didn’t have too much trouble. Oh yeah! I forgot to give these back to you,” Tikai reached into her pocket and pulled out all 9 crystals, the crystals glowed and turned into colored orbs of light and flew into Airaxen’s hand.

“...No...I didn’t need any of them...At all,” Airaxen said in a strained voice, knowing full well he could’ve used the crystal of fire to make the battle with Yasosume much easier. “Well, how’s Sonaris doing?” He asked quickly.

“Sonaris doesn’t look that well, he’s got cracks running all over his body, even without the armor his body looks like some statue someone brought a sledgehammer too.”

“I see, well perhaps he can tell us what’s happened here,” They walked into the Inn, Tikai took him to an upstairs room where Sonaris lay on a bed, unconscious with a female nurse standing over him.

“Are you two his friends?” The nurse asked.

“Yes we are,” Airaxen responded.

“He’s been through a lot for our little city of Lutenia, always trying to fend off those pirates,” the nurse shook her head and sighed.

“What do you know about that girl Yasosume anyway?” Airaxen asked.

“Well, those pirates would come here on a daily basis and reek havoc and steal from us, or if they were just bored would simply come here to destroy the city. But god bless Sonaris, he was always here to help us from day one, he always fends off the pirates, but no one in the city can ever repair him it’s sad really.”

“I see...Well is there anything else you know?”

“Hm...I do remember that their leader is a man who calls himself Chaos.”

* * *

Over the airspace of Lutenia floated a large airship, waiting for it’s scout ship to return from retrieving Yasosume. The ship was about the size of small city. The back was a massive floating grey orb with yellow rune markings running horizontally on it. The rest of the ship was built onto the front of the orb. Right in front of the orb was a large greenish-yellow tower-like structure which sloped down slightly a third of the way down and then sloped down at a sharper angle until it hit the rest of the ship’s frame. In front of the tower it extended for about a kilometer there were three black ovals on a hill, all of which had yellow and orange blinking lines on them. A panel on the side of the ship slid open and allowed the incoming scout ship to enter it.

“God damnit, that stupid what’s-his-face, Airaxen yeah that’s it. That idiot did this damage to me, no one has ever come close to what he did, and yet I’m not too keen on revenge...How strange,” the scouting ship docked, the small robot piloting the craft, which oddly enough looked like the small robots that Sonaris used to use for servants until they were destroyed. The small robot walked over to Yasosume and helped her up and off the ship, into the massive docking bay.

“You know, I didn’t think you’d be beaten by some little boy, that’s just disappointing Yasosume,” came a man’s voice. Yasosume looked over to the right, there standing was the person known by the world as Chaos, but Yasosume knew that his real name was Grant and he was embarrassed by it, didn’t cause enough fear in people. But his general appearance was becoming more feared by the citizens of Lutenia each and every time they came to raid their city. He was a fit middle age man, who had spiky blond hair and wore mostly military like clothes. He had broad shoulders like that of a solider, and generally wasn’t the person someone would want to meet in a dark alley.

“Well Grant I’d like to see you try and beat Airaxen. Unlike Sonaris he can’t fight and well, but next time I see him I’m using the Mikuri Shimoir on him.”

“NEVER CALL ME THAT! And don’t you think using the Mikuri Shimoir is a tad much? Not that I don’t enjoy watching that thing in action.”

“I don’t know, he basically said at the end of our fight that he was holding back, and if that’s the case then I’m taking him out with everything I got, Airaxen could be a pain in your butts now that we’re trying to gain access to the underground tunnel network.”

“That’s right, legend speaks of untold power waiting for whoever can uncover it, and we’re going to be the ones that find it! Then even Omega, no Dimitri himself will have to look at us in fear!” Chaos began to laugh manically, Yasosume walked away towards the back of the ship, the orb section which was completely her work area for the creations she makes; but most of them explode in her face.

<Good lord, why did we have to find the biggest ship made in those ruins? It takes forever to walk across it! God damnit,> she thought to herself. After a 5 minute walk she approached a giant double door with a large eye like device on it’s center, it began to turn and slide apart open to allow her in.

“Ah, home sweet home,” she said to herself quietly, as she entered the orb, at least a mile in diameter with 20 meter long floors sticking out of the walls surrounding the area, like rings for extra storage. There were 5 floors in the orb with a large circle at the top that was like a sun roof, as well as numerous windows around the inside of the orb. What covered most of the area were parts for ships, mechas, weapons, whatever it was she would have some sort of mechanical part whether it was modern, or some ancient piece of technology from the Myreison era. Yasosume walked over to a large workstation and gathered some tools she left lying around and sat down, welding in the parts where she was still firing out sparks, her body could repair on it’s own, but the process took extremely long.

“Oh what I wouldn’t give to capture that stupid Airaxen and make him into my personal slave, oh that would be nice, I’ve always wanted a personal slave, those stupid robotic servants I’ve made are rather stupid, but loyal none the less,” Yasosume smirked at the thought of what she’d make Airaxen do if that would ever to happen. “Wait, why am I thinking about that loser?! Gah, stupid moron, I swear I’ll kill him...But first I have more important things to do, like making a tunneling robot since the city won’t let us get into the underground network by use with of the entrances the Myreisons built to get up here. I wonder if he’ll be there...Probably like some all Lutenia hero like Sonaris, well...I don’t think I’d mind too much, fighting him is actually amusing, but I’m still going to have to kill him anyway,” she muttered with a shrug. Yasosume put away the welder and stood up, testing out her joints to make sure everything worked properly. Then she walked towards the center of the room, there standing in the center of the room was a nearly complete ivory-white robot of some sort.

“My newest masterpiece...One that had better not blow up like the other 5!” Yasosume walked towards the body of the robot which was a gigantic octahedron with a blood red gem on the front of it. The two arms floating next to it were two thinner octahedrons with large four long sharp claws. It’s head was a translucent crystal sphere with a large red circle at the front. All of the piece didn’t touch each other, but instead floated about half a meter away from the body of the strange machine.

“This ancient drilling robot I salvaged in my last trip to the underground is just what I need to gain access to the underground network on this island, I must have the power in there! But before I go back out there this thing needs more weapons now that I have a worthy opponent,” Yasosume walked up to one of the upper floors and took a large laser weapon off a shelf and went back to the robot, but then stopped and looked over the weapon she just took.

“I wonder if this still works...” She pointed it up at the sunroof and pulled the trigger, nothing happened. “That’s odd...Maybe if I...” Yasosume grabbed a wrench off the ground and began to open up a panel on the weapon and fiddle around with the circuitry.

“This should work, why doesn’t it work?!” She brought the wrench back around towards her, but as she did so the wrench gapped two major pieces of metal in the circuitry, and it caused the weapon to hum precariously. It glowed bright white, emitting a bright light (Yasosume sighed dismally) then exploded in Yasosume’s face, the force of the blast shaking the entire ship.

“Yasosume! What the bloody hell did you just do?!” Shouted Chaos’s voice over an intercom system. After the smoke cleared there stood a charred-black Yasosume, with soot covering her face and the tips of her hair on fire, a look of extreme annoyance on her face. She licked her index finger and with the moistened finger put out the larger of the fires in her hair with a sizzle.

“Oh shut up you retard.”

Sonaris opened his eyes slowly, still weak from the day’s battle. His body was slowly repairing itself, but was still not enough for him to run at optimal levels. He turned his head to the side, looking out the window. Night had fallen, the stars were very peaceful looking to him. He turned his head to the other side and looked at the sleeping form of a nurse sitting in a chair. The nurse, Maria would always tend to him after he got into a fight with the pirates, he found this rather kind of her but still annoying at times. Sonaris sat up slowly, grunting many times as he did so.

“Gah, my body can’t last much longer at this rate, doesn’t matter, even with Airaxen and Tikai back at long last I still need to fight-ARGH!” Sonaris tried to stand, but a sharp jolt of pain shot through his body and sent him back onto the bed, flat on his back. By now Maria was awake again and put a hand on his shoulder.

“Sonaris, you have to rest, you won’t be around for much longer if you don’t take my advice,” she said softly.

“Maria you know I have a job to do, Yasosume will be back here tomorrow and I’m going to help fend her, and her creations off. Good lord, now I know how Airaxen felt when I sent my robots to attack him.”

“I watched the fight through the window, your friends can take care of them, you have to rest doctor’s orders, got it?” Maria said sternly. Sonaris opened his mouth to say something, but she put a hand over his mouth, he frowned in return.

“Sonaris, you know I wouldn’t allow you to hurt yourself like this, but you always get away from me before I can stop you,” she removed her hand from Sonaris’s mouth. He looked over at her and sighed quietly.

“Maria, you’ve spent your entire life idolizing me, from when you were born on this island and Omega attacked, to when you started to be a nurse. Why?” Sonaris asked, Maria sat down on the bed and looked back and smiled.

“Well, I...” Before she could finish Airaxen and Tikai opened the door and walked in slowly.

“Hope you don’t mind some old friends dropping in like the annoying pests we are,” Airaxen said quietly, with a smirk on his face.

“Oh shut up Air, you speak for yourself. How you doing there Sonaris?” Tikai inquired. Sonaris sat up with Maria’s help, wincing at each sudden movement.

“I’m still talking, moving, so I’m alright. Airaxen,” he looked over at Airaxen sternly. “Would it be ok if we could talk alone?” He said while glancing at Tikai and Maria.

“Oh come on, I want to hear this!” Maria whined. “You’ve told me so many stories about your time Sonaris, come on, let me hear this!” Sonaris shook his head, much to her disappointment. “Fine, but I’m only going when she’s going,” Airaxen looked at Sonaris who looked back with the same look on his face. Airaxen nodded, turned around and lifted both of the girls by the collar of their clothes.

“As much as I don’t want to do this, I’m sorry miss, oh yeah you too Tikai,” he dropped them both off outside of the room and closed the door, locking it.

“Well then, what is it you have to tell me Sonaris?” Airaxen asked quizzically. Sonaris motioned him to sit in the chair next to his bed.

“Airaxen, do you remember when we all went to face Omega that one day, and he used the gateway device to rip apart space and time?” Airaxen nodded slowly.

“Yeah, we all got sucked into that thing after Draken damaged it, and all thrown into that void thing and then got thrown out of it.”

“Yes well, when Omega, Draken and myself were ejected from the time-space continuum we were all thrown about a month into the future,” Airaxen raised an eyebrow, his attention now caught.

“I knew that one day...You had to be ejected from the time-space continuum...I never thought it would be a 1000 years later...” Airaxen jumped out of his chair and raised his fist to his face.

“WHAT?! We’re a thousands years into the future?! What happened?!”

* * *

Tikai and Maria had their ears pressed up against the door, trying to make out what was being said, but they only heard mumbling, or Airaxen shouting. So the two gave up trying to eavesdrop on the conversation, Tikai would just bug Airaxen until he told her. She looked over at Maria who looked back at Tikai.

“I hope you don’t if I ask, but what’s up with you and Sonaris? If you don’t mind that is!” Tikai waved her hands in front of herself quickly afterwards. Maria shrugged.

“I don’t mind. Sonaris was here when Omega had came to attack the city, during that attack...He killed many people...My parents were one of them,” Maria turned away from Tikai, holding onto her right arm.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know...”

“No, it’s ok. That’s when Sonaris first came to the island, he helped out those families who were hit the hardest by his attack, and that’s when he found me, and put me into an orphanage. Everyday I would watch him fix up the city, and he’d then come to the orphanage to tell stories to the children there. He would always tell of his time, and his friends, mostly because Sonaris is lousy with stories. But he would always finish off his story telling time by saying that he would get rid of Omega and Dimitri, that always gave hope to us who lost family because of them. I stayed in the orphanage until I was 18, where I would always help him out tending to the children. After I got an education I decided to become a nurse, mostly so I could help Sonaris, because at that time the pirates came and always gave us a hard time, he stayed here to defend us from them.”

“Aww, that’s so romantic, now if only I could get that dunce Airaxen to be more like that...”

“Your name is Tikai, right?” Tikai nodded at her.

“That’s right, why?”

“I still remember the stories Sonaris tells to the children. Did...You really...I mean...Did you actually shoot Omega right in his eye?” Tikai smiled broadly and nodded happily.

“Oh yeah, that’s right I did. The armor I left in my room is the same armor that I’ve used in all those battles, I wonder if I still have little specks of Omega’s silver body left on the right gauntlet...” Maria spun around, her face lit up in renewed hope.

“And your friend, that’s Airaxen, Right? Sonaris said that when he was still a bad guy that Airaxen could always beat him up. And then when Omega came he was killed, but came back and destroyed his entire army, is that really true?”

“Of course it is. I don’t really know what’s happened after we got sucked up into the gateway thou...But whatever has happened, we’re going to fix things now. Now I’m going to go barge in on those two, want to help?”

* * *

“AIRAXEN! Calm down...Just...Calm down,” Airaxen was enraged about being told that now the Myreisons ruled the planet, the humans were nothing more then their play toys. Everything he had fought to prevent had happened, and now a new world order was in place.

“Let me finish my story Airaxen...Gah, I don’t-” at that instant the door to the room was blasted apart, splinters of wood flying in all directions. Tikai stood at the door wearing her battle armor, Maria behind her looking a tad distressed.

“Oh dear...That was a tad uncalled for, wouldn’t you say so Tikai?” Maria said quietly.

“Yes, but...I like to do things that aren’t called for!” Airaxen looked at her and blinked annoyed.

“...You are a freaking psycho,” he said while shaking his head dismally. Sonaris chuckled quietly.

“I thought that would happen, that’s alright I guess it wouldn’t kill anyone, eh?” Airaxen’s right eyelid twitched slightly at Sonaris’s comment. “That...Probably wasn’t the best choice of words...”

“What gave you that idea?” Airaxen growled at him.

“Ok, now all of you shut up and let Sonaris tell us what happened here,” interrupted Tikai. Sonaris nodded at her. Airaxen and Tikai pulled up chairs and took a seat next to the bed, Maria sat down in the chair she was sitting in a few minutes. Sonaris looked around at the crowd and cleared his throat.

“It’s been so long...I barely remember but it’s all still there. After we were all sucked into the rip in the time-space continuum, Omega, Draken and myself were all thrown out of it soon after we had entered, being ejected just one month into the future. Draken and I fought Omega trying to destroy him for good but he was able to overpower us...”

“GAH!” Sonaris was blasted back by the barrage of lasers Omega shot at him, knocking him into a building. Draken roared from far behind Omega, the gem on his chest glowing white. Omega turned around his right arm turning into a beam saber. Draken opened his mouth wide, electricity crackling around the ground he stood on. A brilliant silver beam shot out of his mouth and engulfed Omega, the beam grew to 3 times it’s original size disintegrating everything it touched.

“Did we get him?” Sonaris asked when the beam had dissipated.

“When we thought the battle was over, it wasn’t...In that month Dimitri himself had began to prepare an attack. One that would be more devastating then anything the world had ever seen.

“What’s that sound?” Sonaris inquired about a faint marching he could hear off in the distance.

“...You know...I don’t think you’d really want to know...” Draken replied apprehensively. They prepared their weapons again looking from side to side cautiously, the marching getting louder. The shadows of thousands of people could be seen on the horizon, all of them wearing golden armor which reflected the moonlight off it. The people were more like strange creatures, mutated animals that were sent into battle.

“They’re here...” Draken muttered under his breath.

“Who are?!” Sonaris demanded.

“The Myreisons,” Sonaris drew back in disbelief, looking back at the army of Myreisons approaching. To add to the atmosphere, a loud sinister laughter rippled through the air as the masses approached. Sonaris looked around for where the laughter was coming from, he then noticed a black figure standing on top of a pillar of stone; Sonaris knew exactly who it was, Dimitri. He was wearing his usual pitch-black cloak, his right eye was a large silver circular device, with a bright red gem in it’s center which was his eye.

“Sonaris...How nice to see you after so long! A pity that it wasn’t on friendlier terms but that’s alright, I’ll just have to destroy you,” Dimitri swung his right arm free of his cloak, it wasn’t like a normal arm it was instead a large claw was in the place of his forearm. It was black with strange yellow rune markings, the claw had 4 pincers to it arranged in a cross. Dimitri opened and closed his claw a few times, then threw off his cloak, he was wearing a formidable looking suit of black armor with red highlights on it. The army had finally stopped about 10 meters away, eyes glowing menacingly.

“Sonaris...Run,” Draken growled quietly.

“WHAT?! NEVER! I’d never run away from a fight!” Sonaris roared. Dimitri laughed at the two, suddenly as if on cue the building next to the pillar Dimitri was standing on shattered, Omega shooting up and out of it, hovering behind Dimitri.

“I hope I didn’t miss the show,” Omega sneered.

“Look Sonaris, listen to me. I’ll be alright, but we don’t need the both of us dying. Don’t worry about me, like I said I’ll be alright. One of us has to be alive when Airaxen and Tikai return to us, and that person should be you. Now go!” Sonaris looked away, unable to decide what to do.

“...Alright Draken...I’m...sorry,” Draken shook his head.

“Get out of here!” He roared at Sonaris. He nodded and shot up into the air and flew off as fast as he could.

“Should we do anything to stop him?” Omega asked Dimitri. He shook his head.

“What’s the rush? We have all the time in the world!”

“As I flew away I could hear the explosions, the cries of pain, the song of battle. I couldn’t look back, I knew if I did I couldn’t leave Draken alone to face the army of Myreisons. The last thing I saw of the battle was a blinding blast of light from behind me, and an earth shattering explosion soon after. When I had escaped the war zone I went to my lab and took as many things as I could for the impending battles that faced me, I was up against an army, alone with no one left to help me. The days rolled by, I fought against the Myreisons at every turn, trying to fend them off before they could destroy another city. But it wasn’t enough, their forces were incredible in their sheer numbers. Dimitri had had enough of the tiring battles, and created a new invention of his, this one as sinister as all of his others. This time he caused massive cataclysmic natural disasters to happen at once, volcanoes erupted all at once, rupturing the very Earth itself, the polar icecaps melted from Myreisons that were sent there, hurricanes and devastating thunderstorms ravaged the land, destroying everything and anything. It was total hell on Earth, fire, death and destruction as far as the eye could see, and I could only...stand back and watch as the planet spiraled into destruction. Years and decades flew by, each day and night I’d fight more of the Myreisons throughout the newly shaped world. The land was flooded, only small patches of land are left. Some places are still continents for the human race, or what’s left of it. The Myreisons didn’t think that what was left of the land was good enough for them, so they created a massive floating city in the air where they control most aspects of the human race. For a millennia I fought against them, now I stay here trying to protect this little city called Lutenia, waiting for the day you two would return to help me restore this world to it’s previous slender. And now, it’s finally happened...All my waiting has paid off and now, we can overthrow Dimitri.”

Airaxen looked very grim after Sonaris had finished telling of the events that happened while he and Tikai were in the time-space continuum. It was unimaginable, to have traveled an entire millennium in just a matter of minutes. And now everything that they had fought for was ruins. Dimitri was in power...He finally had won.

“You think we can still beat Dimitri, and the entire Myreison race?” Airaxen asked in a stern, yet quiet voice. Sonaris looked at him uneasily.

“I don’t know...But the second I’m battle ready I’m out of here to help out again!” Sonaris tried to sit straight up, but another jolt of pain shot through his body, and set him flat on his back. “Ow...”

“Oh no you won’t!” Maria shouted, Sonaris looked over at her quizzically. “You can’t even stand anymore, and after that story you shouldn’t have been fighting anyone for the last few years! So you’re staying in bed until I deem you healthy! GOT IT?!” He blinked stunned at her outburst, then turned his head over to Airaxen who shrugged in return.

“Whenever Tikai got like this I just nodded and said yes, I didn’t feel like trying to argue with her,” Tikai reached over and swiped at Airaxen’s head, but he had been prepared this time and ducked before she hit him.

“Hah!” Airaxen’s gloating was short lived, Tikai swung her hand back around hit Airaxen in the face.

“Keep taking shots at me and I’ll keep hitting you Airaxen,” Airaxen muttered something under his breath, Maria looked at the two and laughed. Sonaris chuckled quietly, then winced slightly.

“Alright you win Maria, I’ll stay in bed until I’ve regenerated. I’m rather grateful I suppose resting is something that I could use,” Sonaris sighed quietly and closed his eyes, a look of tranquility on his face.

“I suppose we should be getting out of here, eh?” Maria nodded at Airaxen and went to get a curtain to put up in place of the door (Tikai apologized profoundly about the door). Tikai headed into the room next to Sonaris’s, they noticed that Airaxen was gone, she looked down the hallway. He was walking down the hallway to the balcony, staring up at the night sky.

<1000 years...I can’t believe that this is the world now...One that’s ruled by the Myreisons again...> Tikai walked up behind him and put a hand on his shoulder.

“Cheer up Air, we can fix things...Even if it takes another thousand years we’ll make things right again, ok?” She said softly.

“I don’t know...I don’t think I can fight an entire race, I’m not some god, I can’t change the world back!”

“You’re not alone Airaxen, Sonaris and I are still here and we’ll make sure to always be by your side, got that?”

“Heh...I don’t know if that’s enough...But...Maybe it is, who knows...I don’t...” Airaxen looked up at the full moon. It was an eerie sight to him, the moon looked like it was blue but then he remembered the phenomenon that would make the moon blue. He chuckled to himself quietly, taking in a deep breath of the night air. Tikai leaned against the balcony next to Airaxen, looking over at him every couple of seconds.

“Airaxen...” She said in nearly a whisper.

“Hm?”

“We’ve known each other for about...I don’t know 2 months right?”

“No clue, I guess that sounds right.”

“During those two months, have you...Have you ever regretted letting me stay with you in all these battles?” Airaxen glanced at her from the side, then looked up at the sky again.

“At first I thought you’d be the very worst thing that could ever happen to me. But, but, after I got used to you, I don’t know, I didn’t want you to go anymore, I feel like I need you around now...I don’t know why...But...Look I’m bad at this so...Yeah. I never regretted having you around through all this, at least not now, I’m used to you being around here,” Tikai smiled then turned around and headed back towards her room.

“You going to sleep Air?”

“...Perhaps...I think I’ll stay up, no spare rooms.”

“Hey you can sleep with me if you’d like, I mean! Err...You know not in the perverted sense or anything!” Airaxen looked around at her and blinked, she was blushing and hoped that he didn’t notice.

“Perhaps another time, I don’t feel like sleeping tonight, too much on my mind.”

“Ok, well see you in the morning,” Airaxen grunted a response back at her, she walked into the room and closed the door. Airaxen sighed after a few minutes, then jumped off the balcony and walked around the streets of Lutenia.

“Well...It’s time that things changed around here, Earth is going to experience a battle that will shake it too the very core.”

* * *

The early morning sunlight shined through Sonaris’s bedroom window, and onto his face. He mumbled at the bright light hitting him in the eye and rolled over. Sonaris muttered a few words under his breath, then opened his eyes slowly.

“What time is it...?” He muttered quietly to himself. Maria walked in through the curtains as if on cue.

“Ah, good you’re up.”

“No I’m not,” Sonaris grumbled as he threw the blanket over his head. Maria giggled, walking over and pulling the blanket off him. Sonaris blinked then realized he didn’t have any other clothes other then his armor, which was in pieces...He leapt up and grabbed the sheets from Maria and wrapped them around himself.

“M-Maria! What do you think your doing?!” He roared. She laughed at his outburst.

“For a robot, you’re still fairly human there Sonaris, I didn’t think you’d be anatomically correct...”

“BE QUIET!” Sonaris roared again, much louder this time.

“Well, none the less, you’ve healed up quite nicely, most of those large gashes on your body have closed up same with the cracks.”

“Yes well if you wanted to check if I had healed, DO IT WHEN I’M DECENT! Good lord woman.”

“Well you’re much better if you can stand and leap up again.”

“It’s a good start, a millennia of battle scars are starting to fade away, that’s good,” Tikai walked into sight of the two, she yawned sleepily and wiped her eyes.

“What’s all this noise? It’s been 4 hours since you guys went to sleep and now you’re all yelling and screaming!” Tikai said annoyingly, grumbling things under her breath.

“Sorry Tikai,” Maria bowed slightly at her. “I hope you were still able to sleep well enough.”

“Yeah it wasn’t that bad. Oh yeah, where’s Airaxen?” Sonaris’s left eye began to twitch as he stood on the bed holding a blanket around himself.

“If you two didn’t mind, I’d rather that you two left until I got myself some clothes!” He shouted. Tikai looked over Sonaris and blinked, then giggled.

“Oooooh, Sonaris has got something to hide!” Tikai laughed as he ran out of the room from Sonaris as he lunged at her.

“I hate that girl...” Sonaris mumbled as he did a face plant into the floor.

Tikai put on her armor, feeling that she might need it later on that day then headed out of the Inn. The sun was bright, not a single cloud in the sky. The morning air was cool against her face. She glanced around, some people were wandering the streets probably going to their work place. Tikai took in a deep breath and exhaled it slowly.

“I think I’m going to go for an early morning flight...” The box weapons on her shoulders glowed briefly, then the engines on them flared to life. She flew up and looked over the city. The northwestern sector of the city was still smoldering from Airaxen fighting with that girl from the other day. She flew past the city limits and into a large forested area, with plains and large rock platforms scattered around the area. She surveyed the area, then noticed a figure standing on the ground in front of a stone dome with a strange door in front of it. Tikai instantly recognized the figure to be Airaxen, mostly from his white hair and his blue shirt.

“Hey Air!” Airaxen perked up and looked around at the sky, then noticed a dark blue speck in the air and waved up at her.

“Took you long enough to find me, I was wondering when you’d get here,” he shouted up at her. Tikai dropped down onto the ground next to Airaxen and looked over at the door he was facing. The door was large and metallic in appearance. On the door was a large red eye, with two smaller ones under it to form a triangle.

“What is this Airaxen?” Asked Tikai. Airaxen folded his arms and looked closely at the door, then turned to look at Tikai.

“Last night I explored the town asking about these times. Across the globe there is an underground network running through the bowels of the planet. These tunnels were once used in the time of the war between the Myreisons and Magisters, and you can still find pieces of technology from these times. It is said that on this island there are entrances to a part of the network that contains great and deadly weapons. But no one has been able to open the door to any of them, and to dig into the network would take an eternity. I want to get into this network and get that weapon, maybe I can take care of Dimitri with it,” Airaxen unfurled his arms and walked up to the door and slammed his fist into it, a loud clang rang out throughout the area.

“Well if the Myreisons used these to get up here, then we’d need to find a Myreison to open it, wouldn’t we? They probably made it so only Myreisons can open it.”

“Yes well after my body was rebuilt, I’m now mostly Myreison, and I still can’t open it.”

“Maybe we have to do something else?” Tikai suggested. Airaxen shrugged he couldn’t figure out how to open the door. Out of frustration of spending most of the day trying to figure it out, he stepped back and formed an orb in his hand.

“That’s it! This door is going down! Dark-” before he could finish the two gems on the bottom of the door glowed, one white and one black. Airaxen stopped preparing the attack, two orbs shot out of his hand, then faded away to revel the crystals of light and dark. A beam shot out of each and into the corresponding gem, then turned back into orbs and flew back into Airaxen’s hand. The red gem in the center spun around slowly with a groaning of mechanical parts. The door split apart and into the ground, revealing the entrance into the dome, into darkness. Airaxen formed his armor and his wrist blade, then took a step forward into the dome. He looked over his shoulder at Tikai.

“Coming?” He asked. She nodded then joined him in the darkness. Airaxen lifted his hand up, forming a new orb to illuminate the interior of the dome. The walls were marked up in strange rune markings.

“So what happens now?” Tikai asked. Suddenly the floor they were standing on began to lower down into the ground with a strained creaking.

“We go down...A very long way,” Airaxen responded.

* * *

Yasosume, encased in the main section of her tunneling mecha approached the dome that Airaxen and Tikai were at 15 minutes ago.

“Alright then, if this stupid thing won’t open up, then I’ll drill my way into the network! Huh? What the?” The front of the crystal slid open, Yasosume jumped out of the mecha and ran up to the dome.

“No way! The door is open! Who could’ve been able to open it?” She leaned into the dome, forming a fireball in her hand to illuminate the interior of the dome. It was like a bottomless pit, it went down for what seemed like forever. She straightened up and climbed back into her mecha and turned it to face the dome, raised both of it’s arms and brought them crashing down onto the dome. The dome withstood the massive force thrown upon it.

“Stupid thing, too strong for me to smash it apart! Oh well, lets see. I could stick with the original plan and drill down there, or I could try going down there myself, but I don’t know how far that thing goes...Gah, who could’ve opened this thing?” Then a thought struck her, she narrowed her eyes until they were thin slits. “Airaxen...He couldn’t have opened it, could he? Well if he did then I shouldn’t try fighting him in this, so I might as well just go down myself...” She climbed out of the mecha once more and looked down into the dome, straight down into the darkness.

“Well Airaxen, if you’re down there I’m coming for you!” She leapt down into the darkness, ready for what was down there.

After an agonizing 15 minute ride on the platform it finally stopped in a large blue room with the same strange markings covering the walls. The room was lit by some source of light that couldn’t be seen, it seemed like the light came from the walls themselves. Airaxen glanced around the room slowly, then formed his wrist blade before stepping off the platform.

“Something tells me that there’s something nasty in here...” He muttered quietly, his voice echoing off the walls.

“Well the place is all creepy and marked up with runes, so you’d expect something big and evil here,” Tikai said to try and lighten the mood. Airaxen chuckled slightly, then approached the wall opposite of him, eyeing it suspiciously. He placed his hand on the wall, the runes beginning to glow from his touch. The wall groaned, it’s parts not being used for eons. The wall slid apart, a doorway behind it.

“How did you know that was there?” Tikai asked him quizzically.

“I don’t really know, I just knew it was...Well you can tell if there are anymore doors, the wall in front of them has a strange eye marking on it,” Tikai nodded at him then walked over to Airaxen. The door in front of them was unmarked and tan, very simple in design. Airaxen walked closer to it, the door let out a hum, then thousands of little squares appeared on the door and one by one they blinked out of existence, allowing a view into the next room. Unlike the first room this one was a corridor that snaked along the underground realm. They walked through the door, looking around. The walls were 10 meters apart, the roof went up for 50 feet where there was another floor beginning a few meters above them, a large hole cut out of the floor to allow them in.

“It’s...Big...” Stated Tikai.

“Thank you Ms Obvious,” Tikai elbowed Airaxen in the stomach.

“Oh shut up.”

“Alright, alright,” he mumbled back at her. “Alright, if we make it through here then we’ll almost be at the end of the ruins,” Tikai nodded and followed Airaxen as he led her through the maze. A turn here, a turn there, up a level there.

<How in the world do I know where I’m going?! It feels as if...Something is guiding me...> Airaxen didn’t even have to think on where his feet were taking him, he was off in his thoughts while his legs moved on their own, as if someone was controlling them. The farther and farther they went in the more complicated the rune markings would become. Strange glowing blue fires began to light up as they passed the walls, until they stopped at a large double door with a red eye in it’s center.

“What’s up with all these eyes anyway? It’s starting to get old,” Airaxen said quietly. Tikai walked up to it and tapped it, the door let out a low rumbling which made her draw back from it quickly. Airaxen raised his blade arm up in a defensive position. The rune markings on the door began to glow a teal blue, then slowly the door slid up into the roof. Airaxen walked through the doorway, into a large grey circular room with the wreckage of some strange grey robot. There were what appeared to be two hands, but they were just large claws with three pincers to them, they closely resembled claws of some bear. Beside them were a variation of the claws, they were just two of the claws put together with the pincers forming a cone. The torso was a grey shell with thicker metal at the top for supporting the head which was a black cylinder that was rounded at the top with a large metal eye sticking out of the front with three metal plates sticking out of each side of the head.

“What is that thing?” Airaxen asked.

“No idea, but at least it’s out of commission for once, can’t try to kill us.”

“For once,” Airaxen added. The two walked over the wreckage towards the other side of the room, in search of a door.

Beware!

“What was that?!” Airaxen spun around quickly to look at the wreckage. He looked from side to side startled.

“What was what?” Tikai looked at him strangely.

“Didn’t you hear that voice that said beware?”

“No...”

“Maybe I’m just losing it, nevermind,” Airaxen turned back around, but just as he did the ground began to rumble. The two turned around, the pieces of the robot floated up into the air suddenly. A massive dark purple orb suddenly formed in the empty shell of the torso, then a red orb and a blue orb formed one on each shoulder, each with two arced spikes floating near them. The claws floated underneath the two orbs, the claws hovering in place. The two legs spun up and into place under the purple orb, two smaller white orbs forming in the middle. The ancient mecha swung it’s head back and let out a massive roar.

“Air, you keep going, I can take care of this thing!” Tikai shouted.

“I can’t, you know that,” Airaxen assumed a fighting stance, his blade arm in front of him.

“Keep going! There’s something calling you here so you have to keep going, I can hold it off for 10 minutes!” Airaxen frowned then nodded.

“Fine, just don’t get yourself killed,” she nodded back at him, Airaxen turned around and put his hand to the wall, the wall moving away to reveal the door it hid. The door blinked out of existence then he ran through it into a thin corridor, the door reappearing behind him. As he approached the end of the corridor he saw a strange golden glowing object in the distance. When he was a 10 meters away from the object a loud ringing in his ears stopped him.

The weapon before you is the Marimatsu, it’s power is great, but it must choose it’s master. The ancient Magisters created this weapon for whoever was to be their savior, the one to stop the Myreisons.

“GAH!” Airaxen shouted as he fell to his knees, covering his ears to try and block out the ringing in his ears. “Who are you?!”

Go back! You can not approach the sword unless you are pure of soul.

“I don’t care! I came here to find that great power before Dimitri can get it, but if you won’t let me have it then I’m outta here! I need to help my friend more then getting this hunk of scrap metal!” Airaxen roared.

...The Marimatsu has chosen it’s master...

The ringing stopped suddenly, Airaxen fell forward but caught himself with his hands.

“Gah, that ringing finally stopped,” he got back up to his feet then looked at the sword that was right in front of him, floating in the air.

“Weird...But if that voice doesn’t mind...Then I’ll just take this thing, the Marimatsu,” he snatched the weapon out of the air, he found that it was extremely light as if it were just a feather. The sword was massive compared to him, the weapon if stood up would be up to eye level with Airaxen. The hilt for the sword had 6 small golden wings with three black feathers each. On the handle of the weapon were two small gold wings. The hilt nearly circled around a dark blue gem which was attached to the blade. The blade was massive in size, about twice as thick as his arm, and covered in strange rune markings like the walls. On the edges of the blade was a 3 inch deep gold trim. Airaxen swung it from side to side a few times getting used to the weapon, despite it’s massive size it was so light it didn’t feel like he was holding anything larger then a coin.

“Amazing...This sword is so light, but it looks like it could slice apart the biggest mecha Sonaris could throw at me...”

The sword may be yours, but thousands have tried to obtain the untold powers of Marimatsu...And they all died and have become possessed by the ruins, their souls forever trapped in these walls, guarding the Marimatsu, until the sword’s true master appears. Do not think that you’ll be able to take the sword so easily...

“What do you mean?!” Airaxen demanded. There was no response, the walls around him appeared to begin to melt, then grotesque faces appeared on them, all of them seemingly calling to him, trying to make him another face on the walls...Airaxen raised the sword and was about to strike at the faces, but red and black beams shot out of the blue gem and wrapped around his hand, then around the sword. Suddenly his arm came crashing down to the ground, the sword digging into the ground. Airaxen tried to lift up the weapon but couldn’t do so, it seemed to suddenly weigh as much as a skyscraper. As he tried to move the sword the faces along the walls began to move out of them decaying bodies attached to the heads; zombies. They groaned and moaned like in the movies, limping their way towards Airaxen, carrying all sorts of weapons.

“Gah! I can’t move this thing, I’m stuck here! Fine, if I’m going down I’ll go down with a fight! DARK-LIGHT!” With his free arm he formed a white orb, then smashed it into the ground a wave of white energy ripping through the zombies in it’s path. there were so many of the undead forces, he could barely hold them off, the ones in the distance he destroyed with his Dark-light attacks, the ones that were too close he had to slice apart with his wrist blade.

<I can’t stay here and fight these zombies! I have to help Tikai! She might need me! GAH! DIE!> Airaxen glowed bright red for an instant, then lifted the blackened Marimatsu off the ground and slashed through the zombies around him. The beams of black and red suddenly shot off the weapon and into the air, no longer did the sword weigh him down, it was as light as a feather again. More and more of the undead poured from the walls, oozing a strange green slime, with their flesh rotting off the bones.

“Gah, have to cut through these things!” Airaxen slashed through the zombies around him, but they simply were replaced by more and more zombies. “This’ll take awhile...” He muttered under his breath.

Tikai flared her jets, and shot over the claw of the mecha as it carved the ground where she was a second ago. She pointed all of her weapons at the head of the behemoth and opened fire, the lasers all were a direct hit and blasted the mecha back. Before it could react a large fireball shot at it’s main orb from behind and exploded in a blaze of flames. Tikai looked behind the mecha, standing in the doorway was the girl from the previous day who had fought with Airaxen and Sonaris. Tikai ignored her, then shot more lasers down onto the mecha, the armor around it’s head beginning to collapse under the attacks. The girl took out three throwing knives from her shoulder pads and threw them at the right leg of the mecha, the knives dug into it and blasted the leg apart. The mecha turned around to look at the girl, but as it did so it was pummeled in the back by green lasers, the fireball from before weakening it’s armor the lasers broke through the armor and filled the large purple orb with lasers. The girl put her arms together then released a jet of fire at the mecha, it’s armor melting away. When the flames died down the orbs in the mecha began to fade away, the pieces of armor cracking apart, then began to explode, then explode in a blast of shrapnel. Tikai dropped to the ground, but the girl dashed up to her and pinned her up against the wall.

“Alright you, stay out of my way, I want that power in these ruins and if you get in my way I’ll blast you into oblivion, got it?!” She shouted.

“Let go of me you fox-girl!” Tikai shouted, the shoulder guns pointed at her face and were about to fire on her, but she moved out of the way before Tikai could let out a shot. “You’re that same girl that Sonaris and Airaxen fought with! Who are you?” Tikai demanded. The girl flipped some of her hair out of her eyes, then looked at Tikai sternly.

“My name is Yasosume, now get out of my way or I’ll make you get out of my way.”

“I don’t have time for this! I don’t care about any power in this place, something is holding up my friend and I don’t know what it is!” Tikai turned around and put a hand to the wall, it began to move apart, Yasosume came up from behind and knocked her to the side.

“That power is mine!”

“Out of the way fox-girl! Airaxen needs my help if something is actually holding him up!” Yasosume’s ears perked up at the mention of Airaxen’s name.

“So he is here...And he’s through here...Alright then...” She said quietly. Tikai jumped back up to her feet and fired two beams at Yasosume, she leapt back and dodged the attack easily.

“You’re no match for me, you’re a mere mortal...” Yasosume said smugly.

“You’re a freak of nature! And as much as I want to fight you, I’m more concerned with what’s behind door number one,” Tikai turned to the door and ran up to it, it blinked out of existence and just as she was about to head in, she leapt back in horror at the sight that greeted her; an army of undead zombies in all of their utter grotesqueness.

“WHAT IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY IS THAT?!” She screamed. Yasosume scoffed and looked at the zombies.

“Cool,” she said coolly, Tikai looked at Yasosume in disbelief.

“How sick and twisted are you?!” Yasosume chuckled.

“You tell me,” Tikai stared at her blankly, the muttered something under her breath.

“I heard that, and I’m not psychotic.”

“...” Tikai got back
