Tikai was blasting away the robots coming
at her, still enraged at Omega for killing Airaxen. Robot after
robot were blasted apart into tiny pieces, but all of her efforts
were useless in stopping the army.
“DIE! JUST DIE!” She screamed at the
machines as they got ever closer. Sonaris tried to hold them off as
well, but it was still no good.
“Tikai! We can’t keep fighting them like
this! We have to retreat!” Sonaris shouted over the weapon-fire,
Tikai ignored him and continued to fire beams into the mass. With no
other choice Sonaris raised an arm and struck Tikai in the back of
the neck knocking her unconscious.
“Forgive me Tikai, but I have no other
choice...” He picked her up and flew into the air avoiding the
energy orbs being shot at them. Omega grunted in disappointment at
this failure. He turned around then something caught his eye, a
bunch of small gems were scattered around the crater where Airaxen
once stood.
“Hm...What do we have here...?” He snapped
his fingers, 7 robots gathered the gems for him and handed them to
Omega. He looked down at them in his large long claw like hand. The
crystals each glowed a small aura, radiating a strange energy into
his hand.
“Ahhh...The power source of the former of
Airaxen. Yes, these will be very useful...” Omega looked around him
at the army of robots staring back waiting for Omega’s command.
“Well? Go out and destroy!” He barked at
them. They all nodded and marched off in different directions firing
blasts of energy at what was left of the city.
* * *
Sonaris flew away from the city carrying an
unconscious Tikai on his back, escaping the army that rampaged
through the area. Tikai slowly opened her eyes, conscious again
after being knocked out.
“Huh? What the? Hey let go of me!” Tikai
began hitting Sonaris over the head.
“OW! Stop, ow! Doing that, ow!” Sonaris
said in a very stressed voice. He landed on the ground hidden by
some trees, then dropped Tikai roughly onto the ground.
“Hmph! Thanks a lot there Sonaris, tch,”
Tikai stood up and dusted herself off, then turned to look at the
city. “We have to stop this, if we don’t Omega will keep going until
there’s nothing to stop him from this massacre.” Sonaris walked up
behind her and put a hand onto her shoulder.
“Don’t worry, we’ll find a way,” he said
quietly.
“What do we do now?” Asked Tikai
“We have to come up with a plan, something
to do to stop this madness. So for the time being I recommend that
we return to my lab. I might have something that could help there,”
Tikai sighed sadly, then turned around to face Sonaris.
“...Alright...Lets hurry then,” Sonaris
nodded then flew up and towards the mountain, Tikai following him a
few seconds later.
* * *
500 miles to the northwest, located in the
cold frozen arctic tundra, a small grey bunker stood out of the
snow, a seemingly insignificant building, one that held the controls
to weapons of mass destruction; information Omega knows.
Omega glided across the tundra silently,
and swiftly like a deadly hawk.
“Hmph, soon I should come across the
central control room of what the data tracks said was the global
defense matrix...Yes, the weapons the humans built to protect
themselves will soon be the cause of their demise...” Omega gave his
wings a mighty flap and charged forward.
Inside of the bunker housed 7 large
super-computers, each of them operating 5 parts to the 35 piece
global defense matrix. The facility as well ran 700 feet into the
ground, every 100 feet were over 200 robotic guards guarding the
final level where the controls could be accessed. On the final level
there were no people, but instead tens of hundreds of robots
operating the complex controls for the global defense matrix, a
weapons matrix more complex then anything ever created. Since it’s
creation 5 years ago the weapons were never needed, but now the
robots were now activating the weapons array, preparing to fire it
onto the city of Calgary which was under siege from an army of some
sort. Suddenly the alarms began to scream, red lights flashing on
all levels; someone had breached the upper level.
Omega blasted through the wall to the
bunker, an mass of robots waiting to greet him. An instant later a
barrage of laser beams fired at Omega. He withdrew both of his beam
sabers and spun them around rapidly, blocking out the lasers coming
at him. Omega glided forward still spinning one of his sabers, using
the other one to slash apart robot after robot. But despite Omega’s
great strength, the sheer number of robots were more then he could
handle and he soon forced into a corner defending himself.
“Bah! These pests are starting to annoy me,
I have no time to waste on destroying them!” Omega pressed a button
on his saber’s handle. Way off in Calgary one of the many robots’
eyes glowed bright red for a moment, then turned away from the
others, leapt up into the air then transformed into a rocket, and
flew to the northwest near the speed of sound, to rejoin with their
master Omega.
Omega was still under attack for 10 minutes
until he heard the flare of a rocket engine. The rocket transformed
back into it’s robot form and landed near the mass of guard robots,
which all turned and blasted the new robot into oblivion. But like
always the parts simply reformed to create two of them, and they
were destroyed, and they rebuilt, the cycle continued until Omega’s
accomplices outnumbered the guard robots and soon they were all
destroyed and nothing but scrap.
“About time you arrived, alright then
proceed down the levels destroy everything in your way. When you’re
done I want about a hundred or so of you to meet me in the 7th
level. Alright get to it!” Omega’s arm changed into his cannon and
he blasted a large hole into the ground letting his robots jump
through and battle with the other guard robots. Omega hovered down
into the next level firing energy blasts in all directions,
destroying the guard robots as well as multiplying his own forces.
After the next level was clear of all guard robots Omega blasted his
way into the next one while his army grew larger and larger. He took
a few of his men that couldn’t find a battle on that level down to
the next, and continued on to the last level with no trouble. The
robots in the control room spun around to see Omega enter the room,
but were destroyed before they could react. The rows of computer
consoles now had nothing but piles of metal occupying them, Omega
snapped his fingers his robots filing in and finding a empty console
to sit at. Omega walked to the front of the room where a large
monitor was, on it was the image of the planet Earth with 35 small
dots around it.
“Hmmm...I see...Even I didn’t think the
humans could have created such an advanced weapon. Alright, I want
you to charge up the weapons and reposition them to these
coordinates. Now I’m going to continue with some errands, don’t stop
for any reason!” They all nodded and Omega flew up and out of the
complex.
* * *
Sonaris sat at a computer console sifting
through the inventory of what was still active after Airaxen had
rampaged through his lab.
“Feh, none of my robots are still active,
and my weapons are all deactivated,” Sonaris lowered his head.
“Nothing left to fight with...” He closed
his eyes, now without any hope of beating Omega.
“So is that it?” He perked up at the sound
of Tikai’s voice. “So that’s it? Not even going to try?” She asked
him angrily.
“We have nothing left to fight with, and
we’re up against an army which we can’t stop, tell me what we have
left to fight with Tikai, tell me!”
“You still have your swords and your arm
cannon, and I still have my armor, and I’m not going to give up
anytime soon. I’ll keep fighting until I’m a corpse, what about you?
Or are you just a scared little boy?”
“No, no. I see your point. Your
determination is uplifting, I agree I won’t give up until I’m scrap
metal,” Sonaris perked up and began searching for something.
“Hey what are you looking for Sonaris?”
Asked Tikai.
“I remember that about 5 years ago a large
group of military scientists and weapons experts created 35
satellites,” Sonaris explained.
“What were on these satellites?”
“Well,” on the monitor a three-dimensional
blueprint of a satellite appeared. The satellite was shaped like a
large cannon with 6 small cylinders circling around it. “Aboard each
satellite there are 6 small ion cannons around the main structure,
and one large ion cannon in the center. The smaller cannons can
destroy a small city block while the main cannon can destroy a large
city,” Tikai let out a low whistle.
“Never knew we had so many big guns on
standby.”
“Most people don’t. If I can hack into
their systems I can take control of the satellites and target them
at the areas where most of the robots are,” Tikai leaned on the back
of Sonaris’s chair watching him as he began to hack into their
satellite system. Then the computer beeped a few times.
“Eh? What was that?” Tikai asked.
“This isn’t right...There’s someone else in
the same part of the system I’m in, there’s someone else trying to
gain control of the movement systems for the satellites, and they’re
locking me out of the system!” Tikai shoved Sonaris out of the chair
and she jumped into it and began to hack the hacker.
“Tikai, what do you expect to do?” Sonaris
said from the floor.
“Alright, there. I’ve shut out whoever that
was, at least for the time being,” Sonaris looked up at her and
blinked dumbfounded.
“You what?”
“I’ve got into the satellite controls, but
I’m getting hacked again, can’t keep them off forever,” Sonaris
stood up and looked over at the monitor.
“Alright we have to work fast, try to
override their commands.”
“Well duh, I’m trying too but I can’t stay
in long enough to finish uploading my commands.”
“It must be Omega, we have to keep trying!”
“I can’t stay in much longer, I can’t
change the course of any of the satellites, but I can stop them for
a few hours.” The computer beeped a few times, then it shut down
with a blip.
“Well?”
“I was able to install a virus, it’s
probably shut down their systems for the time being, but they can
easily repair and continue their plans.”
“We have to take out those satellites
before they can be fired.”
“What can we do to stop them? There’s 35
satellites off in space!” Sonaris put a hand to his chin then
thought for a moment, until a thought came to him.
“ICBMs.”
“What?”
“Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. A very
powerful missile that can travel up into space and destroy a
satellite easily, but we’d need to find 35 of them and figure out
where the satellites would be.”
“Don’t worry, I know where they’ll all be.
All of them scattered around the space above the country, all ready
to fire at the nuclear power plants.”
* * *
“Ugh...Where am I?” Airaxen opened his eyes
slowly, then looked around his surroundings. He was floating around
in a dark purple and black void. There was nothing in sight other
then the dark purple and black background. He then looked down at
his body, and to his shock he was translucent. He could see through
himself just barely, but he could, like a ghost.
“ACK! WHAT HAPPENED TO ME?!”
“You’re dead,” Airaxen spun around to see
the familiar black outline of the demonic blue eyed creature.
“You-you got to be joking! I can’t be
dead!” Airaxen protested. The shadow creature moved closer to him.
“You are dead, Omega defeated you in
battle.”
“That...can’t be true...If that’s true why
am I still here then?”
“You’re destiny hasn’t be fulfilled, but
thankfully for you, you still have another chance,” Airaxen perked
up and floated right up to the shadow.
“I do?”
“Yes you do. Airaxen, you do not know what
depends on your survival.”
“What depends on my survival?” The shadow
shook it’s head.
“I cannot tell you.”
“Why-” before Airaxen could finish the
shadow turned around and began to float away.
“Hey! Wait up!” Airaxen floated after him.
“Well then, tell me who and what exactly
are you? I’ve seen you a number of times before.” The shadow looked
over at Airaxen then looked forward again.
“I have long forgotten my name, but I do
remember this: I was created by the crystals as their guardian,
meant to watch over them for all of time. But obviously being
nothing more then a shadow I can’t do enough to protect them.”
“I see, tell me. What do you know about the
Myreisons? They’re obviously still out there somewhere.” The shadow
stopped and turned to the side to look at Airaxen.
“That is exactly what I’m about to talk
about,” he waved it’s large arm, their surroundings changing
instantly to that of a city during the night. But the buildings were
not of modern design, they were all tall blocky cylinders with large
doors, a single red eye at the very top and strange line markings
running up the structure. The area was full of different sized
versions of these buildings lining the sides of the sidewalk that
Airaxen and the shadow stood on.
“Whoa, where are we?” Airaxen murmured.
“This is the capital city of the Myreison
empire, Shadowlight City!” The shadow raised both of his arms as
finished, at that instant the houses to the sides burst open, people
coming out of them. The people all wore some sort of shiny golden
armor with red highlights. As well they all looked radically
different from each other. Most resembled animals, with fur and
snouts and such. Others were large and machine like, but none of
them looked like any sort of human.
“Whoa...Hey, what’s with the people?”
Questioned Airaxen.
“Myreisons are created using some sort of
DNA, the type of DNA retrieved determines appearance and ability.
But some do not follow this standard and are purely machine.”
“Oh, ok I get it. So what are you going to
show me?”
“Come with me,” the shadow hovered off
towards a large building off to the north, Airaxen following in
silence.
<Man, this is way too much for me. Maybe
this is all some whacked out dream...Oh I hope so.>
“We’re here,” the shadow announced. Airaxen
drifted up to the building, then turned around to face the shadow.
“What’s here?”
“You’ll see, now pay attention.” The door
leading to the building slid open and a tall figure stepped out. The
person had a relatively thin body, complex looking footwear and
large gauntlets on both arms. His head was pointed upwards with 5
large spikes, each with a red stripe on the tops of each. It had a
large white space which was made up of two circles joined together
in the center. In the center of that were two red eyes.
“Huh...Weird looking person,” commented
Airaxen. The shadow followed the other person, Airaxen followed
wanting to see what would happen. Suddenly a loud alarm went off,
everyone in the general area halting and looking for the source of
the alarms.
“Night has fallen on our enemy's side! It
is time to attack!” A thunderous roar of approval ran throughout the
city, then all of them ran to the east, all except for one. The
person they were follow let out a dismal sigh and lowered his head.
“Why all of this fighting?” He asked
himself quietly. He raised his head then dashed off to join with the
masses that had left without him.
“What’s going on?” Airaxen asked. The
shadow flew after the black person, Airaxen following behind him.
“A great battle is about to begin,” before
Airaxen could ask anymore they had come to what could be described
as a massive field with a line in the center; the line drawn by a
setting sun. An army of Myreisons stood behind the line and waited.
A couple of minutes later the sun had set, the line no longer
visible, night had fallen and as it did an army charged into the
unknown territory. But as they did massive fireballs rained from the
sky striking masses of the army blasting dozens of them into pieces.
Then another army of robed men and women came charging towards the
other army, hurtling more fireballs as they went. Then the Myreisons
opened fire, a barrage of lasers and rockets flew from the mass. The
lasers sliced through the unarmored Magisters, the rockets blasted
them into tiny pieces of blood and skin. The battle went on, and it
looked like the Myreisons would win this battle. But then a
different colored robed Magister ran onto the battlefield holding
something in their hand. The person raised the clenched hand into
the air and opened their fist, a small golden yellow crystal
floating into the air, blue bolts of electricity flying from it.
Dark storm clouds quickly covered the night sky, blocking out any
moonlight. A mighty bolt of lightning shot out of the sky and
destroyed a mass of Myreisons. Then more bolts fell from the sky
destroying more of their forces. During this destruction the one
black person that Airaxen and the shadow had kept track of was in
the back, unwilling to fight. Suddenly a tall and bulky looking
person came up to him and shook him roughly.
“Come on Konesence! We need your abilities
in this!” They shouted.
“...”
“NOW!” Konesence sighed and looked
up at the person, then nodded obediently. Konesence flew up taking a
sword off his back with his left hand, in the right he held two
crystals, ones of fire and earth. He placed them into his sword then
spun it around as the blade transformed into flaming stone.
Konesence stopped spinning his weapon then pointed it straight up
into the storm clouds, a bright red beam firing up and out of the
blade. A few seconds later massive meteors rained from the heavens
onto the Magisters, killing hundreds in a few short minutes.
Konesence held his weapon high, the attack of meteors continuing
until there were just a few dozen Magisters left alive. The few
Magisters left turned around and began to ran away, but a final
meteor fell on top of them killing the last of them.
“Bah! We must fall back! The sun is about
to rise soon!” Shouted one of the generals, there was an loud uproar
of protest, but they all did as they were told and ran back to the
city just as the sun began to rise.
“Whoa...That was some battle...” Airaxen
said quietly while surveying the battlefield. There were pieces of
scrap metal lying everywhere, but there was much more blood and
miscellaneous body parts then anything else. An arm here, a hand
there, an unrecognized part there, nothing but death everywhere.
“And to think, that was just a small
demonstration of the crystal’s power. During the war in the battles
whichever side possessed more crystals then the other would turn out
to be the victor. Now, we should keep up with Konesence,” Konesence
stood there on the battlefield as the sun came up.
“Come on Konesence, we have to go,” a
person similar in appearance to Konesence stood behind him, but the
voice was that of a girl’s. She was slightly shorter and instead of
5 spikes there was just one long spike arching down and two
triangular ears sticking out of her head, like a cat’s. Her eyes
weren’t quite as large as Konesence’s as well instead of red eyes
hers were yellow. As well she wore a full suit of armor, but now it
was very damaged. Konesence didn’t respond to the request.
“Come on, the sun is coming out!”
“I can’t take this anymore...I’m sick of
killing so many, we never get any closer to winning this stupid war!
I just want it to be over with.” The sun had risen fully, Konesence
was now bathed in sunlight, but his body wasn’t decoying away.
“Hmph, they built me to well. I can
actually survive in the light,” he chuckled to himself then turned
around to face the girl.
“Fine, fine. I’m coming,” he said quietly.
Konesence walked over to her and they began to head back to the
city.
“Bah, I don’t know why I’m so sentimental,
I wish I wasn’t. This is our people’s way, to fight with the
Magisters for the rest of time.”
“Maybe it’s for the best that you’re
sentimental.”
“And how’s that? I was given both of the
crystals we’ve retrieved and I have to use them in battle, if I feel
so much sentimentality towards the enemy then I’m useless!”
“Don’t worry, it’ll pass sooner or later.”
“Eh, I wish this stupid war was over.”
“Yeah I know Konesence. But what can you do
to stop something that’s been going on for eons?”
“I’ll think of something, just wait and see
Kauri,” the two walked back to the city in silence. Airaxen looked
over at the shadow creature.
“Come on Airaxen, we need to follow those
two,” they both flew after Konesence and Kauri as they headed to the
large building which Konesence had first came out of. The door slid
open letting the two enter into the large structure. The building
had 5 floors, 3 above ground and 2 below ground. The floors above
ground were just the basics of living, a kitchen, a sleeping
quarters and an area used for recreation. The two floors below
ground let to an underground tunnel system which was to be used in
emergencies. Konesence walked up a set of stairs up to the top floor
of the building which was the recreational floor where many large
couches were placed, as well as a very large screen opposite of the
stairs. Konesence flopped down onto a couch and laid down. Kauri
walked into the room and took a seat on the couch next to Konesence.
“Is the doctor going to be here today?”
Asked Konesence.
“No, he’s away working.”
“Good, I’m sick of him checking up on us.
We’re just some stupid experiments to that guy!” Konesence cursed
under his breath. “But, I must admire his ingenuity, using mostly
Magister genetic material in our compositions to form our
physiology, brilliant.”
“Well, you’re still given a lot of respect
you know.”
“I don’t care about that, I just want this
war to end!” Kauri stood up and walked over to the stairs then
turned around.
“Want anything to eat?” Konesence shook his
head and Kauri left. Konesence stood up and went to the large screen
and waved a hand in front of the screen causing it to slide open and
provide him with a magnificent view of Shadowlight City. The city
had no lights other then soft glowing blue fires. The small fires
gave the city a ghostly glow that Konesence found relaxing. He
glanced over the city’s buildings, then the cluttered streets, then
he saw the cloak generator in the very center of the city and began
to think.
Kauri walked back up the stairs carrying a
tray of food for Konesence in an attempt to put him in a better
mood. But when she did reenter the room Konesence was gone. She
looked around the room then she noticed the opened window screen and
looked out it at the city. Then she noticed the cloak generator and
realized what Konesence was up too.
* * *
Konesence came up to the maintenance
entrance of Shadowlight City’s most precious creation: the cloak
generator that blocked out the deadly rays of the sun. He took his
sword out of it’s stealth and walked into the generator. The inside
of the generator was like a massive bottomless pit. When he entered
the structure he stood on a small railway running across the length
of the structure as well as another one meeting it in the center of
the railway to form a cross. Konesence looked over the edge of the
railway down the generator, he could see large black rings floating
up to the top of the ceiling of the generator where they condensed
into a black orb where more rings would join it and then once the
orb was large enough it would fire upwards to coat the sky with
black. Konesence walked towards the center of the railways where the
metal square he stood on dislodged itself and began to lower down
into the depths of the generator. As he went lower and lower he
noticed jolts of blue lightning jumping from across the walls,
Konesence was lucky not to be struck and knocked off the small
square, who knew how far the generator went down into the Earth.
“It feels like I’m entering the belly of
some great beast...” Konesence said to himself. Airaxen and the
shadow creature followed his decent.
“Hey, why are you showing me all of this?”
Airaxen asked his host. The shadow glanced at him from the side with
his blue eyes then looked back at Konesence.
“I want you to take a close look at the
sword Konesence holds,” Airaxen knew better then to ask why and did
so. The weapon was still fairly new, the blade still possessed a
bright shimmer to it. Then he looked at the hilt and drew back out
of surprise. The hilt of the sword was a large red gem with 3 blades
sticking out of one side and 1 large blade on the other; the hilt
was the exact same of the hilt of the sword which Airaxen had while
in space.
“But, that looks just like my sword,” the
shadow nodded at Airaxen.
“It is your sword.”
“But how’s that?”
“Because that is you in a past life,”
Airaxen looked between Konesence and the shadow wide-eyed.
“No way!” He shouted.
“Yes way.”
“But how and why?”
“You see, your spirit is part of a
prophecy, one that will take millions of years to come true,”
Airaxen couldn’t ask anymore of the shadow because Konesence had
finally reached the bottom floor. He took a step off the metal
square and began heading off to the source of where the black rings
originated. He took a few steps towards a hatch on the ground but
then he heard something falling in the distance. Konesence assumed a
fighter’s stance and looked up trying to see what was making the
noise. Then a silhouette came into view, upon closer examination it
was Kauri. She landed a few meters away from Konesence.
“Kauri, what are you doing here?!”
Konesence shouted in rage.
“I have to stop you from doing this, you’re
about to commit genocide!”
“I don’t care! This war has to stop now!”
“Not like this, what about all the
innocents who’ll be killed?!” Konesence swung his sword to the side
briskly.
“There’s no such thing for our kind!
Everyone of us are murderers!” Kauri looked to the side unable to
answer Konesence, he turned around to face the hatch again.
“If you still want to stop me then you’ll
have to strike me down where I stand,” Konesence walked towards the
hatch again, but the Kauri came up from behind him and put a hand on
his shoulder.
“Hold up, I’m coming with you, I’ve been to
the core of the generator before, you haven’t,” Konesence nodded and
they both went to the hatch and jumped down it. The hatch led to
what seemed like a massive slide leading straight down at least
another 500 miles into the Earth.
“How far do we go down until we hit the
core of the generator Kauri?” Asked Konesence.
“This is the last one don’t worry, but be
prepared this is where we encounter the defense systems.” They both
landed in a large stone chamber with blue metal walls. Suddenly the
room lit up in bright white lights illuminating the room, which also
showed the room was loaded with large pillars running from the
ground running up to a ceiling, but it couldn’t be seen because of
how far they went down.
“Ack, why is it so bright here?” Konesence
said while squinting.
“Simple, if any Myreison tries to destroy
the generator they’ll instantly rot away in this light. Lucky for us
we were built for this sort of thing.” The two continued on past the
pillars, eventually they came across a large door which slid into
the ground as they approached.
“This seems way too easy...” Konesence
commented. They walked through the doorway and then entered another
large stone chamber. A quiet hum from the ceiling caused them all to
look up just as a thousand red eyes glowed to life. From the ceiling
thousands of large grey golems fell to the ground, golems that
looked exactly like the Green Golem that Sonaris had captured Tikai
with. Konesence quickly put the crystals of fire and earth into the
hilt of his sword while Kauri’s gauntlet’s formed two long beam
sabers.
“Konesence...I can hold them off, you go to
the next room, in there is the core of the generator,” Konesence
looked at the side at her then shook his head.
“No way, you might be a highly ranked
fighter, but you can’t fight off these things forever!”
“Don’t worry about me, if you’re going to
destroy the generator we won’t live either way, once the core is
destroyed a self destruction sequence is triggered, it doesn’t
matter if I die now or 5 minutes from now.” Konesence was speechless
for a minute then nodded grimly.
“Hm, I see. Well that’s just beautiful,
fine then I’ll go on ahead.” Konesence spun his sword around then
pointed his weapon straight forward releasing a barrage of small
meteors that ripped apart the golems in front of Konesence. He flew
up a few feet and charged past the golems while they converged on
Kauri as she was slashing apart golem after golem. Konesence didn’t
look back, he probably would’ve changed his mind if he did. He
escaped the golems and arrived at another large blue metal door
which slid open for him. He ran past the doorway now entering a
massive stone chamber which like when he first entered the generator
seemed to go down forever, as well as go up forever. There was a
single large metal path leading to a large platform where a massive
machine floated in the air supported by a few anti-gravitational
units on the sides. The machine was marked with a single large
glowing green X. Black rings were emitted from the machine and shot
upwards to later become part of the dark sky. Konesence approached
the core, but then the room began to rumble, then pieces of metal
came flying together in front of the core. The metal assembled
themselves to form a large scorpion which barely fit on the pathway.
The scorpion was grey with red glowing sections where the joints
were. The tail was formed of many large spheres with the last one
that split apart at the end with the end half of the sphere split
apart into quarters that were at each corner of the sphere, in the
center of it was a large barrel of a cannon. The claws were
massively oversized for the body as well there were 3 sets of
gatling cannons inside each claw. The head was menacing in
appearance, it had a single red eye with a set of 2 large pincers
that clicked constantly.
“Beautiful,” Konesence muttered. The
scorpion raised it’s right claw then opened it releasing a barrage
of bullets onto Konesence. He spun his sword rapidly blocking out
the bulk of the bullets, but a few of them still struck him in the
shoulder and leg. The scorpion began to advance on Konesence with
it’s left claw opening fire on him as well. The new set of gunfire
caught Konesence off guard and pummeled him in the side with
bullets. Konesence crumpled to his side from the constant fire, now
the scorpion stopped firing and reached at him with the left claw
and grabbed him. Konesence tried to break free from the scorpion but
was unable to do so. The three guns inside the claw began to spin
again signaling an imminent attack. A second later Konesence’s body
got pummeled by bullets. His body began to convulse rapidly, for 8
minutes his body was being eaten away by the bullets until the
scorpion just dropped him to the ground, limp like a rag doll.
Konesence slowly raised an arm trying to counterattack, but the
scorpion noticed his movements and pointed it’s tail cannon at him
and fired a large green laser that blasted him back and against the
metal door that he came through. Konesence looked at the advancing
scorpion weakly, then he remembered about the core beyond it.
“I’ve come to far to be beaten by some
reject pile of metal! I’ve got enough strength for one last attack.”
Konesence raised his sword into the air, the blade glowing bright
red for a moment then a beam shot straight up into the air.
“Meteor strike!” At that instant large
flaming meteors rained from the ceiling smashing apart first the
anti-gravitational units on the side of the core which began to tilt
and fall, then one massive meteor collided with the core itself
which began to spark violently. Konesence closed his eyes, his
mission now complete. The core was struck by another massive meteor
and exploded violently, engulfing the entire room with a flames,
incinerating the scorpion and Konesence.

All was still at this hour in Shadowlight
City, everyone was catching up on sleep. But an earth shattering
explosion from the cloak generator in the heart of the city woke
everyone up to a horrible fate. In minutes rays of sunlight began to
break through the black sky. The Myreisons on the ground who were
unfortunate enough to be struck by the sunlight instantly began to
turn black and dissolve into ashes. Total hysteria broke out,
everyone was trying to get somewhere where they would be safe, but
the ruminants of the cloak was dissolving fast, many were being
struck and killed. Flocks of them were all trying to get into their
homes and go underground, but very few were successful in this.
Inside the military complex of the
Myreisons dozens of generals were being reduced to ashes, but they
all tried to reach the control panel of their final weapon; Meteor.
The Myreison’s final weapon was a massive meteor which had been
taken from a distant asteroid belt and rigged up to possess high
power rockets, now it was the time to use the weapon. One of the
remaining generals made it to the controls in time to execute the
launch sequence right before he was reduced to dust.
A massive meteor soon blocked out the sun,
the Magisters saw this and tried to do something to stop it, but
like the Myreisons, their attempts were in vain. In a short 30
minutes Armageddon had happened on the planet Earth staining it
blood red for millions of years afterward.

Airaxen looked at the shadow when the scene
in front of them had finished and turned back into the void.
“I...Did all of that?”
“Yes, and it was a good thing that you did.
If you hadn’t the Myreisons would have won the war and began
conquest of the galaxy and then some.”
“I see...”
“Now that’s enough of that. You need to
return back to the mortal plane,” the shadow began to hover off
again, Airaxen followed him again.
“And how am I supposed to do that?” Airaxen
asked.
“I’ll show you,” he turned around and
opened his claw revealing two crystals in his hand, but these two
were different then the other 7.
“You see, very few people know this but, in
actuality 9 crystals were created not 7. These are the crystals of
Light and Dark.” The crystal on the right was translucent and clear.
The crystal on the left was also translucent but it was black. The
shadow handed Airaxen both of the crystals.
“Those two crystals are more powerful then
all 7 of the other crystals combined, you must take good care of
them.” Airaxen nodded and closed his fist around the two crystals.
Then blue crystals appeared around Airaxen, he looked around himself
franticly. The crystals enclosed around him forming a sphere.
“Don’t worry Airaxen, you’ll be fine. Now I
need to find myself a new body, it is time for me to help in this
war.” The shadow waved it’s claw causing both him and the sphere to
disappear.

“Sonaris, where are we going?” Tikai asked.
They were flying through the air at about 30km/h, Sonaris would’ve
gone much faster but Tikai wasn’t used to the experience yet. She
was trying to look forward despite the harsh winds, but mostly she
was just looking straight down which probably wasn’t such a good
idea being up so high in the sky.
“The central military base of the country
holds a database of where all the ICBMs are held, we have to go
there and get the data and with that locate the weaponry.”
“I see, ack stupid wind!”
“Don’t worry you’ll get used to this it
after awhile,” just as Sonaris finished his sentence the shadow of a
large winged person passed over them. Sonaris stopped instantly
grabbing Tikai by the shoulder to signal to her to stop.
“What is it?” She asked.
“That,” Sonaris pointed in front at Omega
as he hovered down to be level with the two.
“I’ve been looking for you two! I need to
finish my mission objective and kill you too Sonaris, and then I’ll
just kill the human out of spite,” Sonaris narrowed his eyes and
began to draw the swords off his back. But Tikai was enraged beyond
words towards Omega and flew straight at him, punching him in the
face with the metal gauntlets she wore. Omega was knocked back a
meter or so, then spun to face Tikai and began to change his arm
into a weapon, but Tikai was quicker on the draw. The two box-like
structures on the back of her armor slid up to be on top of her
shoulders, they glowed green for a moment then unleashed a flurry of
small green lasers that pummeled Omega in the chest. A minute passed
and 400 of the projectiles had struck Omega stunning him. Again he
tried to counterattack, but again Tikai was faster then he was. She
pointed both gauntlets at his head and shot two thin blue beams
which both hit him in the visor-like eye destroying it.
“Jesus! I had better stay on your good side
in the future,” said Sonaris in bewilderment.
“Yeah you had better. But I think we should
get away from him, don’t think he’s too happy about the whole attack
thing.”
“Agreed,” Sonaris grabbed Tikai around the
waist and held her then flew forward at top speed, which was about
80km/h.
Omega was clutching his shattered eye piece
yelling in a furious rage. Minutes later he stopped his shouts and
lowered his hands from his face a new visor forming rapidly. He
pressed a button on the side of his head and shouted:
“Send a large battalion to my coordinates
at once!” In a few short minutes about a hundred of the grey
transforming robots crowded around Omega awaiting orders. Omega
swung his arm to the side and shouted for them to combine. The
robots all formed groups of five then two of them would transforming
into a rocket while the other three broke apart and recombined to
create a larger rocket but it would have two large vents running
along it as well the front point was split in half, revealing the
front of a laser weapon. The two rockets would then attach
themselves to the sides of the larger rocket and then spin a few
times and then rocketed straight at the fleeing Sonaris and Tikai.
Sonaris stopped abruptly and let Tikai go.
“Ok we have to take out those guys but we
have to somehow figure out a way to do it without multiplying all of
them,” Tikai said frustrated.
“Watch it! They’re opening fire!” Shouted
Sonaris. The vents on each of the fighters opened revealing small
rockets. They unleashed a single rocket each. The projectiles raced
at the duo, Tikai’s shoulder weapons slid into place again and then
she fired a flurry of lasers at the incoming rockets destroying
them. They fighters arched high into the air to attack them again.
“I got an idea, if we can destroy the
rockets on the side of those fighters they’ll simply fall to the
ground rather then duplicate,” Tikai nodded at prepared two lasers
for when the opportunity to strike presented itself. The fighters
came at them again but before they could fire more rockets Tikai
shot at the rockets of one of the attackers and true to form she
struck the right rocket of one which instantly began to spin towards
the ground and lodge itself into the dirt. Sonaris charged head on
at the remaining two dozen and drew his swords. He passed in between
a dozen of them slashing at their sides as he went. The remaining 11
stopped their attack and fell back, Tikai and Sonaris thought that
they had beaten them back but they were wrong. They had regrouped to
form a circle and began to spin rapidly while moving closer together
and separating from each other. As they did this bright streaks of
light could be seen gathering around the ring of attackers. Sonaris
narrowed his eyes for a second.
“We have to fall back this instant,” he
said coolly.
“What? Why?”
“If we try to attack we’d most likely cause
them to multiply their numbers. If we don’t they’ll attack and then
we’d be blasted out of the sky. We have no other choice but to fall
back,” Tikai nodded and spun around and jetted off towards their
initial destination. Sonaris followed suit and caught up to Tikai.
“Split up!” He shouted over the roar of the
wind, Tikai nodded and veered to the left while Sonaris moved away
to the right. The 11 remaining fighters stopped their attack
sequence and split up into a group of 5 and another of 6. The 6
fighters gave chase to Sonaris while the remaining 5 flew after
Tikai.
Tikai headed straight towards a large city
to try and lose her pursuers. The fighters immediately opened fire,
launching a dozen rockets at her. They all missed and struck two
large skyscrapers and blasted apart two floors from each of them
causing at least 13 floors of building to collapse in on itself and
continue the destruction by crushing those on the streets. Tikai
looked over her shoulder briefly to see them begin to charge the
large cannon at the front, so she dove down and became level to the
cars rushing away from the disaster zone. The fighters dove down
with her and began to fire off large blue laser beams which still
missed her but struck any car near Tikai as she passed and instantly
blown the vehicle into shrapnel killing the occupants as well. Tikai
spun around to have her back facing the ground and pointed both
gauntlets at the fighters, took aim and fired two beams which both
missed. She fired again and just skimmed the edge of one of the
crafts. Tikai spun back around so she wouldn’t smash into something
and then flew up as more beams were shot at her, again they all
missed but came very close to striking her, as well the beams struck
many different buildings and once again the tops of 4 buildings
began to collapse and topple over.
“These architects make really lousy
buildings!” Tikai muttered under her breath. She looked over her
shoulder again then went straight forward in an attempt to fly right
under the first falling structure.
<This always worked in the movies, for the
love of god work for me!> Tikai was nearly touching the ground and
nearly cleared from being crushed. With a final burst of speed she
escaped the reach of the building, but two of the fighters that
followed her weren’t so lucky and were buried under the building.
Tikai shot up high above the ground and level with the roofs of
other buildings. She looked around to locate the other 3 fighters
but she couldn’t find them. Then a beam shot from behind her and hit
a lamppost off to her side. She spun around to see the remaining
fighter crafts coming at her. She took aim again and shot off two
more beams at the right side of one of them. This time she struck
the craft and caused it to spin out of control and smash into the
ground, surprisingly still intact except for the right side. Tikai
spun to the left and flew down a different street with the fighters
still on her tail
* * *
. Sonaris weaved in and out of the
alleyways the fighters tailing him following him flawlessly. He spun
around and put his two swords together by the hilt to form a dual
blade. He charged forward and slashed off the rockets to all 6 of
his pursuers.
“Hmph, too easy for me,” he said quietly.
Sonaris then flew up to see Tikai being chased by two of the
fighters. He dove down splitting apart his weapon and cut off the
rockets of the remaining fighters.
“Heh, thanks Sonaris,” Tikai said
breathlessly. She stopped and landed on the ground and immediately
laid down.
“I’m not through with you yet!” Boomed
Omega’s voice from off in the distance. Sonaris looked around and
spotted the silvery demon flying straight at them.
“Oh joy here comes Omega. Come on we have
to get out of here!” Sonaris dove down and grabbed Tikai by the
arms. Omega’s arm transformed into a laser gun, he then targeted
them and fired off an orange ball of electricity. Tikai swung from
side to side signaling to Sonaris to go to the side which he did,
just before it blasted them apart. The attack struck a building and
destroyed a floor from it causing it to fall on top of the floors
beneath it and crush two more floors before falling backwards onto
another building creating a domino effect.
“Good lord, this city is going to be
devastated just like Calgary was!” Tikai said in disbelief.
“I know, I know but we have no choice but
to watch,” Tikai glared at Omega, the guns mounted on her shoulders
glowed for a moment then released a barrage of small lasers at
Omega. He swatted them away with his other arm then took aim and
fired another energy ball which missed again and blew up a small
building. Tikai shook an arm free from Sonaris’s grip and pointed
the gauntlet at Omega and began to fire blue laser beams at him,
which he spun to the side to avoid. Omega looked down for a moment
and took note of the parked cars on the ground then got an idea. He
dove down and lifted up a large truck and flung it at Sonaris. Tikai
let out a strangled squeak then fired a beam at the truck blasting
it into shrapnel.
“Omega’s lost it!” Tikai shouted up to
Sonaris.
“I know, I know! Keep firing at him, I’ll
try to lose him!” He shouted back. Tikai was about to respond but
was only let out a squeak when a mini-van came at them, which like
the truck was shot at and blown apart. Omega chuckled, he was
clearly amused at the spectacle. He then grabbed a Volkswagen, but
instantly dropped it when he looked to his side.
“Hey, looks like the flying cars have
stopped!” Tikai said, but then cursed under her breath when she saw
Omega flying at them with a large 18-wheeler carrying a tanker all
of this held up by Omega’s two arms.
“SONARIS! GET US OUT OF HERE!” She screamed
at the top of her lungs. Omega laughed then stopped and threw the
massive 2 ton vehicle straight at them. Sonaris glanced over his
shoulder for a moment, then muttered something under his breath
before shooting straight up evading the flying vehicle. Instead of
hitting them it now smashed into the base of the largest building in
the area, but didn’t explode. Sonaris looked back again then down at
the building with the truck in it.
“Tikai, fire at that truck.”
“What? Why?”
“Do it!” She pointed her gauntlet at the
tank of the truck and shot off a blue beam at it. The tank was full
of propane which instantly ignited and exploded, taking out a good
portion of the bottom of the building.
“Fire again!” Sonaris shouted, Tikai nodded
then shot another beam into the flames, this time the blast caused
the building to wobble. Finally the massive structure began to
topple over slowly.
“Omega is going to make it before he gets
hit by the building!” Sonaris spun around and looked from the
building to Omega then frowned.
“Forgive me,” he said quickly, before Tikai
could respond she was thrown into the air. Sonaris then pointed the
cannon mounted on his arm at Omega then fired a large laser at him,
Omega flew up over it but in doing so wasted too much time and was
hit by the massive building. Sonaris put his arms out and caught
Tikai’s falling body.
“Eh, thanks but next time give me some more
forewarning before you decide to flung me like a rag doll!” Sonaris
grinned feverishly.
“Right sorry about that,” Sonaris let go of
Tikai letting her fly on her own means. Tikai watched the building
smash into the ground crushing Omega, as well the top floor smashed
into a gas station causing it to erupt in flames when another truck
driver got distracted and swerved to the side smashing into a large
building then exploding as well as the other one causing it to fall
and topple over to create a domino effect smashing over more
buildings.
“Sonaris...Next time we try losing Omega
and his buddies we don’t do it in a city where everything was made
in China,” Tikai mumbled under her breath while shaking her head
dismally.
* * *
15 minutes later after the utter chaos had
settled down and no more buildings were being knocked over. People
began to gather around the first building that crashed into the
ground, the one that had taken out Omega. The area within a one mile
radius now resembled a war zone. Fires were everywhere with the
ruins of buildings decorating the area. Suddenly the decimated
building began to shake and rumble, then all of the rubble was sent
flying in all directions, as well as taking out anyone nearby. Omega
stood up at the epicenter of where the rubble was shot away from.
“Hmph, they got away,” Omega tapped the
side of his head again.
“Status report.”
“The ion cannons are 49% charged, ETA is 12
hours and 47 minutes,” a computerized voice responded.
“Hmph, fine then. Send all inactive units
to my position, I need something with more brute force.” Omega
flapped his wings and flew high up into the air then crossed his
arms. Minutes passed and then a mass of over a thousand robots.
“Alright men, time for you to make me a
floating fortress, transform and combine!” Each and every one of the
robots broke apart into dozens of machine parts, then they all flew
up above Omega and began to piece themselves together. Very rapidly
the shape of a large ship, soon the front began to develop into a
bird nose like shape which was all read. Beyond that the large form
of a fuselage formed with many small vents running the length of the
craft. At the back there were two large triangular structures
sticking out of the back with 6 massive openings where the engines
were located.
“Very nicely done, alright then,” a large
hole on the bottom of the craft opened up, a green beam engulfing
Omega which then drew him up and into the carrier.
“Comes with the alien abduction kit too,
alright then lets see what I can do with this until I can blast
those pests into oblivion.”

Tikai and Sonaris were both flying through
the air again still heading towards the central military base. They
had been traveling for a very long time, it was now night and Tikai
was beginning to give out to fatigue. Her eyes began to close but
she tried to keep them open, to no avail. She began to turn to the
side and descend slowly. Sonaris saw this happening from the corner
of his eye and put an arm on her shoulder and shook her gently.
“I believe it would a good idea if you were
too rest for the night,” Tikai nodded sleepily and then was guided
down to the ground by Sonaris. They landed beside the road on a
highway, Sonaris stepped onto the road and looked around.
“What are you doing?” Tikai asked quietly.
“Getting some transportation,” as if on cue
a large truck’s headlights came into view. Sonaris stood in the path
of the vehicle. The truck stopped abruptly, the disgruntled driver
exited his vehicle quickly and began to shout at Sonaris. Sonaris
walked straight up to the man then shoved him aside.
“I’m going to need your means of
transportation, I trust that won’t be too much of a problem,
correct?” Sonaris glanced over his shoulder menacingly, the man
blinked and nodded, cowering at Sonaris’s stare. He then jumped into
the driver’s side of the truck. Tikai walked over to the poor driver
and leaned over.
“Sorry, we’ll give it back or something,
thanks thou!” She then ran to the other side of the truck and went
in. The driver then just sat on the side of the road watching as his
truck was being driven off by the two hijackers. Tikai took off the
heavy suit of battle armor she had been wearing for about the last 5
hours and placed it under the dashboard.
“I feel so much lighter without that thing
weighing me down,” Tikai said in relief.
“Yes, should’ve made that somewhat lighter,
oh well I suppose,” Sonaris replied. He glanced to the side at Tikai
who looked somewhat troubled.
“Is something on your mind Tikai?” He asked
her. Tikai glanced at him briefly then looked straight ahead again.
“No...Yes...I’m thinking of Air, I didn’t
think he’d die or something you know? The bad guy isn’t supposed to
win, but that’s just in movies and television, this is real life. I
sort of wanted to know what he thought of me...Wish he was still
alive.”
“Well, he did say to me his thoughts about
you, thou not on purpose. From what I’ve heard, I do believe he has
a slight fondness towards you,” Tikai spun her head around at
Sonaris, her face lighting up suddenly.
“Really? What did he say?” She asked
excitedly.
“I asked him what he knew about you, his
tone of voice and choice of words is not in the original personality
programmed into him, he was acting out of his perimeters in an area
which I didn’t think had been affected by his human part taking
over. His mind doesn’t contain more then 10% DNA so it wouldn’t be
possible for him to express anymore emotion then what was programmed
in, and what was programmed in was a small range of emotions one
that didn’t contain any ability to grow attached to another person,
but he was made to be user friendly...Sort of.”
“Oh, so but maybe that was a glitch you
know, Dimitri obviously didn’t do a good job making Airaxen his
obedient servant after all, maybe he screwed up on that part too.”
“Perhaps, but I don’t see any point in
discussing a person who was blasted into oblivion, they are gone and
no earthly force can change that,” Tikai looked away from Sonaris
and lowered her head.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t good at these sort of
things. We have a job to do, we can get revenge on Omega for what he
did, right?” There was no response.
“Hm, well none the less you should rest
up,” Tikai nodded then leaned on the side door and began to sleep.
Sonaris sighed and shook his head.
“Airaxen, you were much better at winging
it then I am...I need your help, if only I could’ve changed what’s
happened,” he sighed again then concentrated on driving for the rest
of the night.
* * *
Sonaris stopped the truck 8 hours later in
front of a small bunker in the middle of the desert. He jumped out
of the vehicle and walked towards the bunker. Five armed military
men emerged from the bunker carrying large guns over their
shoulders.
“Identify yourself interloper,” shouted one
of the men. Sonaris ignored them and continue walking towards the
bunker.
“I said identify yourself!” The men began
to arm their weapons, now Sonaris stopped advancing.
“You know about the attacks on the cities,
correct? Well if you want to stop them you had best let me pass. Now
what will it be?” They all looked at each other then nodded.
“Come with us.” They led Sonaris into the
bunker where dozens of soldiers greeted them, all of which holding
weapons pointed at Sonaris. then from amidst the soldiers a single
person brandished with medals on his coat; he was the general of the
complex.
“Are you one of them?” He asked in a harsh
tone.
“If you mean I’m a organic machine then I
am one of them, but if you mean I’m with them to destroy the planet
then I’m not.”
“Then why are you here?”
“Have you been keeping track of the
satellites orbiting the planet?” The man raised his eyebrow then
turned to look at one of the men in the room.
“Check up on the satellites immediately!”
The soldier nodded and ran off to a computer console then shouted
from it.
“Sir! The 35 satellites making up the
Global Defense Matrix are repositioning themselves, and I can’t
override whoever is doing this!”
“You can’t. Omega has taken control of the
satellites and is going to fire them upon the major cities of the
world and I need to gain the knowledge of where the ICBMs are
located and the launch sequence for them. Time is running out,”
Sonaris narrowed his eyes at the general. He spun around at soldier
at the console.
“Load the launch sequences onto a CD
immediately!” He shouted.
“Alright, the location to the ICBMs are 100
miles northwest from here. When you’re there it’s just a city but
many of the buildings contain the missiles. The control panel is in
the city’s tower. Got it? We’re counting on you to stop this
madman,” Sonaris nodded and was then handed a disk by the soldiers
and then walked back out. He jumped back into the truck waking Tikai
up.
“Huh? Ugh...What time is it?” She asked
groggily.
“No idea, I think it’s the afternoon.”
“Oh aren’t you the scientific one. *yawn*
So what were you just doing?”
“I was got the location and launch sequence
for the ICBMs, so now I’m driving us over to their location.”
“Which is?”
“A city 100 miles northwest of here.”
“Ok, but why?”
“The missiles are hidden in buildings so we
have to go to the city tower there and find the controls to them,
then fire them off at the satellites.”
“Ok then, but after the satellites have
been destroyed, what do we do next?” Sonaris didn’t answer
immediately but instead sighed.
“I don’t know, it almost seems impossible.
Omega has an army which is virtually unstoppable at his command, not
to mention he himself is a very powerful fighter. To be honest I
think we’re doing nothing more then stalling the inevitable.”
“Well we got to keep on fighting none the
less, we can at least stall until the military here get something to
fight back with!”
“Alright, alright. Have to keep at it till
the end, right?” Tikai nodded. Sonaris then slammed his foot onto
the accelerator and spun the truck around and began to head straight
for the city.
“How long until we get there Sonaris?”
“If we stay in this vehicle an hour or so,
if we fly 20 minutes.” Tikai slipped on her battle armor then kicked
open the side door and flew out of the truck, Sonaris followed suit
a few seconds later leaving the truck to swerve out of control and
flip over.
“Oops...Well I don’t think we’ll be
returning that,” Sonaris scratched his head gingerly for a second
then took off after Tikai.
* * *
Omega stood on an elevated platform on his
carrier, enjoying the powerful winds whipping at his face.
“The game is almost done, everything has
come full circle. Those two know about my plan with the weapons
satellites, but I know what they’re going to do about it. In a few
short minutes I’ll be at the location of the ICBMs and have already
destroyed them all. It’s my turn and I’m going to checkmate those
pests,” Omega flew to the nose of the carrier and looked upon the
city that faced him.
“Open fire!” He shouted. The nose of the
carrier split in half and slid open to allow the carrier’s main
cannon to fire. Omega flew up and back into the carrier and went to
the bridge. When he arrived the main gun had finished charging and
fired off a single enormous bolt of energy that struck the city
tower and instantly blasted it apart in a massive explosion. The
explosion then incinerated all of the buildings nearby in a fiery
blaze.
“Alright, now we just wait,” Omega walked
off the bridge and back onto the top of the craft.
* * *
Tikai and Sonaris had thought the city they
would arrive at would be populated with many people; this was wrong.
There was not a single soul as far as they eye could see, and the
fact that about a quarter of the city was nothing more then a
massive crater could’ve contributed to that.
“Looks like Omega beat us here...” Sonaris
muttered quietly. He walked over the mangled pieces of metal and
shrapnel littering the ground.
“We’re walking right into a trap aren’t we
Sonaris?” Tikai asked. Sonaris gave a curt grunt and nodded his
head.
“But just because we’re walking into a trap
doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do it anyway,” Tikai laughed at Sonaris’s
comment, but it was a nervous laughter.
“Ok then, just have to wait for Omega and
his men to show up now, eh?” Tikai muttered, Sonaris nodded.
“This is our last stand, like it or not. So
we had best just accept our fate and hope what we can do now will be
able to stop this insanity.”
“You give quite the speech Sonaris.”
“Hmph, it’s my job as the resident good
guy,” Sonaris put his arms to the side and shrugged, chuckling.
“Oh man, how many corny animes have you
been watching?” Tikai shook her head and laughed again.
“Gotta keep positive, huh?” Said Tikai
after she stopped laughing. Sonaris nodded then turned around and
walked into the center of the crater, peering from side to side as
if expecting something to leap out at him.
<Never in my life did I think I’d be going
out like this...It’s sorta rewarding in a way,> Tikai thought to
herself as she joined up with Sonaris. Soon a loud marching noise
could be heard. Sonaris drew his swords and crossed his arms for a
moment.
“You know Tikai, considering the fact that
during the course of two days you’ve watched a good friend be
killed, and have to try and stop the end of the world, you’re taking
this rather well.”
“Yeah well, I lived in New York for about
12 years. So yeah, you pick up some stuff,” Sonaris looked over at
Tikai, then burst out laughing.
“Well, gotta keep laughing till the very
end, right?” Sonaris nodded at her and then looked around as the
forms of many robots came into view, converging from all sides. The
two looked around as the mass of robots stopped just a few meters
away from them.
“So, how’s it been guys?” Tikai asked the
army of robots. “Heh...Thought I’d at least get a laugh out of them
or something.” Soon the shadow of a massive flying craft engulfed
them, as well as all the robots in the general area. Upon looking
up, they stared at the massive air carrier that Omega used to
destroy the portion of the city they were in.
“Cornered like the rats you are. Well then,
lets get straight to business, KILL THEM ALL!” Boomed Omega’s voice.
The thousands of robots began to arm their weapons and continued
advancing on Tikai and Sonaris. Tikai targeted whatever was getting
close to her and blasted it apart with a barrage of lasers, Sonaris
charged into the mass and slashed apart dozens of the robots. But
all they were doing to the army was increasing it’s numbers. Pieces
of metal were sent flying all directions, large explosions
illuminating the area in bright blazes of fire. But then Sonaris was
hit by two flying arms and knocked into the air and landed next to
Tikai who was also smashed into by a set of arms and landed next to
a building.
“Ugh, how do you get used to this sort of
thing Sonaris?” Tikai said weakly from the blow.
“Eh, you just do after awhile,” Sonaris
responded while his left eye was closed and his right half open, as
if he was tired. “Well, always did want to go out with a bang, you?”
Tikai shrugged and looked around at the robots.
“So uh, would you know if dying by lasers
is painful or not?” Tikai asked timidly.
“It’s probably best I didn’t answer that,”
Sonaris muttered back. Tikai looked down and closed her eyes.
<I’m sorry Airaxen...I failed you, I
couldn’t stop Omega. I’m sorry, forgive me for my failure,> Tikai
thought to herself sadly, a tear forming in her close eyes which
then rolled down her face and dropped onto the concrete ground.
Instantly, the ground began to rumble, the robots stopped their
attacks and looked around for the source. From underneath the
cluster of robots standing in front of Tikai and Sonaris a massive
pillar of light erupted, incinerating the robots. The light died
down soon after, in it’s place a large blue crystal sphere floated
in the air. After a second of floating there, the sphere shot out a
gigantic shockwave at all the robots in the area knocking them all
back 20 meters. Sonaris stood up and took a step towards the sphere
but instantly drew back as massive transparent crystal spikes came
flying from all directions to attach around the sphere. Sonaris
looked around again, the robot army had gotten back on it’s feet and
advanced towards them and the mysterious sphere crystal.
“Tikai, we have to get out of here now!”
She got up slowly and nodded. Sonaris flew straight up, high above
the city. Tikai looked over at the sphere, lingering for reasons
beyond her. The crystal spikes began to pulsate emitting a strange
echoing cry, Tikai blinked then flew up after Sonaris.

Omega slammed his fist into a control panel
aboard his carrier. He was infuriated at the new turn of events and
was blasting apart the robots in the bridge.
“GRAH! What is that thing?! Bah!
Whatever it is it’s interfering with my plans, and nothing
interferes with my plans! Lock onto it with the main gun and fire!”
He ordered. The robots at the controls nodded quickly and began to
point the carrier downwards at the crystal. The nose of the craft
split open again the cannon crackling with explosive energy, ready
to be unleashed. The weapon began to hum to warn of an imminent
attack. Suddenly a enormous bolt of white and red energy shot
straight at the crystal and exploded in a fiery blaze that destroyed
all the buildings and robots in a 1 mile radius. The force of the
explosion jostled Tikai and Sonaris who had difficulty to maintain
their positions in the air. After the massive explosion had
dissipated all that was left of the area was a giant crater in the
ground, as well as a half buried blue crystal. Tikai dropped down to
the crystal before Sonaris could stop her, but something caught his
attention. The air carrier had opened up 2 dozen small openings on
the bottom of the ship which hundreds more robots fell out of the
craft all of which heading towards Tikai.
“Tikai! Get out of there!” Sonaris shouted,
but his warning fell on deaf ears. Sonaris charged at the mass of
robots and began slashing them apart trying to stall them.
Tikai landed next to the large crystal
which was now bare of the transparent crystal spikes. She tried to
dig up the sphere, but was unsuccessful. Suddenly another cry from
the crystal caught her attention, this one sounded as if it were in
pain, howling like a wounded wolf. The crystal began to flicker as
well, one second it was there the next it wasn’t, the crystal had
been hit dead on by Omega’s attack, it was a miracle that it was
still intact instead of being shards scattered along the ground. The
sound of marching could be heard soon, Tikai stood up and began to
push the crystal out of the crater very slowly, but soon was
surrounded by the robots, all of which had their arms pointed at
Tikai.
“Don’t come any closer you tin buckets!” <I
must have lost it! Why am I defending this crystal thing anyway? Oh
well, I’m going to die anyway, might as well defend this thing for
the heck of it.> Tikai pressed up against the crystal sphere which
then shook itself loose from the earth and hovered 3 inches off the
ground. Tikai turned around to look at it, the sphere began to break
apart. The sides of the sphere began to float away slowly while the
middle piece split in half horizontally, the two pieces splitting
apart as well. As the pieces grew farther apart a immense light was
released from the pieces of the sphere until it was impossible to
see anything. During the duration of the bright light Tikai heard
the sound of something shattering, then seconds later the light
vanished as quickly as it came. What greeted Tikai stopped her heart
for a split second, floating in front of her was Airaxen wearing the
same suit of armor he died in, glowing strangely with the illusion
of a set of two massive wings on his back which vanished in a
second. Airaxen lowered down onto the ground, Tikai took a step
towards him, not sure if this was a dream or not. She reached a hand
out and touched his cheek.
“Is...Is it really you? Am I dreaming or
did they already kill me?” Airaxen grabbed Tikai’s hand and lowered
it away from his face.
“Tikai...Err...You ok? You look like you’re
about to break down or something. And of course it’s me, only a guy
like me could pull of being resurrected. But yeah, that‘s not the
point here, first we should do something with the masses of robots
about to kill us, eh?” Tikai wiped her eyes quickly then nodded at
him.
“Ok then, what do we do?” Tikai asked.
“You just be prepared to run for it!”
Airaxen put his right hand to the side, hand opened wide. A bright
orb of white energy formed in his open palm.
“Dark-light!” He slammed his right hand
into the ground a large white shockwave shooting forward causing a
fissure to rip through the ground and engulf all of the robots who
weren’t struck down by the shockwave.
“RUN!” He shouted as he formed two new orbs
one in each hand. Tikai flew past the robots and then up to Sonaris
who was still trying to hold off the swarms of robots. Sonaris took
note of Tikai from the corner of his eye.
“Tikai, you made it! Are you ok?”
“Sonaris, Airaxen! He...He’s alive!”
“What?!” Sonaris looked around and noticed
the bright lights coming from the newest formed crater, then a mass
of the robots would be destroyed and another flash of light.
“I never knew he had that sort of
attack...Oh right! We have to go help him!” Before they could move
towards Airaxen a streak of silver shot past them straight at the
battlefield.
“It’s Omega!” Tikai shouted. She began to
give chase, but a dozen robots flew up to her and stopped her,
Sonaris went right past the ones that stopped Tikai but another
dozen appeared in front of Sonaris in order to stop him. Omega
transformed his arm in mid-flight and fired an orange orb of energy
down at Airaxen which was what appeared to be a direct hit blasting
him apart in an explosion like he did before. But after the
explosion had settled all of the robots were destroyed, but Airaxen
stood there without a single sign of damage. Omega landed on the
opposite side of the crater from Airaxen harshly creating a dust
cloud around him.
“It can’t be! I killed you with my own
hands! YOU’RE DEAD!” Omega yelled in half anger and half fear. Omega
flew forward like a bullet, a beam saber forming in his right hand.
He pointed his left arm, which was still a cannon at Airaxen and
fired another energy orb at him. On Airaxen’s right arm the grid
schematic of a octahedron with part of the bottom cut off and a part
of the top cut off formed around the forearm. The device was colored
with a large yellow band running on the sides as well as outlining
the top part of the device which was cut off, which appeared to be
like a monitor for the device. The new device was situated in the
center of his forearm and covered about half of it. The yellow band
around the device split apart and spun around to make the device
resemble that of a crossbow. Then another grid schematic began to
form, this one originating from the two bands that had shot forth
and the top of the device. This grid schematic was that of a large
sword blade. When the blade had formed Airaxen swung it at the
incoming attack and slashed it apart, causing an explosion to occur
just inches away from him. Omega stopped his attack before he was
engulfed by the explosion. Airaxen leapt out of it straight at him
and swung his blade down at Omega who parried the move with his beam
saber. Jolts of electricity fired out from the point of where the
two weapons made contact.
“You’re dead! You can’t be alive!”
“Well I’m afraid that you didn’t do a very
good job in killing me. Now I’m back and stronger then ever!”
Airaxen back flipped away from him forming another white orb in his
left hand.
“Dark-light bomb!” He flung the small orb
at Omega, but as it flew through the air it grew to be at least as
big as a small car. Omega raised his arms to defend against the
attack but was blasted away none the less. Omega pressed a hand to
his head.
“Lock onto Airaxen and fire the main gun! I
don’t care what’s in the way when you do just fire!” Omega flew up
into the air and took something from behind him: the seven crystals
he had taken.
“I didn’t think I’d need to use these, but
you’ve left me with no other choice!”
“Why thank you! I’ve been wondering what
happened to those!” Airaxen raised his opened hand, the remaining
crystals all flew out of Omega’s hands and onto Airaxen’s. They then
turned into little balls of light and seemingly went into his body.
On Airaxen’s chest plate the 7 crystals formed lodged in the armor
in a diamond design with a crystal in the center. After this design
had finished forming two other crystals appeared at the top corner
of the chest plate, one translucent white the other translucent
black. Omega drew back and flew high up into the air.
“FIRE THE MAIN GUN ALREADY!” He yelled. The
carrier tilted downwards to point at Airaxen. He formed two white
orbs, one in each hand. Tikai noticed the carrier’s movements as she
fought off swarms of the robots.
“Sonaris, that carrier is getting ready to
fire again!” Tikai shouted.
“We’ll be fine up here,” he shouted back.
“But it’s going to fire on Air!” Sonaris
looked at the ground seeing Airaxen standing in the crater, two
bright orbs of light in each hand.
“I don’t think you have to worry, looks
like he’s got a plan,’ he said while decapitating a robot without
looking. The nose of the carrier split open the massive bolt of
energy about to be fired. Airaxen did nothing to try and escape from
the area, he continued to form the two orbs. Then a bolt of energy
fired out at Airaxen. The bolt collided with the ground, creating a
massive explosion. It appeared that it was a direct hit, but Airaxen
leapt up and out of the fiery cloud and flew up to the carrier,
putting his hands together the orbs merging into one. He swung his
right arm to the side, now the orb in that hand.
“Dark-light slash!” The orb of light
flattened out and became an enormous white beam as thick as a
pencil. He raised it above his head then brought it straight down,
the beam grew longer and longer until it was much bigger then the
carrier. The beam sliced through the carrier like a hot knife
through butter; the carrier had been cut in half as if it were
nothing. The two pieces of the carrier began to fall to the ground
in different directions, explosions dotting their armor. Large
chunks of armor began to rain from the sky most of which taking out
the robotic army it helped to create. The carrier pieces smashed
into the ground and exploded in a massive mushroom cloud that rocked
the Earth for miles around. After the cloud dissipated all that
could be seen were flames everywhere with scrap parts lying all over
the ground. Airaxen closed his eyes and began to plummet to the
ground, but just before he hit he pulled up and landed on the ground
gently. Shortly after he landed Tikai and Sonaris joined him on the
ground.
“Heheh....Ok, now you know how to make an
entrance Airaxen!” Sonaris laughed while surveying the damage he had
caused with his last attack. Airaxen scratched the back of his head
slightly embarrassed.
“Yeah, didn’t think that I could do so much
damage with that one move.” Then a pile of rubble off to the left
shook for a second and was blasted apart, Omega standing where the
rubble once was his wings tattered and ripped.
“Ok! Now I’ll kill you all!” He pressed a
hand to his head and shouted into it: “Lock onto Airaxen‘s position,
and fire as many ion blasts as you can! I don’t care if you destroy
me or not! JUST DO IT!”
“What is he talking about guys?” Airaxen
asked timidly.
“Don’t ask, we have to get out of here
first!” The three of them all took to the air about to leave, but
Omega fired an energy orb at Airaxen and knocked him out of the sky.
Tikai spun around to catch him, but Sonaris grabbed her by the arm.
“You can’t help him! You’ll die too!”
“But!” Tikai looked away and lowered her
head. “Not again...”
“We have to get out of here! Don’t worry,
he’ll be fine.”
Airaxen hit the ground hard stunning him
for a second, but he stood up and looked around.
“...Hey...Wasn’t I supposed to be hit by an
ion cannon yet?”

The creature flying across the frozen
tundra could only be described as ferocious. If the beast was
standing it would be 15 feet tall, covered in it’s massive black
armor-like scales. The body resembled that of a human, but the
shoulders were pointed to the sides like a piece of armor, and the
beast had two massive wings sprouting out of it’s back. The wings
were colored mostly black with red outlining them. On the chest of
the creature was a large blue crystal gem that glowed a bright blue
aura. The beast also sported a long 8 feet long black tail with a
massive spike at the end. The final detail about the beast was it’s
head, it was that of a dragon, it’s eyes were like small slits with
blue eyes cut into it’s armor like head. Simply put, no sensible
person would dare think of angering this dragon. The dragon soared
high up into the air and let out a massive roar which echoed for
miles around. The dragon put his arms together for a second then
split them apart and let another roar, the gem on it’s chest turning
white while he turned to point downwards.
Around the perimeter of the subterranean
control room stood a dozen robots standing guard. One of them looked
up at the clouds, it thought that it saw something shine but it was
probably the sun. But a second later all of the clouds above them
parted to let an enormous white beam engulf the bunker which then
grew larger and totally disintegrated everything within a 50 meter
radius. After the beam dissipated all that was left of the bunker
was a gigantic hole going into the Earth for what seemed like
forever.
“It’s good to have a body again...But now
that this is done I have to find Airaxen,” the dragon said in a deep
voice that was like that of a growl. It then flapped it’s wings and
flew off again.

“GRAH! WHY ISN’T ANYONE RESPONDING?! WHY
ISN’T IONIC DOOM RAINING FROM THE SKY YET?!” Omega let out a howl of
anger and stomped the ground creating a large crack.
“Heads up handsome!” Tikai flew at Omega
from the side and slammed her metal covered fist into the side of
Omega’s head, followed up with a punch to his chest that knocked him
back a good foot or two. Omega straightened up and regained his
composure, then took aim at Tikai but before he could think of
firing Sonaris leapt up from behind Tikai a sword in his right arm
held with the blade facing backwards. With a swift motion from
Sonaris he slashed apart Omega’s cannon and then turned to the side
and elbowed him in the gem on his chest cracking it as well as
knocking him back a few more feet. Before Omega could react again
Airaxen came crashing down from the sky his left hand raised in the
air and glowing bright white.
“I got something for you Omega! Dark-light
crash!” Airaxen slammed his hand into the ground in front of Omega
the ground shattering into large slabs of rock as instant later a
massive wave of energy shot forth and blasted Omega high up into the
air. Airaxen spun around forming a small orb of energy as he did so
then point two fingers at Omega and fired a thin white beam straight
through the weakened gem on his chest. Omega fell to the ground like
a rag doll: lifeless.
“So, think we killed him yet?” Sonaris
asked casually.
“If in doubt, just keep shooting until
there’s nothing left to shoot,” Airaxen responded. But before they
could do anything Omega groaned weakly and then stood up slowly but
was barely able to stay standing. The remaining scrapped robot parts
that were still larger then a small cat floated up and rebuilt
themselves into a small jet since most of the robots were totally
wiped out by the carrier’s crashing. Omega stumbled back and landed
in the cockpit of the jet.
“I’ll be back, and I won’t fail in killing
you next time!” Tikai charged forward at him but the jet flew up too
fast for her and flew off. Tikai shot at the small craft but
couldn’t hit it despite her great aim. Airaxen put a hand on her
shoulder, she lowered her gauntlets slowly and sighed.
“Why did you let him escape? We could’ve
finished this once and for all!”
“Don’t worry about it Tikai, he’ll be
licking his wounds for quite some time. I want him to just think
about his latest defeat. Just a little payback for killing me.”
“That’s what I’m worried about...I don’t
want you to die, not again!” Airaxen took a step towards her but a
thunderous roar from the left distracted him. Sonaris began to
charge his arm cannon and point it at the sky, but Airaxen put a
hand on it and lowered his arm to the side.
“Wait a second, don’t fire I think I know
what’s coming,” he said quietly. A minute later a large black winged
creature could be made out against the sky line, another minute
later the large dragon-like beast crashed down onto the ground a
meter away from them and let out another thunderous roar.
“Well, it appears that I’ve missed all the
action around here,” he said in his half-growl of a voice. “It is
very good to have a body again, I’ve missed being able to fly
around.”
“That’s good, ok then. What’s your name?”
Airaxen asked.
“Call me Draken, it’s nice and simple and
suits the body I’ve chosen,” Draken swung his head back and let out
another thunderous roar that shook the Earth.
“Heh, show off.” Draken smirked at
Airaxen’s comment. “Ok, I say we head back to Sonaris’s mountain
lab,” Sonaris nudged Airaxen in the side and chuckled.
“Hey, I’ll race ya,” challenged Sonaris,
Airaxen chuckled as well and agreed. They both counted to three and
shot forward off like bullets. Draken walked over to Tikai and put
one of his claws on her shoulder.
“Come on, we had best hurry up before we
lose them,” Tikai nodded, but before she could lift off the ground
Draken spoke again.
“He feels the same as you do, but he just
hides it better then you. Here, I’ll give you a ride you seem tired
anyway,” Tikai nodded again and climbed onto Draken’s back. Draken
flapped his massive wings and took to the air after Airaxen and
Sonaris.
* * *
6 hours later they had all returned to
Sonaris’s mountain lab, but Draken had to forcefully enter much to
Sonaris’s dismay.
“Wait! Just give me a second here!” Sonaris
shouted.
“I’ve been stuck in this puny doorway for
20 minutes! I’m not going to wait anymore!” With a mighty roar
Draken unfurled his wings and arms demolishing the entrance way,
making another large hole for Sonaris to repair. Tikai walked in on
the two, no longer wearing the suit of armor and headed over to the
two.
“Do any of you guys know where Airaxen is?”
She asked quietly. Draken shook his head, Sonaris lowered his head
in thought for a moment then snapped his fingers.
“Yeah, if I remember he should be up on a
large plateau high on the mountain, if you take the elevator at the
end of that hall you’ll be up there.” Tikai nodded and headed off to
the elevator while Sonaris got Draken to repair the damages he
caused.
Airaxen stood atop the plateau but without
his armor, the night sky above him with the moonlight illuminating
half of his face. He stood there still as an owl hunting, then he
suddenly dashed forward at a large boulder, the blade on his wrist
forming as he charged forward. With a swift motion he slashed apart
the boulder the top half flying high into the air. Airaxen jumped up
the blade on his wrist split apart and shifted down to the sides to
form a pincer-like weapon. A ball of energy began to form between
the two blade halves, Airaxen aimed downwards, the ball of energy
turning into an orange beam which shot down and incinerate the
boulder halves. Airaxen landed on the ground gracefully to complete
his attack, the blade on the device dissipating. He straightened up
and turned around, Tikai stood there, her expression blank and
solemn.
“Something up Tikai?” Airaxen asked
cautiously.
“You should’ve killed Omega, next time
he’ll be more reckless then ever trying to kill you!” She shouted.
“I don’t really care-” Tikai let out a cry
of frustration and spun around. “You might not care about that, but
I do! I don’t want you to die again!” She said quietly, her voice
beginning to tremble.
“Don’t worry, I won’t die! No way can he
take me down now,” Airaxen said with an air of confidence. Tikai
spun around quickly, ran up to him and slapped him across the face
forcefully, Airaxen staggered back slightly.
“You don’t get it!” Tikai began to cry
softly, Airaxen moved towards her to try and comfort her, but Tikai
slapped him again.
“Stupid!” Airaxen recovered quickly this
time and nodded at her.
“Yeah,” he said quietly. Tikai slapped him
again using the other hand.
“Moron!”
“Uh huh,” and again, now tears were flowing
from her eyes.
“Imbecile!”
“Yup,” and again.
“Idiot!” She broke down totally now and
swung both arms around Airaxen and hugged him tightly.
“I know, I know,” he put both arms around
her as well and held her.
“Air...” Tikai looked into his face then
rested her head on his shoulder. “Never let go of me.” Airaxen
patted her on the head gently.
“Don’t worry, I won’t. You can count on
that,” he said quietly.
“I’m sorry...I couldn’t help you when you
needed it,” Tikai closed her eyes, a few more tears rolled down her
face.
“What do you mean?”
“When Omega had challenged you to that duel
I couldn’t stop him from killing you, and when you came back you got
shot down and if it wasn’t for Draken you would be dead again! I’m
sorry that I’m so useless,” her arms fell to her side and she broke
Airaxen’s grip and turned away from him. “I don’t even know why you
haven’t ordered me to get out.”
“You’re not useless, Sonaris told me about
how you gave Omega a few good shots for me, so you can’t be
useless,” Airaxen put a hand on her shoulder, Tikai spun around and
hugged him again, tighter then before.
“I’m sorry I’m so clingy these days Air...I
lost you once, I will not lose you again!”
“I know,” he stroked her long blond hair
gently while Tikai rested her head on Airaxen’s shoulder. He closed
his eyes and put his other arm around her. The two simply held each
other late into the night with the moonlight illuminating their
faces
