Wandering in the Dark

By Benxiao Ma

Chapter 5: Endgame

A tall dark and cloaked figure walked down a dark and very, very poorly lit sidewalk the only light came from a small glowing rock placed about every other meter. There were many people crowded around every couple of steps, filling the sidewalk with plenty of noise; this was the marketplace of Shadowlight City, located deep within the Earth.

“Bah, hate this time of day, way to bright,” he muttered in a very quiet and deep voice. He looked around at his surroundings, a row of buildings to his left, another to his right; what did he expect? This was the marketplace after all. He sped up his pace, cloak fluttering slightly, then turned and entered a small bunker like building. A set of stairs greeted him which he walked down, and entered a large room filled with darkened capsules and a very large computer console opposite to him. He walked into the room slowly and up to the console, pressing a few keys.

“Hmph, Sonaris failed, that traitor. Alright then, time for the new guy to try his hand,” he snapped his fingers, footsteps followed soon after. The silhouette of a thin winged person entered the room and went over to the figure by the console.

“You called for me sir?” He said in a strange metallic voice.

“Yes I did. Sonaris has betrayed our cause and now he needs to be destroyed as well as the failure. As well you need to take over his mission and terraform the surface. Understood?” The figure said sternly.

“Yes sir, I will not fail you!”

“You had better not!” With that the figure left abruptly leaving the other one mumbling with one eye closed, the large red robotic eye’s shutter closing slowly.

By the time the trio had finally returned within the city limits it was late in the morning, and they were all thoroughly exhausted, Sonaris wasn’t fairing so well because of the fact he was missing a portion of his head, Airaxen was doing alright, found all of it good exercise, and Tikai was asleep being carried by Airaxen, who was unwilling to do so to say the least. Sonaris ran ahead up to a hill and looked towards downtown where the tower was.

“Hm...There seem to be many police officers stationed around there, I would assume they’re inspecting your little hideout,” Sonaris said this with a little bit of interest. Airaxen’s eyes went wide and he dashed up to the hill, dropping Tikai as he went.

“Ugh...That’s not my favorite way of waking up,” she said groggily. Tikai opened her eyes slowly and looked up at Sonaris and Airaxen.

“Feh! How can you see that far Sonaris?! It‘s got to be at least 50 miles!” Airaxen asked in amazement, straining to try and see that far.

“Having this sort of eyesight serves very useful for battle situations.” Tikai went over to them and took in the surroundings.

“Finally, back home...sorta.”

“Yes well I would have to say it’s a good 40 minutes of walking until we get to any residential area,” Sonaris said quietly.

“Marvelous. Oh yeah, Tikai I’m not carrying you again,” Airaxen said with a disgruntled undertone.

“Fine, fine, I’m rested up anyway,” Tikai answered. They started on their journey again in a pleasant silence. A minute or so later Tikai let out a quiet “hm”.

“Yes?” Sonaris asked.

“Well, since you were the bad guy around here Sonaris, what happens now?”

“I really don’t know myself.” Airaxen blinked a few times and started thinking to himself.

<Hm, I have a feeling that my job isn’t over just yet. There’s still a few loose ends, like that bizarre shadow creature that keeps appearing. That reminds me!> Airaxen reached into his pocket and pulled out the two disks he was given aboard the space colony.

“Hey, what are those?” Tikai pointed at the red and black round disks in Airaxen’s hand.

“Oh these? A few disks I was given from that shadow creature, remember it?” One of Sonaris’s eyebrows raised as this too caught his attention.

“Do you know what’s on them?” Asked Sonaris intrigued.

“Well, I was told that the answers I seek would be answered, so I’m assuming that details of my past are on this.”

“Err-wasn’t my description good enough for you?” Sonaris said a tad worried.

“Well it was ok, but not great. I have a big gap that apparently spans for 7 years and I want to know every little detail of what went on during that time,” Sonaris looked away while Airaxen continued to talk with Tikai.

<I don’t think Airaxen should know about his past just yet, he might not be prepared for the fact he’s murdered about 5 million people in a day. Airaxen is most likely unstable from all these ordeals, finding out all of his past would push him over the edge! Right, when the opportunity arrives I will have to destroy those disks. > Sonaris stopped walking for a moment and started to think again.

“Eh? What is it Sonaris?” Airaxen turned around to see why he had stopped.

“Well, why are we going back into town if your lab has been overrun by the authorities? It would be a bad idea to go up there and say hello.”

“So what do you say we do?” Asked Tikai.

“We need to find a new location for a base, I recommend my laboratory. It’s a tad damaged but it does have plenty of space and resources.”

“Is it close by?” Asked Tikai, not used to wearing the heavy armor for so long.

“I have an alternate entrance in this general area to get in.”

“Well, might as well. Couldn’t hurt,” Airaxen gave a shrug and followed Sonaris and Tikai as they headed back the way they came. Silence followed this, a peaceful silence which was very much welcomed to all of them. But the tranquility of the moment was soon shattered by what seemed like flapping wings. They all stopped walking and started to scan the skies for the source of the sound. Then Sonaris saw it in the distance. The figure stopped a few meters away from them hovering. The figure was at least 7 feet tall, and very thin. It’s limbs were about as thick as the tubing used in plumbing used in homes, with a body to match. It’s head was triangular with the pointed end facing forwards, two red horns on the ends. Instead of eyes it had a single strip of a red stripe of glass like substance. In the center of it’s chest was an octagon shaped jewel with 4 small holes at the top and sides of the jewel. But the most noticeable feature were the two massive sets of silver bat-like wings sticking out of the creature’s back.

“What the heck are you?” Tikai demanded. The creature chuckled darkly, then spoke in a dark and foreboding voice, “I am your executioner, I am the apocalypse, I am Omega.” Airaxen snorted at Omega’s response and took a step forward.

“Real nice intro there Omega, but if you’re trying to scare us, it’s not working,” he said defiantly.

“You’re confident now Airaxen, but you won’t be after I’m through with you.”

“Eh? How did you know my name?” Omega chuckled again.

“Now if I didn’t know at least your name, how would I be able to destroy you?” He chuckled again, then moved his hand forward a small cylindrical device in his hand, which resembled a handle to a weapon. Airaxen formed his arm cannon and began to charge it, Tikai assumed a fighter’s stance while Sonaris drew his two swords. Suddenly a green beam shot out of Omega’s device, but stopped moving after a meter with the beam stilling in place as the blade to his beam saber. He flapped his great wings once then charged straight at the three. Tikai fired off multiple blue beams at Omega, Airaxen fired off a large orange laser at him, Omega simply spun his saber around rapidly creating a shield and deflected all of the attacks away from him. The two leapt apart letting Omega fly between them, he flew up and arched into the air. Tikai and Airaxen fired up at the silvery demon, but again any shot was deflected away. Sonaris watched the fight very carefully, then twirled the sword in his right hand and flung it like a javelin at Omega. The sword flew at him from the side, and since he was too busy toying with the duo on the ground didn’t have time to avoid Sonaris’s attack. The sword flew threw straight through his left wing and shattered it instantly. Omega, now unable to fly began to plummet to the ground and now was trying to advert a crash landing. Airaxen pointed his cannon at him, took aim, and fired an orange beam at Omega which exploded on contact. After the smoke cleared Omega was no where to be seen.

“Hm, that was a lot easier then I thought,” Tikai commented smugly.

“Yes...A bit too easy if you ask me...” Sonaris lowered his head for a moment in thought. Airaxen crossed his arms.

“You’re right, but what worries me more is where did Omega come from?” Sonaris shrugged.

“Hey...” Sonaris and Airaxen perked up at Tikai’s tone of voice, “what if, the, what are they called...Myreisons, yeah that’s it, what if they sent a new guy to do Sonaris’s mission?”

“Hm...It’s a possibility, but I don’t think they would’ve been able to know about my...betrayal,” Airaxen shrugged slightly.

“Lets just hope that was just a freak coincidence. I’ve had it up too here with all of these big battles.” Sonaris coughed slightly at this comment.

“Alright then, I say we head to my base now,” Sonaris began walking again, Tikai and Airaxen walking by him.

The gem like feature of Omega’s chest bounced on the ground and rolled along a bit before stopping next to a tree. It glowed momentarily then released a silvery material that oozed around the gem and engulfed it and then reformed to create Omega.

“Hm, I may not be much now...But each time you defeat me I become stronger...” Omega lifted his arm up, the schematic of Airaxen’s weapon forming on it, two beam sabers coming out of his free hand.

Sonaris kicked a large piece of scrap metal away while stepping over the decimated entrance to his mountain laboratory.

“Hmph, just had to totally trash my lab,” Airaxen chuckled and shrugged back at Sonaris who was ruffled at this discovery. The trio continued to walk deeper into the lab, Sonaris frowning more and more at the sight of the damages to his lab. When they came across the large circular room in which Airaxen battled the many little servants of Sonaris. Tikai stood in the center of the room, then looked up at the ceiling which had an enormous hole in it which let in the sunlight.

“You just had to decimate my lab didn’t you?” Sonaris grumbled, Airaxen looked away.

“Hey Sonaris, you got anything to eat in this place?” Asked Tikai.

“Not that I know of, no.”

“Aw man, I haven’t eaten in hours, are you sure you got nothing in this place?” Airaxen sighed and shook his head.

“Alright, I’ll go into town and pick up something to eat, sides I wouldn’t mind something to eat myself.”

“In that case go down the hall and take second door on the left, it’s a quick route to get downtown.” Sonaris pointed down the mentioned hallway. Airaxen walked out of sight leaving Sonaris and Tikai alone.

“I guess that you want this combat armor back, eh?” Said Tikai trying to make conversation.

“No, I think it’s better in your hands then it is in mine. Besides you seem to insist in being in the line of fire.”

“Hey thanks, that’s cool...Wait are you trying to make up for being such a jerk?”

“Err...Yes.” Sonaris spun around quickly and headed off down another hallway.

“Eh? Where are you going off too?”

“Going to get repaired, you know I got a piece of my head missing still.” He pointed at the corner of his head that was blasted off thanks to Tikai. Sonaris reentered the room about 10 minutes later, head fully restored.

“Ahhh, It’s good to see out of both eyes again, I even have my depth perception back!” Tikai feverishly smiled at Sonaris.

“That’s...wonderful...I think.” After Sonaris finished checking that everything worked properly he turned to look at Tikai.

“Well then, what happens now?” He asked.

“I think I should meet up with my parents in Hawaii, I was supposed to have gone there about a month ago but you know, all of those attacks have made most pilots paranoid or something.” Tikai mumbled something under her breath, but Sonaris did catch the word “pansy”.

“Hm, well this is quite an awkward situation if I must say so myself,” Sonaris said quietly.

“True, you did threaten to kill me and hold me captive for about 13 hours.”

“Eh, yes...thanks for reminding me. Well what’s strange to me is why you’re so kind to me.”

“Air seems to trust you, and well...I trust his judgment and if he believes that you’re trustworthy then I’ll give you another chance.” Sonaris bowed his head at her, Tikai raised an eyebrow rather confused.

“A gesture of respect.”

“Oh, well ok then.” Tikai blinked slightly surprised. At that moment Airaxen returned from going into town carrying a bag full of burgers and fries.

“FOOD!” Shouted Tikai, Airaxen blinked confused then was tackled to the ground by Tikai. She grabbed the bag from him and left him on the ground dazed.

“You’re welcome...” He said weakly. Airaxen sat up rubbing his head muttering to himself.

“So what were you guys up too before I got tackled by a linebacker?” Tikai glared at him at the comment.

“Well, we were discussing what to do now,” answered Sonaris.

“And what did you guys come up with?”

“Well...Going to Hawaii is about all,” Sonaris said while scratching his chin.

“Don’t you start up with me too Sonaris!” He blinked confusedly at Airaxen. Tikai then walked back over to join the conversation.

“Eh, Tikai did you eat all of the food?” Airaxen asked annoyed.

“Yes, well what do you expect? Last time I had something to eat was before Sonaris grabbed me and that was a bowl of stall cereal.”

“...Oh you’re real lady-like there Tikai.”

“Don’t get smart with me!” Tikai said annoyed.

“Oh yeah?” Challenged Airaxen.

“Err,” Sonaris stepped between the two and separated them. “Maybe we should find a new subject here,” he suggested quickly.

“Out of the way!” The two said in unison, then they shoved Sonaris to the side so they could argue closer up, leaving Sonaris to sit on the sidelines watching.

Omega hovered down the streets of Shadowlight City, peering from side to side.

“Hmph, where is...” But before he could finish a cloaked figure walked up to him.

“You were about to call?” He said quietly.

“Ah yes, there you are Dimitri. Well I think I’m being to settle in my mission.”

“Oh? How so?” Dimitri looked at him intrigued with his robotic eye.

“Well I don’t think I should be wasting my time with Airaxen, I want to start terraforming the planet and if he gets in my way so be it.”

“I see, you want too get this over with quickly...Well then I have a few little toys for you then, follow me.” Dimitri spun around and headed towards a large warehouse. Dimitri walked into the warehouse which resembled a factory. Omega looked around eagerly wanting to see the sort of weapons that Dimitri had to offer him.

“So, what do you got? A big mecha with lasers out the ying yang? Huh? What?” He said while flying around the factory.

“Well...Just this...” Dimitri snapped his fingers activating a crane over head to lower a box next to Dimitri. He opened the box which revealed a much smaller version of the rocket mecha that gave chase to Airaxen in space.

“...Not to sound rude but...That’s it?” Omega lowered his head in disappointment.

“This might just be a smaller version of the rocket mecha that Sonaris built, but I took the design and modified it...” Omega’s head perked up and he looked over at Dimitri.

“Faster, stronger, the weapons system charges much quicker-” Omega frowned in disapproval, then his arm’s silvery metallic cover melted off and slid up his arm revealing a metal skeleton-like arm which immediately began to shift and slide to form a small cannon barrel with little metal needles circling the barrel. A small orange orb then formed inside the barrel Omega pointed it at the robot and fired the orb instantly blasting it apart.

“Hmph, you’re losing your touch Dimitri!” Dimitri just chuckled to himself then pointed to the wreckage of the robot.

“Watch.” The pieces started to move on their own. They then clustered together and rebuilt to form two of the mechas.

“Destroy one and two take it’s place. You see, the only way to destroy them for good is to totally wipe out each of the parts. Now was this what you were thinking about?”

“Oh yeah.”

“Good, then let me continue telling you what I’ve done to these, then you can go have your fun.”

Sonaris sat over a workbench welder in hand, a few random parts, and Tikai’s armor on the bench. Airaxen entered the room and pulled up a seat next to Sonaris.

“What are you up too?” Airaxen asked.

“I’m giving this armor a flight upgrade,” he muttered while sending a blaze of sparks flying all over the desk.

“Oh yes, what is that girl’s name? I never did catch it,” he said while welding some more.

“Her name is Tikai.”

“Alright, thanks. Mind telling me a bit about her? I like to know things about the people I hang out with,” Airaxen tilted his head slightly and put a hand to his chin.

“Hm, well...I first met her when I fell from a tree, don’t ask, she was rather nice about it. Wait I’m going off topic ok let me think. She’s kind, caring, hot headed, stubborn, overreacts sometimes but generally a good person. Hm...I’ve known her for little over a month, found that she’s a very courageous person, doesn’t care about what happens to her life just does what’s right,” Airaxen finished his description right when Sonaris had finished with his work.

“Well, that was...informative I think. Well I’m going to give this to Tikai now, oh yes I would recommend not growing to attached to her in your line of work,” Sonaris walked away silently, leaving a confused Airaxen to think over what he said.

It was mid-afternoon in Calgary, nothing to much was happening most were still at work eager to leave. The people walking down the streets were all going through their mundane tasks after the recent attack from the 3 machine golems attacking the city. But then two small grey, one eyed robots walked down the street, their arms floating by their side. The robots were thin and about 5 feet tall, they didn’t look very threatening at first glance thou. They stopped at the corner of a street and looked at each other then nodded. They both raised a hand up and pointed each at a building. A large white orb formed in each hand, then launched itself at the buildings blasting apart a floor to each of them, causing the tops of the buildings to topple over and smash into the ground killing dozens of people. Total hysteria broke out, people were screaming and running in all directions. Cars were all trying to escape from the destructive duo, but in the end most smashed into each other and the drivers were forced to run for their lives. They continued to fire off energy orbs and decimated the structures in sight. Soon the police arrived on the scene, all of them wearing protective body armor, and carrying high-tech laser weaponry, well high-tech in their standards.

“Alright men! Open fire!” Shouted the captain. A flurry of red beams shot at the two robots, they pummeled them and blasted them to pieces. They all cheered, but their celebrations were premature, at that instant the debris of the robots shifted and reassembled themselves to form 4 of the robots. The captain went wide-eyed, and opened ordered them to open fire again. And again they were shot apart and reduced to rubble. And again they rebuilt themselves to form 8, they were destroyed again and then there were 16, then 32 of them surrounded the authorities. They tried to destroy them again, but this time the machines reacted before they could and unleashed a barrage of orbs at them which instantly killed the men. The robots all turned to face north and marched down the street destroying all in their sight.

* * *

“Hey thanks Sonaris, this is real cool,” Tikai happily slipped on her armor then looked behind her to notice two small boxes behind each shoulder.

“What do these things do?”

“They’re anti-gravitational units, so as you can fly, it might take you some time to get used to it but you’ll get the hang of it. As well they can move up along your shoulder covers to point forward and be used as weapons, they fire out a 200 small lasers every minute, and they don’t have an limit to their ammunition which is very useful.”

“Heeeey, this is real nice, I’m going to enjoy myself now,” Sonaris smiled, then took a seat in a chair across the room from Tikai.

“Tell me, what do you think of me?” Sonaris asked in a slightly timid voice.

“Well, you’re not too bad I suppose, you did give me this nice new toy after all, but then there’s the whole wanting to kill me thing. But yeah, if Air says you’re ok, I’ll trust his opinion.”

“Hm, why do you trust his opinion so much anyway? How do you know if I don’t kill you right now?”

“First off if you did Air would snap and kill you, he told me about that moment in the mountains...Heh...” Tikai looked away from Sonaris.

“Eh? What is it?”

“It’s nothing really it isn’t...” Tikai looked away slightly embarrassed.

“Are you sure?”

“Well, after you had gotten blasted apart by Air, I collapsed and he carried me to a cave and watched over me during the night, when I woke up he gave me a hug, I found that really sweet of him. Mind you after that he really spazzed out at me, but still,” Sonaris raised an eyebrow at Tikai, then tilted his head slightly.

“I’m going to tell you the same thing I told Airaxen, don’t grow to attached to him in his line of work,” before Tikai could respond Airaxen ran into the room, fully suited up.

“We got a job to do people!” Airaxen dashed out of the room closely followed by Sonaris, Tikai stood there for a moment then ran after them.

* * *

Airaxen, Sonaris and Tikai arrived at what could only be described as a war-zone. Buildings were nothing but rubble, large pieces of rocks and twisted metal were lying around everywhere.

“Oh my god...” Tikai couldn’t believe the amount of destruction caused to the city. Among the rubble there were what she swore were limbs sticking out of the rocks, but she couldn’t tell.

“What could have done all this?” Even Sonaris was shocked at the sight. “Even when I was destroying all in my sight, I never would’ve thought I could do something like this...”

“Hurry, we have to stop whoever is doing this,” Airaxen said with a grim determination in his voice. They walked through the devastation looking for it’s source, to no avail. Suddenly in the distance a loud explosion could be heard, the three spun to their rights and saw a tall skyscraper begin to collapse and fall in their direction. They all took to the air and flew to the side avoiding the massive falling structure. The skyscraper fell to the ground smashing apart and causing a large cloud of dust to rise.

“Here they come!” Shouted Tikai. Sonaris began to charge his wolf-like arm cannon, illuminating the area around him in a soft blue. Tikai pointed both of her gauntlets at the dust cloud waiting for any signs of threat, the barrels of her weapons glowing slightly. Airaxen’s arm cannon formed from the green grid schematic, and once it was ready he placed all of the crystals around the weapon causing it to emit a strange aura. The dust cloud soon dissipated an army of small grey one eyed robots marched along the ground.

“Take them out!” Airaxen roared. Sonaris unleashed a massive blue beam into the cluster which instantly blasted 10 of them into shrapnel. Tikai began firing off a barrage of beams into crowd demolishing the automations one by one. Airaxen pointed his weapon into the center of the remaining robots and unleashed a massive white orb down at them that reduced the remaining robots into small pieces of shrapnel.

“Hmph, that was a lot easier then I thought,” muttered Sonaris. But true to form, each and every piece of the robots began to move on their own accord, in seconds double the amount of them stood ready to attack.

“...That isn't good...” Airaxen muttered dismally. They attacked them again, and once more they were destroyed, and once more they rebuilt themselves to double their numbers. This time it was the robot’s turn to attack. They all spun their arms around a few times then sent a barrage of fists flying up at the trio. Before they could react the attack had already flew close enough to be unavoidable, they were all knocked out of the air, Sonaris landing on the roof of a still intact building, Airaxen smashed in to a pile of rubble, Tikai landed on the ground roughly, the impact winding her. As they all recovered from the attacks an ominous chuckling echoed throughout the area.

“You three are very amusing to watch. Trying to destroy my men, ha!” A metallic voice said loudly.

“Uhhhh...That voice sounds familiar,” Airaxen mumbled. “Wait...I think I recognize it...”

“Hmph, I’m insulted you don’t remember me? Omega? How rude!” Mocked Omega. They all looked up at the sky, there was the silver beast flapping his large wings.

“I thought you were destroyed,” Tikai said through gritted teeth.

“You can’t get rid of me that easily, now mechas restrain them, except for Airaxen.” The mass of robots moved in on Sonaris and Tikai and grabbed them by the arms holding them in place while others would surround them to form a ring. Omega lowered down to land in front of Airaxen.

“Airaxen, I challenge you to a duel, we shall fight right here and now to the death,” Omega took out both of his beam sabers and turned them on, the green light of the beams giving Omega’s face an eerie glow. Airaxen stood up and stared down Omega.

“Alright, challenge accepted.” Omega’s face shifted slightly to look like he was smiling, then he tossed Airaxen one of his beam sabers. Airaxen caught it and twirled it around once and assumed a fighter’s stance. After an agonizing moment of silence the two dashed straight at each other, Airaxen slashed downwards, Omega put his saber horizontal and parried the move. They broke apart, then Omega flew up and dived straight down at Airaxen. Airaxen leapt back a slight bit then crouched down and jumped up at Omega, his beam saber sticking out the side to strike him. Omega tried to stop himself, but Airaxen swung his saber striking him in the wing leaving a large gash in it. Omega tumbled back onto the ground, but regained his form quickly.

“Now I’m annoyed,” Omega growled. He charged at Airaxen and slashed at him, but the move was stopped. They broke apart and continued their attacks. Each motion was fluid and graceful, the two were both evenly matched. One would gain some ground, but the other would catch up with them. After 10 minutes of this the two then leapt away from each other, Omega was showing no sign of fatigue where as Airaxen was having difficulty keeping his weapon up.

“You’re not holding up so well there Airaxen, do you need to take a breather old man?” Omega laughed at him, Airaxen straightened up and glared at Omega.

“Not a chance.” Omega leapt up into the air, Airaxen leapt up at him. They both flew at each other, then each slashed at the other and landed on the ground briskly. Omega stood up and turned to face Airaxen, his face resembling that of a smirk, but suddenly his sword arm suddenly began to spark violently and then began to fall apart. Airaxen stood up, but before he could turn around his mid-section began to spark violently then a thin diagonal appeared running from his waist up to the middle of the other side of his body. The two halves slowly began to slide apart from each other. Sonaris closed his eyes and looked away from the scene, Tikai tried to break free from the robots, but it was no use. Omega pointed his right arm at Airaxen, the silvery substance around the metallic skeleton-like arm slid up his arm and revealed the machinery, which began to shift and transform into his arm cannon. A bright orange orb began to form between the needles.

“Game over,” Omega said quietly, then fired the orb at Airaxen. The attack collided with him creating a massive explosion that shook the ground around them, as well as blasting a large crater into the ground. Soon small pieces of rock, shrapnel, little pieces of blue vines, and large chunks of a red suit of armor. Omega’s beam saber turned off, then turned to look at the robots holding Tikai and Sonaris.

“Now was that so hard Sonaris?” Omega said cockily. Tikai was enraged to the point of snapping. She broke free of the grips of the two robots holding onto her and flew straight up and charged at Omega. But before she was able to get to him a set of arms flew up and grabbed her then threw her at the ground. Again she was winded from her landing. Sonaris had, had enough and broke free from his restraints and went over to Tikai, helping her back up.

“I swear I’ll kill you! Even if it’s the last thing I do!” She screamed. Omega chuckled darkly.

“You pesky humans will soon be exterminated like the vermin that you are. The day of judgment is upon you and I will be your judge. Now my minions! Kill them all!” Omega pointed an open hand at Tikai and Sonaris, the army of robots converging on them while Omega laughed manically all the time.
