Wandering in the Dark
By Benxiao Ma
Chapter 3: Find the
Crystals!
“Air...”
“Yes Tikai?”
“I’m getting really hungry.”
“So?”
“I think I’m going to pass out if I don’t
eat soon. I didn’t have anything for the last 42 hours!”
“I’m sorry but, we still have to go another
100 kilometres.”
“Well please! I’m feeling faint.”
“You should think of something else.”
“I can’t, it really hurts”
“Alright, I’ll try and make some ideal
chitchat and try to move faster.” Airaxen was exhausted, but wasn’t
going to show signs of weakening, couldn’t get Tikai protesting for
him to rest. So he painfully started to run.
“Well, umm...what were you going to do
before you got dragged into this?” Airaxen asked.
“Was going to go into acting on stage.”
“Aye, that’s admirable.”
“Now, I think I’ll be in the superhero
department, like you.”
“Heh, I’m not a superhero, just doing what
would come naturally to anyone.”
“I don’t know many people willing to fight
a robot that could blast them into a million pieces.”
“I see your point there, but I’m still no
superhero.”
“Course you are! You save lots of lives,
fight the bad guys and probably even help little old ladies down
across the street.”
“...”
“Ok, you probably don’t help little old
ladies across the street.”
“I don’t.” Before more could be said the
sound of clattering metal echoed.
“Air, you ok?”
“Fine.”
“Then what’s that noise?”
“Just my legs slightly fatigued.”
“That doesn’t sound slightly fatigued, that
sounds really fatigued. It sounds like you’re legs are just about to
snap off!”
“Don’t worry about me, you’re the one that
is about to pass out.”
“So? I can hold out for a few minutes.”
“No, don’t worry I can make it. No enough
of this nonsense! I’m a perfectly capable person, so pipe down and
let me try and get you to a hospital or something.”
“Geez, I was only concerned, I’m sorry I
was.” An awkward silence followed soon after. Airaxen looked over at
her, then back forward.
“I’m sorry.” He muttered.
“Huh?”
“I’m sorry for snapping at you, I’m just
not used to having people caring about me. I find it rather
annoying.”
“Oh, well I’m sorry. That’s just how I am.”
More silence, only sound was the crunching of snow, and clanking of
metal. Then something appeared on the horizon, it appeared to be a
hanger, even better it could be an airport!
“Ha! This could be just what we needed!”
Airaxen start to run faster, and soon was banging on the door of the
hanger. Soon a rather tall and brisk looking man answered, but he
answered in Russian.
“Ack, sir can you speak English?” He nodded
and with a heavy accent responded, “yes.”
“I need your help my friend here, she’s
been injured and needs to be treated.” He looked at Tikai, then
motioned for them to come in.
A few minutes later Tikai was bundled up in
blankets, being given a mug of hot chocolate.
“You are tough girl, brave like lion,
strength of one too.” The man commented.
“Thanks, have to be these days.” Tikai
drank her hot chocolate, while Airaxen was off in a different room,
with a few borrowed tools.
“So what’s your name?”
“Name is Yuri.”
“Nice to meet you Yuri, I’m Tikai.”
“What happen to your friend?”
“He’s...fixing a few things.”
“Like what? You brought no machines with
you.”
“Oh well it’s a small machine.” At this
Airaxen reentered the room. Once placing them back, he turned to
Yuri,
“Thank you for all your help, my name is
Airaxen by the way.”
“I am Yuri, nice to meet you. Tell me, how
is it you aren’t sick from walking in icy wind?”
“Luck? Who knows.”
“You must be very lucky people.”
“Yuri, I noticed the plane you have here,
tell me how far do you go in this?”
“I go as far as you like, you just pay me
more father you go.”
“So would you be willing to fly us to Mt
Everest?”
“Hmm...Why you need go there?”
“I have to find something there, well will
you be able to take us there?”
“Yes, but you pay first.”
“Alright, it’s only fair.” Tikai then
grabbed Airaxen, and dragged him away.
“Air, where are you going to get that sort
of money?”
“Don’t worry I have something to pay with.”
He walked back to Yuri, then motioned for him to lean forward. A
second later Yuri was jumping up and down in joy, and ran off to
suit up for his flight.
“Air...What did you give him?”
“I sold him the St Basil's Cathedral.”
“But you don’t own it!”
“Don’t tell him that.”
“Air! That’s wrong!”
“I know, and I’m afraid that I must do
this, so we can continue searching. Time is of the essence.”
* * *
After 6 hours they were landing, in a small
village.
“Been fun doing business with you!” Yuri
shouted, then he left into the distance.
“Nice person, I just hope he doesn’t get
too mad that he didn’t really buy that cathedral...” Airaxen soon
started running off, Tikai followed, just barely. When he reached
the base he started to leap onto the ledges, climbing higher and
higher.
“Air! I can’t do that!”
“Then you stay there!” Despite Tikai’s
protests Airaxen continued on. It was about 3 hours in when Airaxen
stopped, and took a look at where he was. only a quarter the ways
up, and his rockets were still frozen. He sat down and looked up.
<Pffff, this seemed a lot easier in my mind
then it really is.> He slowly got up. But out of no where a missile
flew at Airaxen, and blasted him off the ledge. If nothing but pure
luck he landed on cliff a few feet below.
“Ack! Who’s there?”
“No one in particular, just me Sonaris.”
“You, again? I thought you would’ve died on
your way back.” Airaxen drew his sword and started searching for
where Sonaris was.
“Come on out Sonaris, and fight like a
man!”
“As you wish!” Sonaris was hovering behind
Airaxen the entire time, then lunged at him both swords out. With
split second timing Airaxen ducked underneath his attack, then spun
around cutting into Sonaris’ left leg. He let out a cry of pain,
Airaxen leapt away from him preparing for another attack. Sonaris
connected both his swords together by the hilts, forming a dual
sword. He then dashed at Airaxen, full force. Sonaris brought his
sword straight down at him, Airaxen swung his sword to become
perpendicular with Sonaris’ blade. When the two hit, a shower of
sparks went everywhere, followed by an earth shattering clash, which
cracked the nearby rocks. The two stood in place, then Airaxen
jumped up and kicked Sonaris in the stomach causing him to stumble
back. Airaxen dashed at Sonaris, sword raised. Sonaris was fed up
with the duel and began to charge his arm cannon. At the last second
he fired a blue beam into Airaxen’s face, blasting him off the edge
of the cliff. Sonaris placed both his swords away, then started
progressing up Everest. Airaxen smashed into many rock ledges, on
the wall down. But was lucky enough to have grabbed onto a ledge,
stopping him. He slowly pulled himself up and looked up, spotting
Sonaris way up ahead of him. Airaxen armed his cannon and fired
beams up and him, but they all missed, only annoying him. Sonaris
responded with breaking a boulder lose, letting it crash down.
Airaxen looked to the side, then leaped towards a ledge, but the
beam he took to the face damaged his judging of distance; so instead
of making it, overshot it and flew off the mountainside.
“ACK!” Airaxen hit the side of the
mountain, then fell off, tumbling to the ground again. Sonaris
smirked and snickered, then continued climbing up.
* * *
Tikai was pacing around waiting for Airaxen
to come down. But the loud clang, and all that tumbling debris was
really not encouraging.
“Come on Air, tell me all that noise was
just you being clumsy.” Then a distant yelling in the distance
perked Tikai‘s head up. Airaxen fell right out of the sky and
smashed into the ground, creating a small crater at the same time.
“Air!” Tikai ran over and lifted him out of
the crater, and gave him the once over. He was literally falling
apart, head armor tattered, covered in cracks.
“Air! Air! Are you ok?”
“Damaged, but there’s more. Sonaris...he’s
up there, almost has that next crystal.”
“Don’t speak, save your strength. You’re
really badly damaged.”
“No, I have to...uhh...” Airaxen finally
gave out, he was too weakened from all that damage. Tikai struggled,
but started to drag him along the pathway back to the village they
had come across.
* * *
Sonaris could already see the summit, now
it was just an arm’s throw away. And on top of the summit was the
price he was after. A soft green glow was covering the area in the
last meter or so. With one final leap he snatched the crystal from
where it rested.
“Alright! One more crystal retrieved, and
this one shall stay mine! But first...” He turned on his rockets and
hovered around at that level, looking down.
“Hmmm...He’s down there somewhere...just
have to fine tone my eyesight a bit more...Ah-ha, there we go.” He
had spotted Tikai dragging Airaxen on the ground, and was meaning to
pay him back for that near death experience. He placed the green
crystal into his hand then pointed it downwards. His palm then
started to glow an eerie green, with a small ball of wind forming in
the center.
* * *
“Man Air, you aren’t exactly light on your
feet.” She continued dragging him by the arm, slowly but surely
making progress. Then a slight whistling filled her ears, it was
slowly becoming louder...and louder... Tikai looked straight up, and
let out a cry. She was staring straight up the center of a twister.
Tikai tried to get away, but no such luck, the twister touched down,
and hurtled them into different directions. Tikai was flung to the
side, and knocked into a few rocks, Airaxen on the other hand was
hurtled into straight at Everest, and shattered into pieces on
contact with the mountain wall. Luckily the twister had already
left, how is scientifically impossible. Sonaris smirked again, then
left. Glad he had to his knowledge destroyed Airaxen. Sonaris then
flew off. Tikai rubbed her head and sat up. Then she realized; what
had happened to Airaxen? She looked around franticly then, saw him,
a few meters away, there he lay literally shattered; only the upper
body was close to being intact. She dashed over and tried to lift
him up, more body armor fell off with a few of those blue vines
snapping off. Tikai was mortified, Sonaris had finally done it, he
had finally killed Airaxen.
“Come on Air...you can’t die yet, the bad
guy isn’t supposed to win.” Silence.
“Come on! Wake up or something!” More
silence. But then a few sparks shot out of Airaxen’s chest, then a
few more. Shortly after the sound of very stressed machinery filled
the air.
“I’m...not...finished...yet...” The words
were hoarse, harsh sounding, but it was a good sign. Tikai let out a
sigh of relief, then smiled.
“Good thing you’re still alive.”
“Yes...we...must get back...to...the lab.”
“How? We have no transportation, you’re
barely more then a corpse, and we’re broke!”
“...”
“Air?”
“...”
“Don’t tell me you’re dead now!...Air?”
“...”
“Wake up!...Please?...Air?” As Tikai tried
to revive Airaxen, a shadow emerged from the mountain wall, then
bent over and grabbed two crystals from the pile of wreckage.
“Good, two crystals are in my possession,
if I’m lucky I can get the other 4 before someone else does.” The
shadow then tilted it’s head at the piles of machinery and circuitry
around him. He then turned his head to the right looking at Tikai.
<That girl again, and it appears this time
her friend is in need of assistance.> The shadow sank into the
ground, then moved towards the two. Tikai spotted it moving towards
them, and grabbed a sharp piece of metal and stepped back.
“Oh, what do you want?! This day has been
bad enough already! Just go away!” Once turning back into a more
solid form, he turned to look at the severely damaged Airaxen.
“Hmmm...” He extended a claw, then opened
it producing the red crystal. “My, my, you two seem to have a knack
for getting into trouble.” He then muttered something, before
dropping the crystal on the ground next to Airaxen. The second the
crystal hit the ground a pillar of blue fire erupted from underneath
Airaxen. Tikai turned at the shadow with a menacing glare,
“Stop right now! Or else...”
“Or else?”
“I...err...um...” But she never got to
finish her thought, the pillar of fire dissipated, in it’s place was
Airaxen, fully repaired.
“You, you were...?”
“Trying to help? Yes.”
“Sorry, I thought you were.”
“Here to finish the job?”
“Yeah.”
“He’s still out cold, but now at least
he’ll be ready for what lays ahead.”
“Huh? What do you.” Too late, the shadow
had sunk into the ground and left. Tikai let out a sigh, then
grabbed one of Airaxen’s arms and went back to dragging him to the
village, 10 miles away.
* * *
“Uhhhh....Where am I? What happened-OW!”
Airaxen’s head had just hit a sharp rock, jolting him out of his
paralysis.
“It’s about time you woke up! You aren’t
exactly light.”
“Well can you stop, ow, dragging me?” Tikai
let go of him, then looked at Airaxen.
“Air, I have some bad news.”
“And what would that be?” Airaxen raised an
eyebrow at her, while sitting up.
“The two crystals we got...that shadow
thing came and took them...” His left eye started to twitch again.
“What...WHAT HAPPENED?!”
“err...that shadow came and took the two
crystals...” Tikai started to look afraid, reason being Airaxen
looked like he was about to explode, his face was severely
contorted, the twitching getting more severe. Then when Tikai was
positive he was about to start yelling and screaming, his face
suddenly relaxed.
“It’s...alright, better then Sonaris having
them. I think.”
“Huh? You’re not mad?”
“No, besides there’s still 4 more crystals
out there. Now where’s the scanner...”
“Uhh, Air that’s the rest of the bad news.”
Tikai took out a very crushed and tattered device, which was the
scanner.
“I found this along the way, I think it was
caught in that twister, then must have busted on contact with the
ground.”
“That’s not a good thing. Now how are we
supposed to find the rest of the-eh?” Airaxen then placed a hand to
his temple, and closed his right eye.
“What is it?”
“I don’t know...just have this sudden urge
to go somewhere...”
“Where would that be?”
“I think...I think it’s...China.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know, just have an urge to go
there. Come on.” He then grabbed Tikai by the arm and started to
dash off, dragging Tikai along, as she protested saying she felt
like a rag doll.
* * *
Soon after leaving the plane they took over
to Beijing, Airaxen was back to dragging Tikai around the city. They
barged through crowds of people, which were about everywhere at
night in the massive city.
“Air...AIR!”
“What is it?”
“Will you stop for a second?!”
“...Nope.” Soon Airaxen had started to slow
down near a crowd of people, all of which were slowly entering a
large gate. Airaxen stood there, studying the red walls, then
started to head in.
“Where did you drag me off to now?”
“If I’m right, this is...the Forbidden
City.”
“You mean the Emperor’s place back in
ancient times?”
“Yes, the Emperors of China would live
here, and keep some of the most precious treasures in here. If I’m
right, I heard a rumor that the City had secret chambers which
contained the most precious treasures.”
“Hey...maybe one of the crystals is here.”
“My thoughts exactly...” Once passing
through the gates, Airaxen let a low whistle. There was an enormous
stone courtyard leading to the entrance. Along the way was a path
lined with torches along the way. Tikai looked around utterly
stunned herself, simply an amazing sight. They started the slow trek
to the entrance, still admiring the Forbidden City.
* * *
Sonaris was wearing a dark hooded cloak,
cursing slightly under his breath. He continued making his way
around the insides of the Forbidden City, being pushed, crushed, and
whatever by all the people surrounding him. After 30 minutes of
searching the walls, and avoiding the questions of the staff, he
came up with nothing.
<Feh, haven’t found any trace of that
secret chamber, but I can tell the crystal is near, I’ll just keep
on looking.> Sonaris ducked out of sight, and behind to the back
rooms, and began searching them.
Airaxen who had just entered, noticed a
flutter of a cloak as it vanished behind a corner. He narrowed his
eyes slightly, then gave chase. Once turning a corner he dived at
the figure, Airaxen grabbed part of the cloak and tore it off,
revealing Sonaris.
“You know, you’re worse then the plague!”
He sneered at Airaxen.
“Why thank you.” Airaxen replied with
plenty of sarcasm. Sonaris raised his left hand, revealing the green
crystal imbedded in his palm, a small cyclone then shot out, blowing
Airaxen back a few meters. Airaxen leapt to his feet and dashed at
Sonaris, while forming his arm cannon. Sonaris narrowed his eyes,
then raised his own arm cannon, and fired one shot straight down the
barrel of Airaxen’s cannon, causing it to explode. The blast caused
Airaxen to be knocked back once more, during this time Sonaris took
his leave, dashing down the hallway. Airaxen leapt up, then dashed
right after Sonaris.
* * *
“Argh, where did Air go now?! Always
leaving me in the dust, he’s such a brat sometimes.” Tikai ducked
away from the tour group and began wandering the corridors. She then
came across a rather tattered patch of ground, she crouched down,
and looked at it closer, it looked as if they were blasted apart. A
few shattered tiles around the general area.
<Yup, Air was here, and probably Sonaris.
Well time for round two, Air you had better not come back in a
matchbox this time.> Once standing back up she noticed something
near the ceiling, it was what appeared to be a bent dragon’s head.
But what was more bizarre was the fact that it wasn’t damaged from
things such as grave robbers, but was built to be like that. Tikai
then looked in the direction of where it was pointing, straight at a
wall. The wall itself looked normal, except for a small portion that
looked to be a few shades off from the rest of the wall. She moved
closer to it, taking a close look at it. The only visible difference
was just the coloration. When she kept looking around it, she
noticed again near the top another deformed dragon head, this one
pointed in the same direction as the other, but this time down a
different hall.
“Hmm...” Again this head pointed to another
discolored section of wall with a damaged head. She stood back up,
and started to follow the trail.
Airaxen was still chasing after Sonaris,
who was moving his head from side to side, looking at the walls.
Soon he stopped, and skidded around to look at Airaxen.
“You know Airaxen, I don’t remember you
being this annoying!”
“Feh.” Airaxen dashed straight at him,
swinging his fists at his face. Sonaris dodged them easily, then
turned to the side, grabbed Airaxen’s arm and lifted him up, and
flung him into the ground. Sonaris leapt back and down a new
hallway.
“Now...I’m getting annoyed.” Airaxen stood
back up and started the chase once more.
Tikai had been walking aimlessly down
corridor after corridor for the last 10 minutes, now she faced a
dilemma. The last dragon head pointed straight into a wall which
seemed to be perfectly normal, no damaged head, no coloration, no
nothing. Tikai kept trying to find something odd about it, nothing
could be seen from the naked eye, when she tapped on it, it didn’t
give any sort of strange noise. Eventually she gave up, and started
to head back the way she came. But when Tikai passed the last head,
she felt a gentle breeze. This caught her attention, she looked at
the wall, and there was a microscopic little slit in it where some
wind could come out of. She tried to push the wall in, nothing, then
she felt around for a switch now, still nothing. So once again, she
decided to give up, she leaned against the wall and looked up,
looked up at the damaged dragon’s head. This one wasn’t bent...it
was built with a joint... Tikai reached up and grabbed it, and went
to turning it to the left. When the head was back into alignment
with the rest, there was the loud noise of grinding and what seemed
to be chains. After the noise stopped, Tikai pressed against the
wall again, this time the piece of wall slid back with ease, Tikai
kept going until the block of wall stopped in a corner, to the side
was a staircase which led to what seemed to be an underground room.
From curiosity she started to go down the stone stairs, each step
echoing. Soon the way was dark, there were no lights down there, but
she always kept a small flashlight in her pocket, incase of a
blackout or something. Tikai kept going down, very slowly, rather
afraid at what may be lying in the shadows. The air was damp, rather
cold, the farther down she went the stronger the smell of old musty
items became. The stairs stopped, leading to a large room. After
waving the flashlight around there seemed to be nothing in the room,
except for a few cobwebs and mold on the stone walls.
“Ok...” She muttered quietly, “there’s
nothing to be afraid of...just in a pitch black chamber which is
underground, and might not have been entered for hundreds of
years...Nothing to be afraid of...”
Airaxen, who had lost sight of Sonaris,
silently made his way through the hallways. He turned his head from
side to side every 3 seconds. Each corner he turned, he expected to
run into Sonaris, but nothing. After 10 minutes he turned another
corner, sword ready incase Sonaris was there, not this corridor
either.
“Feh, still nothing. Huh?” He looked to his
left, and there was a large portion of the wall missing. he looked
through the missing section, a small hallway with a staircase at the
left end of it. Cautiously he walked towards the staircase, sword
still drawn and at the ready. Airaxen started to head down a dark
stone staircase, each footstep echoing loudly as he went.
Tikai suddenly perked up, there was the
noise of footsteps, someone was coming down the staircase. She
quickly turned off the flashlight, then pressed herself against the
nearest wall. More footsteps, a bit louder this time. Then there was
a loud “ACK!” accompanied by what sounded like a person falling down
the rest of the stairs.
“Owwww...My head...” Airaxen groaned.
“Air?”
“Huh? Tikai? That you?”
“Yeah. You stay there, I’ll turn on my
flashlight.” A quiet click and Tikai’s face was illuminated by a
flashlight beam. She moved it around slightly, and eventually found
Airaxen lying on the ground in a heap, covered with mold which
rubbed off the stone steps.
“Don’t say it.” He muttered. Airaxen stood
up and cleaned himself off, then turned to look at Tikai. “How did
you get here anyway?”
“I was looking around for where you went
after you ditched me, again!”
“Sorry, but I had caught sight of Sonaris.”
“Well it’s ok now. But I think I may have
found where the crystal is, there,” She turned to the side, bringing
the light to the left, illuminating a stone wall which wasn’t
entirely sealed at the top and sides. Airaxen went over and
inspected it.
“Hmm...” He moved his hands up and down the
wall trying to feel for something out of the ordinary. Eventually
his hand moved over a portion of the middle of the wall, then it
sank in, slowly causing the wall to sink into the ground. The two of
them went through the newly opened corridor. As they went farther
down the corridor, skeletons were found littering the ground, they
all looked like they were trying to run from something...
“These skeletons...they’re starting to
worry me...” Tikai went closer to Airaxen, holding onto his arm
tightly.
“I agree...” Airaxen peered from side to
side, inspecting the skeletons. None of them were fully intact, most
of them were snapped in half, or their bones were crushed into dust.
Most of the skeletons were so badly crushed, it was nearly
impossible to tell they were human, but one thing was constant, each
of them were fleeing away from something.
“Air...Maybe we should get out of here...”
“No, we must continue on. Don’t worry, I’ll
be able to handle whatever is in here.” Soon they came to a stop,
there facing them was a large stone door. The door had many strange
designs on carved into it. They looked similar to phoenixes and
dragons, but time had done it’s work, and damaged the carvings. But
there was one carving which was left mostly intact, it appeared to
be some sort of rock formation.
<How strange...> But the thought was
dismissed. Airaxen raised his free arm up, then smashed his fist
into the stone wall. He lowered his arm to his side, the stone wall
seemingly undamaged, then a crack started to form where Airaxen had
hit the wall. The crack very slowly grew larger, then the whole door
began to crumble, and fell to the ground in a cloud of dust. Once
the dust cleared, it revealed an enormous room. The room was
littered with stone pillars which had already fell to the ground and
cobwebs in every direction. The two did the best they could
maneuvering across the damaged floor, using what little light the
flashlight could provide to guide them to what should be the center
of the room. They came to a stop, reason being they were faced with
a large stone wall, the entrance to the next chamber was covered up
in a pile of rock, just leaving the very top of the entrance way
open.
“Hmm...This might be a problem.” Airaxen
put a hand to his chin and paused for a moment. <My cannon has been
destroyed thanks to Sonaris, and a sword is useless. I suppose I’ll
have to move all this rock by hand, oh joy.> “Tikai, mind standing
back while I clear the entrance?”
“Uh, yeah, sure thing.” Tikai stepped a few
meters away, knowing Airaxen’s talent at overdoing things. Airaxen
lifted up a large slab of rock, then flung it to the side, and
grabbed another, and flung it to the side, and he continued doing
this. A large cloud of dust formed, shrouding Tikai’s view, and gave
her a coughing fit.
“Air! *cough* Stop for a second! *cough*”
Airaxen didn’t respond, Tikai shouted again, and again no response.
Soon the dust cloud had dissipated, revealing that Airaxen had
already left, the entrance now unblocked, and...oddly there was a
dim light illuminating the vastness of the room.
“Odd...there isn’t any opening for light to
get in...” Tikai walked through the doorway, and there was Airaxen,
walking up a very deformed set of stairs, leading to what appeared a
stone tablet, a pale yellow crystal lodged into it.
“I suspect we are under the courtyard, and
those torch holders may have an opening in them, that might be why
there’s light down here.” Airaxen very slowly, and cautiously made
his way up to the top of the alter.
“Ah-ha, found the crystal, and before
Sonaris to boot.” Airaxen moved his hand towards the crystal, but
then it glowed bright yellow for a split second. He blinked for a
second, wondering if it was just his eyes playing tricks on him, but
the rumbling of shifting rock told him that it was no trick. Airaxen
leapt away from the stone structure, which was slowly shifting
apart.
“Tikai...I think I know what those
skeletons were running from...”
“Yeah, I think I’ve figured it out
too...Think we should run?”
“Most likely.” Airaxen grabbed Tikai,
around the waist and carried her, leaping from one pile to debris to
the next. The large stone alter now unfurled revealing two arms, and
a set of legs. Now the alter was a 30 foot tall stone Golem. The
Golem started to walk after Airaxen, smashing through the wall which
lead to where the it had previously rested, then continued on
totally unaffected. With each step a loud crash echoed through the
room. Airaxen set Tikai down in a corner of the room where the light
didn’t reach.
“Stay there, I’m going to take care of that
thing.” Airaxen took the sword from his back and turned to face the
approaching golem.
“You can’t possibly beat that thing with a
sword! It’s made entirely out of rock!”
“I can try, can’t I?” With that he leapt at
the Golem, sword raised. The Golem turned to see Airaxen coming at
it, then the it raised one of it’s massive arms and brought it
straight down onto him, smashing Airaxen into the ground.
“Uhh...Ok, lets try that again.” He stood
back up, and leapt to the side, right as the Golem stomped on the
ground where Airaxen just was. He kicked off a tilted stone wall,
then flew right at the head of the Golem. This time the golem was
caught off guard, and Airaxen slashed at it’s head. The blade struck
the it on the side of it’s head, but did nothing more then emit a
loud clash and make a little cut. The Golem grabbed Airaxen, then
threw him straight into a wall, causing him to be indented in it,
and a large portion of his armor to crack apart and fall to the
ground.
“Ugh...That really hurts...” Airaxen placed
a hand to his forehead, eyes closed from the pain. But before he
could pull himself out of the wall, the Golem had slammed his fist
into Airaxen, and farther into the wall. It then retracted it’s
hand, letting Airaxen fall to the ground like a limp rag doll. As
the Golem readied for another attack, Tikai jumped out from her
corner, grabbing a rock along the way, then she flung it at the
Golem’s head. The rock hit the Golem in the back of it’s head,
getting it to stop it’s attack on Airaxen, but now turned to Tikai
and began walking towards her.
“Oh man, I probably should’ve thought this
out some more.” Tikai spun around and started dashing towards the
exit. The Golem gave chase, gaining on her rapidly, not being
affected by the rocky terrain. Airaxen let out a weak groan, then
sat back up putting a hand to his forehead. With the other hand he
felt around for his sword, once locating it slowly stood up, causing
most of his remaining armor to crumble and fall to the ground.
Airaxen, thou weak and badly damaged raised his sword for another
attack. With all his might he charged straight at the Golem from
behind, he jumped up again, then brought his sword onto the Golem’s
head. Another earth shattering clash ringed out which echoed through
out the room, this one much louder then the previous one. The Golem
stopped, it’s head given another crack in it, but in the end the
attack did nothing more then annoy the stone behemoth. It reached
up, and snatched Airaxen, then slammed him into the ground. The
Golem raised his hand out of the newly created crater where Airaxen
lay. It turned to face Airaxen, preparing for another attack. Tikai
grabbed another rock, slightly larger then the previous one, then
flung it at the golem’s head. Again, this did nothing more then
provoke the giant into attacking her.
From the corner, two blue eyes emerged,
then locked onto the fighting taking place to the side.
“Hmm...It’s those two again, always getting
themselves into trouble it seems.” The shadow let out a low grumble.
“I know it’s not my place, but I must help them out.” But before he
moved, Airaxen was slowly getting back up, despite his arms and legs
being tattered.
“Hmm...Maybe that boy can still pull it off
without my help.”
Tikai ran away from the Golem again, which
was giving chase once more. But unfortunately for the Golem, Tikai
had made it through the exit and into the smaller corridor which
lead back to the upper floors. But unfortunately for her, the wall
which had separated the two sections had lowered back down again.
Tikai turned around, to see the Golem’s legs come up to the entrance
way before stopping. She leaned on the back wall, letting out a sigh
of relief, until a large piece of rock came rolling and hopping down
the corridor at her! Tikai let out a rather strangled squeak before
running to the side, barely avoiding being smashed into little
pieces. But before she could recollect herself another slab of rock
plowed it’s way towards Tikai. While the Golem took pot shots at
Tikai, Airaxen had regained his footing, just barely able to hold
his sword up. With one final burst of energy he charged at the
Golem’s leg, and struck him in the back of his leg, but this time
the Golem was unaffected, instead his sword shattered on contact.
The Golem took a step back, hitting Airaxen back into another pile
of rock.
The shadow narrowed his eyes at this, then
sank into the ground and headed straight for Airaxen. It raised up
and out of the ground and helped Airaxen up as he reappeared.
“Wake up boy, your friend still needs
help.” Airaxen responded by letting out a weak groan, clutching onto
the shattered hilt of his sword. “Wake up! Hurry!” Tikai let out a
shriek, a few seconds later a loud crash followed with the ground
rumbling. Airaxen raised his head slightly, another rumbling made
him look towards the Golem which was walking to grab another rock to
throw.
“No...Stop...” Airaxen tried to stand on
his own, and raise his sword up, which mostly wasn’t there anymore.
He tried to take a step forward, but fell to the ground. The shadow
lifted him up with one of his mighty claws and shook Airaxen
briskly.
“He fought bravely, I must give him credit
for that. But that’s not enough sometimes. Since I can’t do much to
animate objects other then move them around, I can still help.” The
shadow put it’s free hand out, a sword coming out of it. As this
happened, a slight glow appeared around Airaxen, the glow emitting
from it’s claw. Airaxen raised his head again, slightly more
conscious now, the shadow then shoved the sword into his hands, and
two crystals before vanishing again. Airaxen was rather confused at
what had happened, but Tikai’s shriek jolted him out of his
paralysis. Tikai was now barely able to dodge the rocks, the back of
the cave was slowly being filled with debris, forcing her to move
closer and closer to her doom. Airaxen dropped the broken remains of
his previous sword, and gripped the new one. This one had a similar
hilt to the last, a blade coming out of the left of it, 3 smaller
ones coming out of the right, all of which pointed upward. But
instead of the orange jewel in the center, there was no jewel,
instead some sort of holder was there. Airaxen then remembered about
the crystal in his hand, then looked back and forth from the two,
and came up with an idea. He placed the red crystal into the spot
where the jewel was supposed to go, then flipped the sword around
and put the other crystal in. When he did a strange set of line
markings fired out from the crystals, and into the blade of the
sword. Airaxen charged at the Golem again, sword raised, the blade
turning into a piece of ice, then a flame engulfed the ice blade,
surprisingly not melting it. He jumped at the Golem’s mid section,
and slashed him diagonally, this time the sword slicing right
through him with ease. The Golem was struck so hard that it started
to tilt over and fall, dropping the rock it had just picked up,
having it land right on top of itself. Airaxen ran into the half
buried corridor to the shocked Tikai.
“You ok?”
“Hmm...I just had a giant stone Golem throw
rocks at me trying to crush me! What do you think?!” Tikai roared.
“You’re fine.” He mumbled while rubbing an
ear. There was a loud rumbling, the Golem had gotten back up on it’s
feet, preparing for a counter attack. Airaxen ran out of the
corridor, diverting it’s attention away from Tikai. It raised a fist
into the air, then slammed it into the ground creating a fissure
underneath Airaxen to fall into. Airaxen leapt over it, landing a
few feet away.
“Anything you can do, I can do better!” He
slammed his sword into the ground, a wave of blue fire surging at
the Golem. The wave of fire smashed into the Golem, then vanished
for a second, before large icicles shot up from under it, smashing
right through it’s limbs. For a moment nothing seemed to happen, the
Golem stood there frozen in time, icicles sticking out of it; then
each of the icicles exploded in a flurry of ice shards and rock
sending them in all directions. Airaxen went close to the ground,
and dug his sword into the ground to keep from being blasted away.
After the ice shards stopped flying around the Golem was no more, in
it’s place was the pale yellow crystal. Airaxen stood up and took
his sword out of the ground, then looked around and surveyed the
area. There were some small rocks raining down over the general
area, a few small shards of ice were mixed in as well. Tikai walked
out of the corridor and over to the crystal on the floor, remarkably
it was perfectly intact, not a single scratch. Airaxen walked over
and picked it up, examining it for a moment, then pocketing it.
“Alright, we’re one step closer to
finishing this ordeal.” Airaxen said cheerfully, but then a thought
struck him, “Err, if that wall closed after we entered, how exactly
do we get out of here?”
“...You know Air, that’s a really good
question.”
“*sigh* I think we should start moving
those rocks out of the way, or else we might be down here for quite
awhile.” The two went back down the corridor and set to digging
themselves out.

3 hours later Airaxen and Tikai had finally
gotten out of the Forbidden City, and China for that matter. They
were sitting on a plane, both exhausted from all that had happened
in the day. Early that morning they had arrived at Mount Everest,
and it was a murderous 5 hours to get back onto a plane for Beijing,
the flight was another 6 hours. By the time they made it there it
was already 7 PM, and their little adventure into the Forbidden City
took a grand total of 3 hours. Now it was 11 at night, but when they
made it back to the city of Calgary, it would just have become
yesterday. Tikai was trying her best to get some sleep, but every
time she was about to doze off, something made her uneasy. After the
third time of this happening she decided to look around; all the
people within 7 seats were staring at them, well mainly Airaxen.
Reason being he was still wearing his tattered body armor, and the
blue vine like structures were showing on some parts.
“Uhh...Air?” Tikai tapped him on the
shoulder, nothing. “Hey Air, wake up.”
“Yes Tikai?” He responded wearily, also
without opening an eye.
“Umm...Well there are people...staring at
you.”
“So?”
“Well, don’t you think it would’ve been a
good idea to try and stay inconspicuous?”
“It’s a good idea, but I don’t really find
it to be that important.”
“At least make some effort in trying to
blend in!”
“Well I like to be unique.” And that was
the last they said for the duration of the flight.
It was about 6 in the morning when the
arrived back in Calgary, not exactly revitalized, but refreshed.
After calling a cab back to the city tower. Airaxen flopped down
into his computer chair, Tikai collapsed onto the bed, not able to
get very much sleep on the plane. After a few minutes Airaxen
straightened himself up, and moved over to his desk. With an
exasperated sigh he set to work on making a new scanner. But half an
hour later Airaxen had come up with nothing. The reason being
Airaxen had forgotten how he created the original scanner.
“Ack! How did I make this thing before? It
can’t be that hard to recreate, but why is it giving me such a
headache?!” He roared, which awoke Tikai.
“For all that is holy and sacred, keep it
down!” She grumbled.
“Sorry, sorry, was just getting irritated,
didn’t mean to wake you up.”
“With a voice like that you would’ve woken
up everyone in a 1 mile radius. What are you doing anyway?”
“I’m trying to build a new scanner.”
“Didn’t your last one come out of the
computer?”
“Only because I put it there to be
programmed. Feh, I think after getting so many hits to the head,
I’ve forgotten how to make these simple devices.” At this Airaxen
threw his arms to the side, and let his head land onto the table
with a loud thud. Tikai blinked a few times, and went over to him
and shook him, to this he responded with a muffled grunt.
“Err, you ok?” Tikai shook him again, this
time with a bit more force, Airaxen raised his head slightly and
looked over at Tikai.
“Yes I’m fine, just a bit tired.” He said
this while stifling a yawn. “I haven’t exactly had much rest since
our flight to China, it’s starting to take it’s toll now.” Airaxen
let out a straining noise, then raised himself off the desk and set
back to working. But that didn’t exactly last very long, Airaxen was
starting to lose conscious again, and soon was out cold on the desk,
laying on top of what little he made. Tikai lifted him up from the
desk, and started to shake him furiously. Unbelievably after being
sent through what could be only described as being put into a paint
shaker Airaxen was still out of it. Tikai frowned and just dropped
him back onto the desk.
“Tch, and he’s the one saying we have to
hurry, now he’s passed out like a drunk.” Tikai let out a snicker,
at wondering what might happen if she took Airaxen to a bar she
knew, something she had to try after this ordeal was done with.
Tikai gave up on trying to wake him up, knowing the chances of that
happening were slim to none, and flopped back onto the bed.

Sonaris walked out of the Forbidden City
after spending the last 2 days there, and to his great annoyance, he
found nothing.
“Stupid, insolent boy! He continues to show
up around every turn and destroy all my work!” He slammed his fist
into a nearby wall, causing that section of the wall to crumble and
fall apart. He lowered his head in defeat. He straightened himself
up, and let out an exasperated sigh, and slowly walked towards the
airport, brooding over his newest defeat. After 15 minutes Sonaris
finally calmed down, and concentrated on seeking out the remaining 3
crystals.
“The crystals of fire, ice, wind, and earth
have been retrieved; and I only possess one of the four. There are 3
crystals left somewhere on the face of the Earth, water, lightning
and gravity are the remaining powers, powers which I must have.” He
muttered to himself. “I’m getting sick and tired of this mindless
chase, the next time I meet up with that pest, I’ll tear him apart!”
Sonaris had accidentally shouted this, causing some nearby people to
stare at him. Sonaris ignored them, and took out what appeared to be
a palm pilot, he pressed a few buttons on it while muttering again.
“Hmph, the closest crystal from my location
is in the Pacific Ocean, located at the bottom of the Mariana
Trench. Perfect, I have to go down to the deepest part of the ocean,
where the water pressure is so high that it could crush me into
something the size of a matchbox. No matter, I’ll think of something
to avoid that.” With that he pocketed his device, and started to
walk towards the airport once more, thinking of the days events.
* * *
It was late that evening when Airaxen
reawakened. He had slept for the better half of the day, and when
realizing this, was rather annoyed at himself.
“Bah, I’ve wasted so much precious time!
Now I have to work even harder to beat Sonaris to the next crystal.”
He then looked back down at his scanner...well it wasn’t a scanner
anymore, after Airaxen had used it as a pillow it was nothing more
then scrap again.
“ACK!” Airaxen stood up quickly, and
started to grab new parts to try creating a new scanner; but during
his haste his legs got caught up in the legs of the chair and he
tripped and crashed to the ground.
“Uhh...Keep it down will you?” Tikai
groaned. She slowly opened her eyes and sat up, to see Airaxen
rubbing his face. “What’s up with you anyway? You’re not a clumsy
person.”
“Bah, I just woke up, and to my dismay,
we’ve wasted a perfectly good day! Now we’re at a disadvantage to
finding the next crystal. Stupid, still have to make a new scanner!”
“*yawn* Air, we found that last crystal
without a scanner, you know that right?”
“...Well...I didn’t really notice that.”
“Just do what you did last time!” Tikai was
able to finish this before being overcome by a massive yawn.
“I don’t entirely know what I did, that’s
the problem.” Airaxen brought his right pointer finger to his temple
and scratched it, while a look of uneasiness overtook his face.
“Last time it just sort of came to me, this time I don’t have
anything.”
“Well then, we’ve got our work cut out for
us.”
“Aye, I’m afraid...” Airaxen stopped
abruptly, closing his left eye.
“What is it?” Tikai tilted her head
slightly.
“Suddenly, I feel like going to somewhere
with water...lots of it.”
“Hey, I think this is what we need, what
else do you see?”
“What appears to be a map...the Pacific
Ocean area...specifically one part...think that’s around the lower
right...Ack, what’s there that’s important?”
“I think that’s the Mariana Trench.”
“The deepest part of the Earth, seems sort
of fitting for the crystal of water.”
“Yup, problem is we don’t have any way of
getting down there, unless you got a really good submarine lying
around.”
“Afraid not, the Sky Car we had was
destroyed and that was the only thing I had that could get us down
there.”
“So what can we do?”
“I suppose think of some way to get down
there, maybe someone would be kind enough to give us a submersible.”
Airaxen sat back down and put two fingers to his forehead, rather
frustrated at the new situation. He stood back up and started to
pace back and forth from one end of the lab to the other. After an
hour of thinking, he had come up with nothing, nor had Tikai.
“Feh, I got nothing, what about you Tikai?”
Airaxen mumbled.
“Huh? Oh yeah, I got an idea, but you might
not like it...” At this he perked up and looked over at Tikai. “What
is it?”
“Well...Since we don’t have the technology,
and asking to borrow one wouldn’t work either. But, Sonaris has all
these weird toys, so he could probably get down there and retrieve
the crystal, and when he does and resurfaces we ambush him and take
it away.”
“Hmm...That seems to be rather risky, it
would be hard to try and steal it away from Sonaris, he might
already have left by some other means, or appeared in a totally
different area.”
“Yeah, but we still have more crystals then
he does, 3 to 2 are good odds for us.”
“But each one of these crystals could bring
about the Armageddon and Sonaris has knowledge about how to work
these things, us on the other hand, we don’t know a thing on how to
work them.”
“Well, you seem to know how to use the
crystals, sort of.” At this Airaxen’s glance shifted to the right.
“Ehh...You see, there’s a slight problem with that...”
“Oh?” Tikai narrowed her eyes slightly
while turning her head to the side.
“I don’t exactly know what I did to do all
those fancy moves.”
“Eh, how does that work? You did the moves,
how can you not know what you’re doing?”
“Simple, you just zone out.” He snapped,
slightly annoyed now.
“Don’t take that tone with me Airhead.”
“Airhead?!” Airaxen shook a fist
threateningly in Tikai’s face.
“Oh calm down, you dork.” Airaxen started
to shout at Tikai, who was shouting right back.

Sonaris had spent his day working
tirelessly on a submarine, which was already completed. He walked
towards it, and gave it a sharp kick to the side; nothing. This time
a harder kick; still nothing.
“Hmph, good enough.” Sonaris looked up at a
window filled with more of his little robotic servants. He gave them
a quick wave, and a large robotic arm was soon lowered down onto the
submarine. It slowly closed around it, and lifted it up. Sonaris
leapt up and onto the side of the submersible and began to climb up
to the top of it, once there he opened the hatch and jumped in, just
as it was dropped into an opening in the floor which was filled with
water. Sonaris looked around the interior, it was rather small, many
small devices at the back, mixed in with them were a few emergency
devices. Once walking to the front, he looked out the two large
windows, at the large metal gates opening, allowing tons of
thousands of gallons of water to gush through, rapidly filling the
room. He then peered down at the intricate series of controls, many
levers, buttons, and small monitors were scattered about. The room
was now half full, the submarine fully immersed in water, which
blackened the insides of the vehicle. Sonaris stumbled around for a
moment, then eventually tripped and landed face first into the
control console, but when his nose slammed into it, he had turned on
the lights.
“Bah, it wasn’t pretty, but it worked.” He
mumbled while getting back up, rubbing his nose. Once slipping into
a chair he went to the process of starting the machine. “Power on,
engines functional, alright then, that crystal is going to be mine!”
* * *
Airaxen was out at sea, flying past the
island of Guam towards the Mariana Trench to be specific, sword in
hand and rather aggravated. He soon came to a stop, and straightened
up.
“I don’t know what’s worse, Tikai or
Sonaris!” He shouted recalling the vents that happened before he
departed.
It was late that night,
Tikai had fallen back asleep, Airaxen was also asleep, or at least
pretended to be.
“Alright, now I leave before
Tikai gets up and pesters me to follow.” He muttered. Very slowly he
pushed the chair back enough to let his legs out, then he stood up
very slowly, feeling around for anything he might bump into. <Nearly
at the door...> At that instant he was nearly tripped by the pile of
armor he had left on the ground, letting out a few shouts, and
sending his arms flailing as well as knocking over a few tools
hanging on the wall. After regaining his stability he realized the
racket he had made, so he paused and listened...Nothing. <Whew,
Tikai didn’t-ACK!> Tikai did wake up, and made her way over to
Airaxen during his flailing, but she didn’t know who it was, and
grabbed his right arm, and twisted it around his back.
“ACK! Ti-” too late, she
then grabbed his other arm, spun around while lifting him into the
air, then brought him straight into the ground, face first with a
mighty crash. Airaxen tried to tell her to stop, but wasn’t given
the chance, Tikai lifted him back up, and ran forward, using Airaxen
to smash through all of the miscellaneous objects on the way, until
he was pressed up against a wall.
“Alright, whoever you are
you had better start telling me who you are, and how you got here!”
Tikai demanded.
“Ti-Tikai! It’s-ack, it’s
me!” Airaxen half shouted into the stone wall.
“Air? Err...oops...” Tikai
quickly let go and backed away, knowing well that Airaxen was about
to blow his top.
“Feh, we were shouting for another 3 hours
until I finally backed down and left. But I must admit she is rather
strong, never thought she would be a black belt in karate.” Airaxen
then scanned the general area. “Well, Sonaris hasn’t shown up yet,
might as well just wait until he shows up.”
* * *
Sonaris had been traveling for 9 hours
straight, and he was getting fed up with the tedious trip. He had
his left elbow on the console, and had his face leaning against his
hand, while he drummed his fingers on the console with his right.
“Any second now I’ll be getting in range of
the crystal...If not...I’M GOING TO LOSE IT!” His shout
echoed through the inside of the craft rattling a few small objects.
After a few more minutes quiet beeping started to be emitted from
the console, Sonaris straightened up and looked at a small radar
screen, on it was a small yellow dot. Quickly grasping the steering
wheel he put the submersible at top speed, and headed straight for
the crystal. The craft shot at a downward angle, the water around
him was quickly becoming black, meaning he was nearing the bottom of
the trench. Sonaris shot by a number of viper fish, and strange
large mouthed eels, also nearly getting hit by a few jets of steam
from some vents. Soon he eased up on the accelerator, straightened
up, and turned on the head lights. Two large beams of light cut
through the darkness of the water, revealing a dark blue crystal
shining with the aid of the lights.
“Finally, you’re mine!” Once pressing a set
of buttons and levers a large robotic arm emerged from the bottom of
the submersible, and slowly moved towards the crystal. But as he was
about to make contact with it, two large red eyes greeted Sonaris.
They were nothing more then slits, but they were large slits, at
least 5 meters in length.
“What in the world?” Sonaris’ eyes widened
at this sight, he quickly retracted the robotic arm and started to
back away from the eyes. Now he started to look closer at where the
crystal was lodged, it was on a strangely perfectly round sphere,
the crystal in the center, the large eyes to the side. As well on
the sides were two large fin like ears, and to finish the fearsome
appearance, a large set of fangs sprouted out of it’s mouth.
“Heh, it’s just an orb with a face, nothing
to be afraid of.” But as the orb raised upwards, it revealed more
orbs attached to it, all of them blue with scales, a yellow
underbelly, and a row of spikes running along it’s back. Sonaris
shot straight up, towards the surface, knowing that he had no chance
to fight in the deep sea. But just when he thought he was safe, from
his side a gigantic finned tall came at him, and stroke the little
craft, hurtling it to the side, and ripping apart it’s hull. Water
was soon filling the insides of the submersible, and Sonaris was
panicking to try and keep on course. The Hydra brought it’s tail
back towards the rest of it’s body, then sent it’s tail straight at
Sonaris once more. He flung the steering wheel to the right, taking
the craft with it barely able to avoid the tail. Now the inside of
the craft was full of water, but luckily for Sonaris he had already
went up enough to not be crushed by the water pressure, as well the
water was becoming lighter and lighter allowing him to see once
more. The Hydra followed Sonaris, but not exactly gaining much
ground. Then it opened it’s large mouth, an enormous jet of boiling
water erupted from it at Sonaris. This caught him off guard, and he
was unable to avoid the attack. The force of the water struck him
head on, and blasted him straight out of the water, decimating what
was left of the craft.
Airaxen spun to the side as he noticed a
large piece of metal fly out of the water.
“Odd...What the heck was that?” He
exclaimed while forming his arm cannon on his left arm. Soon the
Hydra emerged as well, towering miles above the ocean. Airaxen
looked straight up at the head of the hydra, and gaped at the
enormous creature.
“Oh boy, this is going to get ugly.” With a
heavy sigh he flew straight up, firing lasers at the Hydra’s body as
he went. The lasers shot right through it’s body like a hot knife
through butter, causing the Hydra to emit a high pitched roar. It
swung it’s head back and then it snapped right back into place,
firing a jet of boiling water at Airaxen. Like Sonaris he was caught
off guard by the attack, and was knocked out of the sky, and fell
into the water. He swam back up, just in time to see that the holes
in the Hydra were healing.
“Eh, how did it do that?!” He flew back out
of the water, and shot at the creature some more, again the lasers
sliced through it’s body, and again it regenerated the damage. In
desperation, he tried again, the same thing, his lasers blasted
through the Hydra’s body, and the Hydra regenerated again. Now it
was fed up with Airaxen’s attack, and launched it’s tail straight up
from under him. Airaxen was smashed right in his back, and sent
flying straight into the air, then the Hydra released a jet of water
at him, and blasted him straight into the water, sending him deep
into the sea.
Sonaris had finally regained consciousness.
He looked around, at the moment he was floating in the water,
surrounded by scraps of metal which were slowly falling to the
bottom of the ocean. He quickly swam back up to the surface and
immediately saw the Hydra sticking out of the water.
“Graaaah, the crystal is on the head of
that monstrosity! But first it must be dealt with!” Sonaris flew out
of the water, a blue orb forming at the barrel of his right arm
cannon. Soon he was level with the Hydra’s head, he then pointed his
weapon right between the eyes of the creature, and let loose a
massive blue beam which instantly blew it apart on contact, sending
water and steam everywhere. Sonaris smirked to himself, thinking it
was now dead, but when the steam had cleared the crystal was still
there, floating in the air, then large pillars of water shot out of
the ocean, and up to the crystal, the water swirled around the
crystal, forming a new orb, soon the fins appeared, then the teeth,
and finally the eyes. With a ferocious roar, the Hydra unleashed
another blast of boiling water at Sonaris. He flew to the side, but
was still hit in his right arm, causing him to spin uncontrollably
in the air. The Hydra then raised it’s tail, and smashed Sonaris
back into the water.
Airaxen resurfaced after awhile, and clung
onto a large piece of sheet metal which was still afloat.
“Feh, that thing is a lot tougher then I
thought.” At that instant another person came out of the water, and
clung onto the sheet metal as well. Airaxen didn’t recognize this
person, mostly because his head was laid down on the metal scrap
they were holding on to; well until he spoke.
“Blasted thing, it can’t be hurt!
Regenerates each time it’s been damaged, even if it’s head gets
blown apart!” Sure enough, it was Sonaris.
“Sonaris?!” Airaxen’s voice was overflowing
with spite. Sonaris raised his head up and looked over at him. “Ugh,
it’s you. It seems wherever I go you’ll be sure to follow.”
“Someone has to make your life a living
nightmare.”
“Well then, I should have to-” A
high-pitched roar from the Hydra cut Sonaris short. It reared back,
and charged straight at the two at incredible speeds. They both
pushed away from the little metal scrap, and both flew out of the
water, right before the Hydra would’ve pummeled them. Sonaris then
looked over at Airaxen, his eyes narrowing.
“You cannot defeat this behemoth on your
own, neither can I.” He then looked away, but his eyes never broke
eye contact with Airaxen’s.
“I suggest that we work together to destroy
it.” These words burned their way up through Sonaris’ throat,
causing his face to scrunch together. Grimly Airaxen nodded, knowing
well that he needed assistance as well.
“Alright, just for this, after that Hydra
is done for it’s every man for himself!” Airaxen growled.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way boy.”
With that they both started to charge their arm cannons. The Hydra
was now turning back around for another try. It was approaching
fast, in just a few more seconds it would knock the duo out of the
sky. Just when it was within 3 meters, they both unleashed large
beams of energy at it, a blue one from Sonaris, an orange one from
Airaxen. The beams smashed right into the Hydra, causing a massive
ball of energy to engulf the oversized serpent, which sent a
blinding white light in all directions. When the light had died
down, Airaxen turned to look at what happened to the Hydra, what was
there was half the beast it used to be. It’s upper body had been
totally wiped out in the attack, all that was left in it’s place was
the blue crystal, which was floating where the head used to be. Once
looking down, what was left of the Hydra stood upright in the water
for a few seconds, but it soon toppled onto it’s side, and shattered
into water droplets once making contact with the ocean’s surface.
Sonaris didn’t care what had happened to the Hydra, as long as the
crystal was in sight he would forget all else. Taking this time, he
shot straight for the crystal, and snatched it from the air. Airaxen
had totally forgotten about Sonaris, but now he came to the horrible
realization that Sonaris had already gotten his hands on the
crystal.
“You really should keep your eyes on the
prize boy, at least so they say.” Sonaris mocked. Airaxen started to
reach for his sword and...there was nothing there!
<ACK! Where’s my sword?! I left all 2 of my
crystals on it!> He franticly felt his armor incase he did remember
to bring a crystal. Luckily, he did find something, it was the pale
yellowish crystal retrieved from the Golem.
“Ack, I can’t use this thou!” Sonaris
placed both his crystals into his arm cannon, letting out a quick
laugh. “Thanks for getting me one more crystal Airaxen, just for
that I’ll kill you quickly so as to make it nice and painless.”
“Oh yeah, you’re the humane one here.”
Airaxen mocked with his normal cool and cold tone of voice; but
despite he was sounding calm, he wasn’t. He was panicking, trying to
remember where he lost his sword. <Couldn’t have lost it on the way
here, I had it with me in my hand...Then that Hydra appeared, and
smashed me into the sea...oh man. I dropped my sword into the
ocean!> Airaxen has totally caught off guard when Sonaris fired out
a cyclone with a blast of water inside at him. Airaxen was blasted
back, and then knocked out of the air from the water blast, and
landed in the water once more. He looked around the aquatic
environment. And sadly, no sword in sight. He started to swim down,
head swinging from side to side every few seconds. Sonaris on the
other hand was circling the area, baffled at why Airaxen hadn’t
resurfaced yet. Suspicious of some sort of sneak attack from behind
or something, he started to charge another attack. While he was
doing this he constantly spun around slowly, so as to keep an eye on
the are around him. Airaxen was now a long way down, the water
starting to get darker, but still nothing. Until he noticed a slight
glimmer a few more meters down. Airaxen dived straight for it, and
grabbed for the object. It was indeed his sword, the two crystals
still intact on the hilt. Now smirking he shot straight up, and
blasted out of the water to meet Sonaris.
“Now, we get this party started.” Sonaris
chuckled to himself at Airaxen’s remark. “So young, so
inexperienced.” Airaxen took out the light blue crystal from his
hilt, and replaced it with the pale yellow one. This caused the
blade to become stone, soon fire engulfed the blade. Sonaris placed
his two crystals onto the barrel of his arm cannon, causing the
weapon to glow a soft greenish-blue. He targeted Airaxen, and let
loose a cyclone, containing thousands of small water droplets,
spinning around at such speeds that they could slice apart a piece
of metal with ease. Airaxen raised his sword, and slashed apart the
cyclone, sending the two halves curving away from him. Sonaris
charged at him while he was distracted, and slammed his fist into
his face, sending Airaxen flying back. Now Sonaris blasted a jet of
water at him, sending him into the ocean. Luckily, Airaxen caught
himself in the air and straightened out before crashing into the
water. He then flew back up to be level with Sonaris, spinning his
sword behind himself. Sonaris flew back, a tornado firing out of his
cannon, landing on top of the water, becoming a water spout which
headed straight for Airaxen. This time he flew to the side, out of
the way pointing his sword at Sonaris. An instant later a barrage of
small flaming meteors flew at him. To counteract this, he created a
shield of water in front of himself, negating the attack. This time
Airaxen took a page out of Sonaris’ book, and charged at him while
his shield was obstructing his view. He flew right past Sonaris,
making a swift motion with his sword arm. Sonaris didn’t notice
anything, and turned around to face Airaxen, in doing so his arm
cannon’s barrel slid apart. He looked down at his no useless weapon,
again Airaxen charged, but this time he noticed. Sonaris flipped
upwards and kicked off using Airaxen’s head.
“We’ll meet again, that’s for sure. You
just got lucky this time...” Sonaris swung his arm to the side, and
turned into a red beam of light, and simply left. Airaxen’s body
loosened up, his sword returning to normal. He then scratched the
back of his head.
“Eh...I did pretty well in that fight...but
I wish I knew how I was able to shoot out those little meteors.” He
let out a sigh, while his head fell to the side. “I guess I’ll just
keep doing what I always do...Ehh...” Airaxen straightened up, and
started to head back to his home base.

Tikai was pacing up and down the lab,
becoming very impatient. She had expected Airaxen to have returned
by that afternoon, now it was 5:39 PM. At this point she expected
him to barge in, barely alive, and this worried her greatly, why she
didn’t know. It didn’t matter anyway, at that moment he did barge
in, and for once not looking like so bad. Airaxen threw his sword to
the side, letting it clatter to the ground, and then jumped onto the
bed, doing a belly flop, also sending Tikai who was sitting on the
other end up into the air.
“Hey, have some respect for the other
people around here.”
“Eh, sorry about that.” He responded, while
talking into the mattress. Tikai looked over at him, and noted that
his clothes looked slightly wet, not to mention they were rather
tattered and littered with holes. “Hey Air, you should get something
to wear that doesn’t look like Swiss cheese.” He mumbled something
about looking in the close for him, which Tikai did, to find more
shot up clothes.
“Why do you go into a battle wearing your
street clothes you moron?” Airaxen raised his head up slightly, “I
sometimes get caught off guard and get forced into a fight, or my
armor isn’t repaired yet.”
“Oh, that explains it.” Airaxen sat
upright, and looked over at the mirror across the room.
“Hm, I should get something better to wear,
this shirt is sort of dead.” He took off his shirt and threw it to
the side, and sifted through his pile of junk for his armor. <One of
these days, I’ll organize this stuff.> Tikai had looked over at
Airaxen, and an odd thought occurred to her, <hey, he’s got a rather
nice body, must work out or something.> Then she gave this thought
more thought, and started to turn red. Airaxen looked over at Tikai,
now wearing some armor took note of the red in her face.
“Eh, you ok Tikai? Feeling sick or
something?” he tilted his head slightly while raising an eyebrow.
She raised her hands up and shook her head furiously, now even more
red.
“No! No! I’m fine.” Airaxen blinked a few
times, then shrugged it off. “Air, did you get the crystal?” Tikai
quickly asked trying to change the subject. Airaxen sighed, his head
dropping, as well as his shoulders slumping. “He got away with it.”
“Oh...Well that’s ok, we still have one
more then he does, and there are two more floating around out there.
Hey, which ones are left anyway?”
“Hm...The ones collected are fire, ice,
water, wind, and I think the last one we got was earth. So that
leaves lightning and gravity.”
“Well then, we should start rushing to grab
them.” Airaxen agreed.
“I’ll try that sensing thing, Sonaris
already has a 15 hour head start.” He looked up at the ceiling,
closing his eyes in thought. <Eh, when I try to sense the crystals
nothing happens. But when I relax and go into a trance-like state I
start getting something.> After a few moments an image of a jungle
appeared in his mind, the image seemed to just zoom out, and he was
now seeing South America, more specifically the Amazon Forest. He
opened his eyes again and looked at Tikai.
“Where are we going now?” She asked.
“If I’m correct, the Amazon Forest. Seems
sort of fitting, after all some parts still aren’t explored by
scientists.” Airaxen threw on the rest of his armor and started to
leave, Tikai following close behind him.
* * *
A few hours later they were deep in the
Amazon, hacking away at all the branches and leaves in their way.
The forest was hot and humid that time of year. Sounds of birds,
monkeys, and other animal voices echoed in the distance. The
enormous trees blocked out the sun, and also kept all the heat in,
much to Airaxen’s disappointment, he was wearing a heavy suit of
armor.
“Are we almost at the crystal?” Tikai
nearly panted, the heat now getting to her as well.
“Eh, I really don’t know, but it had better
be soon.” He half growled.
“Hey, it could be worse. Sonaris might be
roasting you with the fire crystal.”
“Very funny Tikai, very funny.”
“...Hey Air.”
“Yes?” He glanced to the side at her.
“I’ve been wondering, how do you do that
crystal sensing thing, and know how to use them?” Airaxen paused,
putting his sword away.
“I don’t really know myself. I just get
this odd feeling, and suddenly I’m firing out meteors. What’s funny
is that it seems like I’ve always known how to do these
things...Funny, eh?”
“Well, you’re a funny person.”
“Yes, I agree completely. Now, we’re here.”
Once moving a set of branches out of the way, it revealed a large
worn over temple, hidden from sight by giant leaves stretching from
the trees surrounding it. The area resembled a small stadium, what
intrigued the two the most was that there were no trees within 500
meters of the temple, the leaves covering them were branching out
from the trees surrounding it.
“When you see something that simply can’t
be natural, you know that you found a crystal.” Commented Airaxen.
They started to walk towards the temple. When nearing it, there was
a slight tremor, but it soon died down. Airaxen narrowed his eyes
slightly, then started to take a step forward, causing the ground to
rumble again. Then he motioned for Tikai to try, which she
reluctantly did; surprisingly, nothing happened.
“That’s weird.” Tikai took another step,
still nothing.
“Well then, you had best continue onwards,
I’ll stay back here and keep an eye out for Sonaris.” Airaxen
floated a few feet into the air, forming his arm cannon. <Odd,> he
thought, <why was I unable to continue on, when Tikai was? Eh, I’ll
figure it out later.>
Tikai slowly walked onward, worried that
another tremor might start any second. But no such thing happened,
she made it to the entrance of the temple, unsure whether or not to
continue she looked at Airaxen. He gave her a quick nod, and she
continued into it. The insides of the temple were cold and damp.
Light shined in through cracks along the roof where it had
collapsed. Tikai reached a small elevated alter, on it a yellow
crystal.
“This is always the part of the movie when
some big trap would jump out at the hero. But this isn’t a
movie...so that shouldn’t happen.” <But then again, last time Air
reached for a crystal, it turned into a Golem.> She reminded
herself. Taking in one big breath of air, she snatched the crystal
off the alter, eyes shut waiting...and waiting...and there was
nothing, not even a slight rumble. Tikai opened her eyes, blinked a
few times, then dashed right out of the temple. She waved at
Airaxen, crystal shining brightly with the little light that broke
through the leaves. But the celebrating was short lived, a small
cable with a metallic claw shot out of some nearby bushes, and
locked onto Tikai’s arm. Sonaris leapt out of the bushes, the cable
leading to his arm cannon.
“Greetings all. So nice to see you all
again. Well then, lets get straight to business, shall we?” Airaxen
pointed his cannon at Sonaris, now powered up by one of his
crystals. But before he could fire, Sonaris raised his hand to
speak.
“You see, I wouldn’t do that if I were
you.” He said in a smug tone.
“And why’s that?” Airaxen responded ready
to challenge.
“You see, the cable that connects your
friend to me can be used to send an electrical discharge of a
healthy 10 000 watts to the other end, plenty to fry a person to
perfection.” Sonaris then gave his best “give it your best shot”
look. Airaxen now furious that he had no control over what was going
to happen, lowered his head as well as his weapon.
“That’s a good little boy,” this caused him
to growl slightly. Sonaris then turned to face Tikai, “Now girl,
give me the crystal and no one gets hurt.” Tikai shook her head, and
stuck her tongue out at Sonaris.
“Ya want it? Come and get it!” Tikai showed
Sonaris the crystal, then tossed it slightly into the air, caught it
and repeated this, practically taunting him. Using this distraction
to his advantage, Airaxen snuck into the trees, and moved behind
Sonaris, ready to strike. Placing the earth and fire crystal into
his sword’s hilt, he leapt out a battle cry echoing throughout the
jungle, and with one swift motion the cable was sliced apart.
Sonaris spun around, and was greeted by looking down the barrel of a
cannon.
“Alright Sonaris, you get out of here right
now, or I’ll rearrange your ugly mug.” Sonaris let out a growl, then
left in a beam of light. Airaxen’s weapon flickered for a moment,
before turning into a set of lines and vanishing. Tikai went over to
him, trying to pry off the remains of the claw that was still on her
arm. Airaxen grabbed the device, and easily crushed it in his hand.
“Well, that wasn’t so bad.” Commented
Tikai. To her surprise, she didn’t find it very odd to be
threatened. She gave Airaxen the crystal, happy that they had to do
this just one more time. But suddenly a jolt of electricity shot out
at his hand. Airaxen let out a quick yelp, and threw the crystal to
the side. The crystal began to glow brightly letting off a hum. He
leapt back, reforming his cannon, Tikai being carried by Airaxen.
“I don’t get it, why didn’t that thing go
off in the temple when I grabbed it?” Tikai wondered. The thought
was dismissed quickly, Airaxen pushed her into some bushes, then
drew his sword preparing for the worst. The crystal now floated into
the air, firing jolts of electricity in all directions shredding
apart trees. Then it all stopped, the crystal fell to the ground,
seemingly back to normal, which was rather anti-climatic to Airaxen.
But true to form, what little light broke through the canopy of the
forest soon vanished, thunder crackled through the air, a flash of
lightning appearing overhead. A blast of lightning then struck the
crystal, causing a blinding flash of light, Airaxen squinted through
the light, trying to see what was happening to the crystal. When the
light had died down, the canopy now was set ablaze, and where the
crystal was now stood an enormous golden Dragon, hanging in the air,
flapping it’s mighty wings. The Dragon was a staggering 30 feet
tall, with two large arms razor sharp sets of claws on each, the
legs looking just as fierce. It’s body was large and shaped like a
stone. The tail was whipping back and forth, smashing apart trees,
rocks, and whatever else was in the area. It unfurled it’s long neck
adding another 15 feet to it’s height. The creature’s dark red eyes
darted from side to side, surveying the area. The Dragon let out an
ear splitting roar, and then soared into the air. Airaxen flew up to
be level with the Dragon, it countered with a mighty swipe of it’s
arm. Airaxen flew backwards, avoiding the attack with three large
gashes in his chest plate. The Dragon moved it’s head forward
slightly opening it’s mouth; it was charging an attack. A small orb
of electricity was forming inside it’s mouth. Airaxen’s sword turned
into a blade of ice which was soon ablaze in flames, he lunged at
the Dragon’s mouth and jabbed at the growing orb of electricity. The
orb instantly exploded sending the two combatants flying away from
each other. Airaxen swung his sword to the side with both arms, then
raised it above his head and slashed straight down in the air. As he
swung a large crescent wave of blue-red energy shot out and straight
at Dragon. The Dragon flew to the right, but still not in time
getting it’s tail and the bottom halves of both legs cut off. The
Dragon let out a thunderous howl of pain. Airaxen charged again,
this time aiming to deliver the final blow. The Dragon slashed at
Airaxen once more, this time making contact and smashing him
straight into the ground. It started to open it’s mouth once more,
pointing it’s open jaws at Airaxen’s falling figure. A few seconds
later a massive blue blast of lightning shot downwards. The attack
engulfed Airaxen, sending him crashing into the ground, as well as
creating a massive explosion, which destroyed even more of the area,
as well as setting more of the area on fire. Airaxen’s upper body
was now armor-less, there was still some armor left intact on the
lower body, but not enough for any protection. He slowly got up, but
it wasn’t in time, the Dragon had already come after him smashing a
claw into him, sending him flying into a tree, snapping it in half.
Airaxen was able to regain his composure in time to see the Dragon
charging at him. He jumped back and then jabbed his sword into the
head of the Dragon. It howled again, this time three times louder
then before. The Dragon thrashed it’s head around fiercely, and then
fell to the ground shattering into thousands of small lightning
bolts. Airaxen picked up his sword from the ground, the blade now
returning back to normal. He put it back into it’s holder on his
back, and snatched the now dormant crystal off the ground. Tikai
reappeared out of her hiding place, and joined up with Airaxen.
“What bugs me is I have to sit back and
watch you get beaten, blown up, incinerated, and just about
everything else happen to you. I want to be able to do something,”
said Tikai dismally. Airaxen looked at her, rather puzzled.
“Why would you want to help me? I mean
these creatures I go up against could easy kill you,” Airaxen raised
an eyebrow at her.
“Well, first off you’re my friend, and I
always help friends. And second, you’ve saved my life what is it
now? Four, maybe five times, I have to do something to repay you.”
“...I see, well you shouldn’t feel like you
have to repay me,” said Airaxen coldly.
“Hey, why so bitter?” Tikai asked in an
almost sad voice.
“...Nothing, nothing.” Before Tikai could
respond Airaxen had already pocketed the crystal and was walking
away. Tikai frowned slightly then ran after Airaxen.
* * *
Sonaris was in the Antarctic region,
blasting snowdrifts apart, in a desperate search for the last
crystal.
“BAH! THE LAST CRYSTAL IS HERE SOMEWHERE!
AND I MUST FIND IT!” Sonaris roared. Snow was being whipped around
by the harsh arctic winds, creating a blinding wall of snow, until-
“ah-ha! I’ve found it! AT LONG LAST!”
Sonaris started to laugh like a maniac. “And now...I prepare for the
final showdown...” He swung his arm to the side, causing more snow
to be blown around, after the snow had fallen back to the ground,
Sonaris had vanished from sight.
* * *
Airaxen, accompanied by Tikai who was
wearing a massive winter coat exited a small plane onto the frozen
land known as Antarctica.
“Geez, why did the last crystal have to be
in the coldest place on the face of the Earth?!” Hissed Tikai.
“Well, you didn’t have to come with me you
know,” muttered Airaxen.
“Yeah well, you might need my help for
this, Sonaris probably is as desperate as they come now,” said Tikai
while she was trying to warm herself up.
“Yes I know, but I don’t think you can do
very much when you resemble a very large red marshmallow,” Tikai
elbowed Airaxen in the stomach, but caused more damage to herself
then to him; Airaxen was wearing a repaired suit of armor. He
chuckled and then started to walk through the thick snow.
“The final crystal is somewhere on this
frozen plane, but locating such a small object is like finding a
needle in a haystack,” said Airaxen as he scanned the area.
“You said it. Well at least there isn’t a
blizzard up and about.”
“Yes, that is true.” They were about to
continue with their search, but what can only be described as an
enormous frozen tidal wave charged at the two. Airaxen formed his
arm cannon, and began firing away at the massive glacier. A hole was
blasted through the ice, just large enough for Airaxen and Tikai to
hide in as the glacier past.
“Feh, got a rather good guess on what
caused that,” shouted Airaxen as he placed his newest crystal into
his cannon.
“Well,” responded a voice, “Don’t you think
it was a rather obvious answer anyway?” Scoffed Sonaris. “Alright
boy, this time you and I will finish this once and for all!” Sonaris
lowered out of the air, drawing both his swords, dropping one
crystal into each hilt.
“For once, I agree,” said Airaxen as he
drew his sword. Sonaris charged straight at him, one of his blades
out in front of himself, and glowing an eerie dark purple, his other
blade behind him covered in a small tornado. Airaxen jumped back and
pointed his arm weapon at Sonaris, releasing a blast of lightning.
He brought the sword behind him around and slashed apart the attack,
and continued his attack. Airaxen flew into the air firing orbs of
lightning at Sonaris. He stopped and put both swords in front of
himself in an “X” to defend. The orbs came crashing down on Sonaris,
and engulfed him in smoke. Airaxen’s cannon dissipated, the crystal
inside it now in his closed fist.
<Did I get him?> An instant later a large
black orb shot out of the cloud of smoke, Airaxen was caught of
guard and hit by the orb, getting knocked out of the sky. Sonaris
leapt up under Airaxen and fired a medium sized beam at him. Airaxen
was hit again his armor now crumbling. Sonaris let his opponent fall
to the ground, smiling when he heard a loud crash. Airaxen pocketed
the crystal in his left hand, and took out the red and pale yellow
one. Once placing them into the hilt of his sword he looked around
for Sonaris, but there was nothing but piles of snow as far as the
eye could see. He let out a sigh, calmed himself, then closed his
eyes and began to listen. The wind whistled in his ear, but he shut
it out and listened for the crunching of snow. Minutes passed and
nothing, until a slight crunching occurred from the right. Airaxen
immediately opened his eyes and charged to the right, and struck the
ground causing lava to erupt out of the ground and flood the area,
melting all of the snow and greatly heating up the area. Sonaris
shot straight out of the lava wave, virtually all of his armor now
destroyed revealing damaged sets of red vines underneath.
“Now, I’m getting annoyed.” Sonaris said
weakly. Airaxen leapt up at him sword drawn, Sonaris thou weakened
still had enough strength to continue.
Tikai who had previously been buried in a
snow drift because of Airaxen’s attack, had gotten thawed out.
“Man, it’s a whole lot warmer then I
remembered...oh man what happened to Air now?” Tikai muttered under
her breath as she took off her thick coat. She looked around noting
that the area within a half a mile was now free of any snow. Tikai
then started to hear some loud clashing sounds, once looking up she
saw Sonaris and Airaxen dueling in the air, Airaxen with a blade of
rock and fire, Sonaris with one blade seemingly made out of wind,
another glowing a dark purple.
<Well what do you know, Air’s actually got
the upper hand in this fight.> Or so she thought until Sonaris flew
back suddenly, placing both his swords together, this confused
Tikai, and especially Airaxen who charged straight at him. Sonaris
grinned and let loose an enormous black and green beam at his
attacker. This didn’t catch Airaxen off guard at all thou, he spun
to the side easily dodging, so he kept flying at him, but was
suddenly struck from behind by Sonaris’ attack. Sonaris put both his
weapons above him, then dived straight down at Airaxen, and slid
both swords through his chest. Airaxen’s eyes went wide in shock, he
landed on the ground hard, Sonaris holding the swords in place,
Airaxen’s sword had landed lodged into the ground far away from
where they had landed. Sonaris slowly removed them chuckling.
“That beam was a lot more then a direct
attack, it was more of a homing laser, did you like it?” Sonaris
laughed slightly before putting away his swords. He then grabbed the
light-blue and bright yellow crystal from Airaxen’s pocket, then
took the two from his sword.
“And that makes for seven crystals, now
I’ll take them out for a little test run,” Sonaris placed all of
them onto his arm cannon which was still intact. He then pointed his
arm at Airaxen, which was now glowing a multitude of different
colors.
“Good bye...”
Tikai started to panic now that Sonaris
might turn out to be the winner. She looked around franticly for
some way of stopping him...Her eyes fell upon Airaxen’s discarded
sword. Tikai grabbed it with both hands, and ran straight at
Sonaris.
“LEAVE HIM ALONE!” She roared, in doing so
the sword started to glow a mysterious blue, <Odd, how did that
happen?> Tikai wondered noticing the change. Sonaris released the
energy he was gathering and chuckled at the girl’s feeble attempt to
stop him. He casually drew his swords and stood there waiting. Tikai
charged straight past him, swinging the large sword once as she went
by. Sonaris laughed again, the attack doing nothing to him, or so he
thought. The lower part of his left arm then fell off.
<WHAT?! That isn’t possible! How did she do
that?!> Sonaris was getting nervous now, especially having lost
sight of Tikai. He spun around, just as Tikai was within striking
range, she slashed at Sonaris, he parried the move, then broke away
and jabbed at her. Tikai spun the sword around to redirect the
attack away, but instead shattered Sonaris’ weapon. He went wide
eyed at this, and took a step back, Tikai advanced and swung again.
Luckily for Sonaris she missed, and he took another step back, then
stopped and looked down before chuckling.
“Little girl, I would recommend that you
put that sword down,” he sneered.
“And why’s that?” Threatened Tikai.
“Because,” Sonaris moved his remaining arm
to the side, “because, if you do I might accidentally blast off your
friend’s head...” Sonaris smirked, knowing he now had the upper
hand. Tikai dropped the weapon, not wanting to see Airaxen be hurt
more so.
“That’s a good girl, now I’ll just-” he
stopped abruptly because something just grabbed his leg, he looked
down, it was Airaxen who still had some fight left in him.
“Feh, still not dead I see,” Sonaris shook
his leg furiously, swinging Airaxen around. Tikai grabbed the sword
off the ground, now with an opportunity to finish this. She moved
forward, then swung the sword with all her might, and cut Sonaris
apart. His legs fell to the ground, his arm cannon landing beside it
as the rest of him fell backwards. He let out a weak cry, then
landed on the ground with a thud.
“This isn’t over yet, I’ll be back to kill
you all!” With that he left in a bright red beam. Tikai threw the
sword to the side, and went over to Airaxen and helped him up.
“Well, I take it back, you are good to have
around,” Airaxen said weakly.
“Yup, I told you I was good to have around
from the start.” Airaxen bent over and picked up Sonaris’ arm
cannon, and then took the seven crystals out of it.
“Finally we’re done with this ordeal! Now
we can actually go to Hawaii!” Cheered Tikai.
“Uhhhh...” Airaxen stared at her blankly,
“You got to be kidding me!” They then began to argue for the entire
trip back to the plane.
