Of all the cast members,
Maria possibly remains the most untainted by the world. Though, she
has experienced some degree of social mistreatment. At the age of 24
Maria has always been cursed with the body of a child. She stands at
just over five feet with trimmed brown hair and a white hair band
across the forehead with a blue cross on it, representing her
occupation of being a nurse. When not working, she goes around with
a sleeveless white turtleneck, white gloves, sleek white pants with
more crosses on her hips, and simple women’s boots. And of course,
Sonaris looming over her for most of the day.
Because Maria was always somewhat child-like in appearance when
growing up she had to deal with the slings and arrows that came from
the mouths of children, they really are terribly cruel. But
eventually, Maria became accustomed to the verbal bullying, and in
turn developed a very strong will. Coupled with simple and straight
forward logic, Maria often is the person that chimes in with the one
thing that no one will think of, but come to realize that it was
very obvious in the end.
It
was during the Myreison War that Maria became a nurse, fitting of
her namesake. She was on countless battlefields, saving many lives,
but also watching many of lives become extinguished. Though she saw
many atrocities, Maria did not succumb to any psychological damage
from it, due to an already hardened will of mind.
She
settled down in Lutenia after the Myreison War and continued being a
nurse, though she was still confused as a teenager at best, and
still putting up with the chuckles of patients who towered over her.
Maria also took to being part of Lutenia’s peace keeping squad when
the Shadow Council emerged. During one night that she was on duty
and attending with a patrol, they were attacked by Shadow Council
members. But shortly after the battle began, a mysterious man
emerged on the scene, and it was none other than the war hero;
Sonaris. He dispatched the members quickly and to Maria’s surprise,
she found herself in the company of the war’s greatest hero. For
some reason, Sonaris did not mind Maria’s childish appearance, and
standing almost two feet taller than her, followed her around as she
showed him Lutenia. Ultimately, Sonaris decided to stop travelling
the world, staying in Lutenia with Maria in an apartment, at least
until he was ready to move on again.
Maria
remains happy to have met Sonaris, as he does not treat her
inferiorly, and for the most part her days of being bullied have
ended, at least by the hands of her patients. Maria still remains
pestered by the suitors that come after Sonaris, as he refuses to
displease his host. Be it for the better or worse, Maria is now only
bothered by the envious women. But it is a small price to pay to
finally earn respect, or at the least, tolerance from society. |
